Can not believe i never seen this sooner. I'm well up for this. If there's another lobby going brilliant

I would love to compete in this!

I definitely think there should be a qualifying though... Doesn't really seem very smart to just give away the spots on "First come, first served" basis.

Lets see another one organized!

Make another race. like, 2 races running in sync. With same ranking ladder.

Why not run several servers, with a total ranking for all of them? i think that more people than you expect, wanna join this race.

Kurt, post up the teams that made it in.

Can't yet. Teams aren't official. A few need to get me details. If it delays another day or two, they'll get bumped.

Ok all. you must understand that if it wouldn't have been for Jordans post, I would have 3 teams signed up at the moment. This has more interest than anticipated. I said first come first serve, I regret it, but I said it. Not changing stuff to disapoint people.

Next, (and not directed at KaiserGT BTW)the event is to find hardcore endurance teams, so just because someone has a fast lap, doesn't tell me if they are serious about strategy. So having a qualifying session tells me nothing. I can't repeat it enough (alot of you don't seem to get that THIS IS NOT A JUMP IN A CAR FOR 24HRS AND HAVE A GOOD TIME!!

The vision of this is to have teams studying and testing and getting splits from the officials during the race and calculating risk and pace of drivers ahead and behind. Saying that you drive 7 laps and pit all the way to the end without regard for anything else, I don't think is good enough to win. I want the best of the best.
Eventually this event might be invitation only to teams that put more effort than others and run it like it's designed. I'm not having a livestream for spectating. It's so the managers can get info on other teams to strategize, and for the officials to watch a battle and call black flags if necessary in the event of unsportsman like conduct. So drivers that are only two, one driving and one sleeping: if they get a black flag and no-one is there to know to pit the car (because they are sleeping) will eventually get a red flag. It's hardcore guys, but I understand that many of you won't like it, because only a few are crazy enough to wanna push it to this level.

EDIT:
Y not any prizes ??

Haha, we'll see when the time comes. thanks.

Madkart you are next in line by order of entries and you look serious besides. Waiting another day from a team, then you get the spot. I'll let you know.

TOMORROW I'LL POST A PRELIMINARY REGISTERED TEAMS LIST.

Thanks all, couldn't do it without you crazy people;) (you know what I mean):sly:

Oh my gosh Kurt you have absolutely no idea how much I love endurance racing! I am actually pursuing my goal of racing the 24hrs of Nurburgring in real life! So yeah, I am a big fan of endurance racing as you can tell and I take these things pretty serious hahaha. Let me know if the team does sign up tomorrow or if they don't! I can't wait to see my team registered and entered for this race! I've been waiting so long for someone to organize an endurance race, so thank you for organizing the event!

Btw! If you need any help with the event, I'll be glad to help! Cheers.

Kurt im gonna resend all my info just to out info on the empty fields i had before and maybe you could do a 24 hours of le mans aswell

I felt I just had to put in a brief post to say:

Congratulations for having the thought and vision to put something like this on! 👍

Wow, if you can get this thing to run smoothly as you've laid out and described here . . . it'll be the sort of thing that people will talk about for years to come.

I agree that qualifying races would be the best way for future online enduros. Obviously qualifying for the team would have to include all drivers. Perhaps a combined total race time or some such.

But as this event was set up first-come first-served it wouldn't be right to throw out teams that have already been given slots.

That's not how they do it in real endurance races do they? Only one driver, whoever they choose, can set the time right?

Otherwise what's to stop someone from just doing all qualifying times themselves for the "average"?

Remember folks that this is the inaugural one so there will be teething problems. Have faith that the next event will be organised with all the feedback taken into consideration.

It would also be awesome if PD could closely monitor what is transpiring here and initiate various changes that will help people run and organise Enduro's online in future.

I think the future of online enduro's is a bright one but there does need to be support from PD in order for it to reach its full potential 👍

How good would it be if you did not have to be in the same house but instead could compete in such an event in teams of drivers from all over the world! The team would have their driving order in place and when change over comes the next driver is teleported to the same car. You could also make it so that the Mic's of the teams can only be heard by their own team mates, that would give it that realistic feel for sure.

Hopefully PD can seriously give consideration to changes like this and really come to the party and give us an epic Enduro patch, perhaps with the Dubai 24hr track... :sly:

Guys thanks for the support once again.

Only missing internet connection from one last team this morning or else they are out and Madkarts team will take precedence....will post the 'roster' this afternoon. Thanks

How many teams are lined up waiting for a spot? I have a team consisting of a Canadian and a couple of Americans but we need to make decisions early enough to line up travel. If there is a chance we will jump in the line-up, I know we have what is required to compete from a hardware/internet standpoint.

in real endurance races, you have day/night free practice sessions then a quali session - for 9h enduros its usually 20-30 mins per driver, each driver MUST set a time, an average grid position is formulated and that determines your starting position. if there is a grid limit and the No. of entrants exceeds this, the slowest teams post quali will not be allowed to race

Thanks for tha V12 but when I was watching the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this year I saw the qualifying results would only list one driver that set the time for the team. Like Signatech's, which only listed our own Lucas Ordonez as setting their time in LMP2.

Added rule: The car chosen has to have a minimum of 500 road going version units produced in order to comply to the regulations. This discards the R390 (only two road cars were built).

Very nice, thanks for the info, looking forward to competing with every one! Practice with my team starts tomorrow!

I'm not in the list boohooo :'(

Shocking news has just hit my email box.

Team number 10 (Slices of Abread) has dropped out for personal reasons so we'll have to fill their spot.
Congrats to team Carolina BMW Motorsports managed by Madkart for filling their spot!

This team has an exceptionaly preceise registration. All info straight up the first time and by chatting with Madkart, they are very passionate about the event. Welcome to the green hell.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT! you sir have made my month! i cannot believe this! unbelievably good news! I can't wait for February! It should definitely be an experience of a lifetime! see you guys at the track!

who is next in line in case of another dropout? and will there be another server running? we are still testing in the hope of getting a spot on the grid, we wont give up!

Yep, planned a vacation with the family and it conflicted with the race. Looking forward to next year though. 👍
Good luck to all contestants, and may the best team win. :)

Awesome! Chris (Madkart) is a good friend so it's really great that CBM made it in. They're definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with.
I'm starting a Google docs sheet with initial planning for the day of the event. Theories and sims on driver swap scheduling, staying fed and hydrated, optimal sleep patterns, etc.

Thanks to this series I've also finally decided to invest in a racing sim seat/rig. Which I'll be buying as a Christmas present to myself lol. No way we're gonna do 24 hours in my office chair.

Also, I'm getting together with my uncle to get my girlfriend's charity licensed asap so when I broadcast the race (using both an in-room web cam and in-game HD-PVR dual stream through my live stream channel @*Twitch.tv) we're going to be doing it to raise awareness for her charity called "ReWard" that goes from hospital to hospital helping renovate children's wards by redecorating, restoring, fixing and generally bringing brighter spirits to old hospitals that haven't had the budget to do so themselves. And they'll also be allowing the kids, which some have to remain there for a very long time, to assist in suping up their own rooms. Should be a really amazing way to do essentially a gaming marathon for a great cause that'd make me so happy for people to be able to donate to in support and watching us attempt the great feat of 24 hours.

Thanks for the opportunity Kurt, and the rest of the Shifted team and company, for your continued hard work.

It's sure to be a legend 👍
