Attention all. Thanks for all your feedback. I will do my best to address certain questions in a FAQ in the first post at some point this week. We really do appreciate your experience and voicing your concerns.

Regarding the car options I'm starting to see patterns of people wanting to maybe ban the R390 or NSX LM road. Although I don't see why everyone wouldn't just use those cars if they are so fast.

Regarding the tire choices, ALL tires are free no matter the HP. I've Time Attacked in real life and Medium Racing would be what I was using on a 190hp car. Tire choice stays free.

We ask all fans out there to try and think outside what is commonly run, as this isn't common. I am not a gamer organizing an online race. I am a real race fan (and real driver) using GT5 as a platform for an exciting race. Real life is hard and full of dissapointments. This is already a very easy event (compared to real life) is why I'm leaving as much real life decision making as possible. That is the point isn't it?

Although this was my vision, I'll try and figure out how I can restrict your freedom by banning certain cars if so is the wish of many. The race in the end is for you guys (drivers) and the fans to honor the real event.

We're trying our very best and we'll try and get that FAQ going.
Cheers.

EDIT:
At the same token, those wanting to proove time differences between cars in dry track conditions, please feel free to send PM's of your lap time using 305hp max and 1100kg min. Anyway you want it setup. We can put that into the 1st post. ;)

Not every one wants to be forced to use any one car or see people that don't care much and only want to win jump in on those cars because it'll water down the experience.

It doesn't sound like you've played much GT to be honest, but I could be wrong. Anyway, we're extremely experienced (I've been running leagues for a year every weekend since launch) and the main reason we're asking for tire restrictions is because at your specified power level (which seems arbitrary) racing soft tires make the cars feels extremely unrealistic. Too much grip = arcade. Don't pay a single shred of attention to the labels GT has given the tires, there's absolutely no difference in character between, say, sport soft and racing hard. No difference added between cut slicks or slicks. It's just a lateral grip multiplier. GT's tire model is rudimentary so we PLEAD with you to make us have a spec tire that's more challenging and fun. I'd recommend Sport Softs at the very least Racing Hards.

I have friends in GTP that are national Autocross champions and they would never go near a series using Racing Softs. Unless there's an event as epic as this, but we'll do our best to see it made right.

It's extremely easy to regulate the tire in the lobby, all it takes is three button presses.

Just don't leave it completely open. Specify either race cars or road cars, then, if you go with race cars, specify a class; i.g. GT/tip top cars only, no prototypes, no concepts not based on a road car, etc.

We're trying our very best and we'll try and get that FAQ going.

Thanks for all the hard work so far, I'm sure it'll be great 👍

GT1 2 3 4 Prologue and 5. Play enough yeah....

No I think people mistake grip for realism. Once you drive around a track with slicks for real, let me know, the G's are quite there.

C'mon Autocross has nothing to do with lapping a circuit! Most run as soft a slick as possible during Time Attack style events were you actually run multiple laps of a circuit.

Thanks I think I've figured that one out...

I'll think about this but I'm getting the impression that people don't want real after all......

EDIT:
BTW all registrations complete, however you can still send in your requests incase there are dropouts... thanks!!

I can't believe I'm registration #16 HAHAHA this is horrible! I really hope someone drops out! LOL just kidding!

I cannot believe some people... The hard work that Kurt has put in to this and the detail required and people are complaining about tyre choice and cars, it's enough to send you nuts no doubt. Well I am happy for anything - whatever Wurks.ca decree to be the regulations I am happy with; I am in it to be able to say I have a) done a 24hr race and b)that I was good enough to finish regardless of placing.

Seriously guys I know that you all want to be able to race with a chance of winning but your chances of winning are 24 hour event a slim at best and the winner will not be the team with the fastest car but the team that a) puts in consistent laps over the course of the race and b) has the best pre race organisation. Which team will screw up their driver roster and have Joe Snooze napping at the wheel whilst his team mates sleep? Which team will forget a manager thinking it is not necessary only to find out that the manager would be there to wake up Mr Snooze?

There are many things to consider here folks and the least of them right now should be car choice it should be ensuring you have the right people for the job because that track forgives no one and your team needs to be prepared and ready for anything before you nail down a car.

I say a huge 👍 to Kurt and keep on going mate, I am willing to accept whatever regulations, tyres or cars are chosen and whether my team finishes 1st (unlikely) or last I don't care because just being on the grid is an achievement in itself and none of you would get there if it was not for Kurt so have some respect for that, yes if you have constructive feedback send it in but do not be a smart:censored: about it, he has enough on his plate as it is surely.

And for Petes sake do NOT enlist any drivers called Joe Snooze!

Track: Nurburgring GP/F

TVR Tuscan Speed 6 '00 - Road Car - No Aero
All upgrades
Racing Soft tires
No Aids
314bhp/1100kg - Sorry I used 314hp, I don't know why I had that number in my head - regardless, I used 314hp through all 3 cars.

2:09.5

Toyota Castrol Tom's Supra '01 - JGTC - Max Aero 35/60
Detuned to spec
Racing Soft Tires
No Aids
314bhp/1100kg

2:02.5

Nissan GT-R Concept LM Race Car - Max Aero 50/70
Detuned to spec
Racing Soft Tires
No Aids
314bhp/1100kg

2:01.0

Nurburgring GP/F is 5148.0 meters long
Nurburgring 24H Course your proposing to run on is 25359.0 meters long

The 24h Course is 4.9 times the size of the GP/F Course.

Just for theory's sake, imagine all is the same between the courses, if we multiply the difference in lap time by the difference in the size of the two tracks.

Nissan GT-R vs TVR Tuscan. 8.5 seconds difference over 5148meters

Multiply that by 4.9, the difference of the size of the two tracks.

8.5 x 4.9 = 41.65

So your fastest legal car vs the slowest legal car by your regulations gives you a lap time difference of 41seconds each lap.

That seems fair.

Take two race cars. The Nissan vs Toyota.

Difference of 1.5 seconds
Multiplied by 4.9

1.5 x 4.9 = 7.35

7 seconds a lap. It's by no means a scientific down to the minute detail experiment, but you can see by not regulating the cars, the race is going to be no where near close.

As for the tires. Racing Soft is overkill for this level of car. Personally I would like to see Racing Hards being used. Sports tires are great, but you don't need to pit for wet whether tires with sports tires, so Racing Hards would add that element of strategy, when to pit for the right tire. Racing Medium I would suggest if you went up a class of car and ran something near 600pp, like SuperGT class cars.

EDIT: Tires are just my opinion and how I would set it up, going racing soft's is no issue, it's up to you (obviously) The real issue is making sure every car that lines up on the grid has a fair chance from the get go.

Oh man that was fast. I didn't get to submit the request. I'll get it over in case there's drop outs. I think we'll still run in synch with the live stream to see how we would have placed as we're just about setup. Good luck with all that made it!

Well, I congratulate everyone who got in! 👍

Sadly AT&T is the worst ISP in the world, no debate, and my upload speed was about as good as the first computers. 195kbps

^That would actually be a good idea, considering how much interest there is. There might not be as many entrants, but it could be easier for some people. Maybe for people who just want to be in for the experience? No prizes? Just a livestream and race?

Great idea Kurt, congratulations, lots of fun, just searching for team mates and the best car, tuning, tire lasting matching fuel consumption, I can smell the barbecues already, 👍👍👍

Hey wurks.ca, do you mind if people start running shadow lobbys? Might be more involving if the date would be the same..

This way you could almost think like each lobby represents of it's own class. 👍 Seeing as there is no places left anymore I guess this is the only thing that can be made.

I hope it would be ok for you.. I'm quite sure me & Grandi would be glad to run a lobby of our own with little different regulations.. say like a different class ;)

It looks like supply is being overtaken by demand, so why not start a rival/alternative race? He doesn't have a monopoly on the idea (though credit should go to Wurks). So, make your own sporting and technical regulations different and let potential drivers choose between the two.

Yes I realize this, just trying to be polite. :) Will have to make some calls and go from there, see if my team mates would be up to it.. :dopey: Anyway, this is something I'd have always tried to do, and this event coming out of the blue seems like the perfect chance. Makes it a lot more fun if there are loads of people running the race at the same time, even if some are in different lobbies.

Props to Wurks for getting the ball rolling 👍

I had actually posted asking people for expressions of interest in a 24 Nurb a couple days before the Wurks thread BUT the detail and work put into this one would have made mine look pedestrian so I entered this one instead & closed mine off for now, I know a good thing when I see it & this is just that 👍

Would it be possible to arrange more than one lobby? So that all of those who are really serious and have got a spot can race in the one that has been mentioned above, where all the prices will be rewarded, while casual drivers who just want to participate in such a race and have fun can join a casual 24hr race with the same conditions and regulations?

All this is a great idea. I would love to open up another lobby, but don't have the man power. Please listen up on how this works, then if someone else is willing to put it together, we'd have a Skype meeting briefing to make sure things will work in sync and everything's clear so that one group isn't favored over the other.

Here is how it works: To start we need two techs (one for each 12 hour shift) to write down car positions every time the 1st place car crosses the line. This is for the hourly update of the race and also incase we have connection problems in order to regrid properly. These techs will use a video camera to show the watch race screen and more precisely the map. The output of this video goes to the livestream account. The tech also has to reply in the livestrem chat to other managers who want the splits of other teams for strategy. The tech also keeps an eye out on the battles taking place in order to see some proof incase of a manager complaint for excessive bumping, etc.

Next, we need 2 media writers (one for each 12 hour shift) that will take the info from all managers every hour (and the info from the tech) and write up a status report.

If you guys think you can from a dedicated team of 4 people that will be disciplined enough to make it perfect, I'm open for a lobby B ran in sync with the main lobby A.

This isn't just opening a room for a casual race. It has to be tight.

What do you think?

Yeh i would do all the tech stuff but i probably cant sorry
If i dont get into the race i might be able to do media

Maybe we could release another lobby to get the extra people in? Possible on La Sarthe? We could have it run for more beginner drivers. That way it could be an introduction into the series? No prizes, just a Livestream and Race?

Y not any prizes ??

I'm willing to get involved and open up another lobby, i have Skype all that, so if you need a hand.

i think, like most endurance events in real life, all applicants must attend a pre race qualifying session to make the top 15 so the slowest 3 will get booted as would happen in real life...
