Disappointed to hear that only the first 15 can make it. Hopefully, everything works out well for the teams present on the race. Was looking forward to this race. Love the whole challenge behind it.

Isn't there any possibilty of having a second lobby? If there is enough teams to fill up a second lobby, I hope this is taken into consideration. I promise I will be one of the many that will truly commit to this race and will try my best at it. Then, we could for next year have the top finishing teams race together in 1 race. :) Hopefully, a spot opens up so I can have my team on the race. *crosses fingers*

At this time we would need at least 3 to 4 other lobbies to satisfy everyone. We are victims of a underestimated first edition.

The best way to help us make a next year with a more accessible event is to follow the race and show your interest so we can have arguments next year to spend more time and energy to make it work.

Again sorry. But keep your fingers crossed. People might choke before the green flag.

Thanks Demplar for the precisions.

Teams: don't forget to post your status reports in the facebook fan page.

Also fans please comment on the facebook posts, let us know what you think!!

Just a quick thank you to Demplar who has extensive organisational skills and really is passionate about the event. I think he, and most people in this forum thread, sees the big picture and imagines what this event could become. It's greatly appreciated.

I was planning on giving feedback while the race was going on regarding the stream and the managers and the whole thing. I'll definitely watch the race whether I make it or not 👍

Guys ever need a teammate post your basic location and see if you can get together with a local GTP. Long shot but maybe worth it.

I am getting close to having to do this because of a couple of factors (no I am NOT withdrawing) so if anyone in Adelaide is reading this and wants a spot on my team let me know, no guarantees though but let me know & we can talk.

Since this thread was featured on FB, I've had a few other local GTP'ers contact me about spots on a possible team. If things had worked out differently, maybe we could maybe have done something like this. I'm in NKY and a few of the others were within a reasonable distance as well, so maybe in the future....

Have you found any other possible candidates to hold a second race

Alot of requests for a 2nd room, but no-one came forward to offer help yet.

EDIT:

All-

We have got a great website lining up for both fans and for the participants. Everything will be in one spot and participants will be showcased and have their own blog as well.
We will still use the GTPlanet forum here of course and the race will be reported hourly in the GTP blog.

At least 1-2 hours per day are spent on this. Sit tight....it can only get better.. ;)

Thanks for all the work again Kurt, the more details I hear the more excited I become!

My teammates are pretty awesome, I have one working on a logo for MRT and a friend and I are working on a quick intro video for us as well. Sort of to give out our gist personality.

Hourly coverage on GTP would be legit!

Also getting things in order with my girlfriend's charity and such as well.

Merry Christmas to you!

It's true, they wear out faster than my ex wife wears out a welcome...

Its nasty because I am trying to train drivers, and practice myself, and this happens. Glad it didn't happen feb 24th tho!

LEAK:

I've just ran 3 laps of the Nurb24hr track on the Racing Softs and was expecting far worse. I ran 2 conservative laps to start (lap 1:9'29.xxx, lap 2: 9'17.xxx) and the last one I decided to push the car/tires to induce more speed/wear and I was able to complete 3 full laps. (the last lap you're not getting).

I'm fairly certain I could get a 4-5 laps out of them if careful.

What do you guys think of the new tire wear with the softs?

Agreed Kurt, but damn when you say "if careful" you really do mean careful because, in the words of AC/DC, "It's a long way to the pits if ya tyre guage is low"

Personally I can't wait to see the pit strategies, it will be interesting to see it all unfold, especially when it starts to rain!

And nice laps mate 👍

Yeah I'm fairly certain that the drivers will really have to know their pace and play within different driving speeds. If my manager asks me to drive 4 laps on Racing Soft (let's say there are 4 laps left...), I have to know how to do it!

BTW 4 laps are possible.

Less than 2 months left of preparation and trials on Thursday! Teams have to settle down their car choice for the event in respect of the limitation, but so much possibility!!!!

Help them decide by answering that question. Give us your opinion!!

Given the fact that they are going to race on the green hell with possible bad weather, knowing the challenge of that circuit, what would be the appropriate car drivetrain for that event?

I would recommend all teams, except mine, use unicycles which are known for their mad wicked grip and durability

Well, last time I've looked at 'car' definition it has 4 wheels....nice try.

Heathenpride

I've found a unicycle for the race but unfortunatly there was only 475 build... can't take it according to the rules. I'm sure we (shifted racing team) would have seen your car in our mirror (fixed on the handle of course) the whole race with my 1000 hp legs :)

hahaha well said :D

I reckon I could find an imiev to lend you if 4 wheels are a requirement :)

An AWD would be great, but most AWDs have weird tire wear unless you have a good tune so I'm sure one of the teams will get it right and, seemingly, magically pull away.

I shouldn't give away are little secrets, but we manager to have a decent tire wear on AWD cars with torque split 10/90 with a smooth driving...but that was before the game changes.

Hi all! Sorry for being last minute.

Those how can make it fine, and others, we'll have more practice sessions soon.

He is the number due in 45mins. Because of the lack of participants, we'll keep it as practice and maybe have a friendly race of a few laps.

1472-6118-3787-3246-2218

It's open now, but we'll really get involved at 1 pm EST.

Any PSN ID not registered to the event will be asked to leave or only stay in watchrace. Thanks!!

Damn, I see all spots are taken, I'd really love to participate..

I hope im not on the receiving end of a load of hate for saying this, but here we go anyway!!!

Has anybody ever thought of running these 24hour events commercially? i.e. charging for entry say £10-20 per team. Funds to go to the people putting all the effort into running it.

I like many people would have loved to have taken part in this event but was not aware it was happening until after it had already been booked out. But I would happily pay a small amount to take part in a Nurburgring / Le Man 24hour event. Split between a team of 4 its only a fiver a piece, cheaper than most weekends I have.

Just thinking aloud, no haters please!!!

Hey dude,

Not the worst idea but there are hundreds of little intricacies in an event like this so Kurt is your best bet for an answer, expect a post from him soon I reckon :)

garethevens78 you are absolutely right actually!!

For those who haven't picked up on this (because we haven't gone over everything in detail) this event is planned to be the start of something much bigger.
Everything we've already done so far already has a new game plan for next year. Among other things that will be better next year; there is Team Selection/Registration that will be tighter and more strict, there will be an Entry Fee, more Volounteers to help out, hopefully more Sponsors, maybe more Rooms, and hopefully Classes defined upon the real rules and regs. It's all in the würks ;)

Please continue making suggestions in this forum after having read the rest of it so we can make it better every year! Thanks garethevens78.

Is there going to be anything else like this in the future, like another online Nurburgring 24, because id gladly participate, and i have some friends that would like to as well, but unfortunately i was too late for this one..
