Lol @ war propaganda. News flash: the Iraqi "liberation" has been over for a couple years now. Remember "Mission Accomplished"? Occupation is not freedom.

I guess you fail to realize the Iraqi army is still not sufficient to take control of the country. Police and military have not reach the point of self-sustaining. We abandon them now, and they'll be in an unstable situation.

Occupation = The only freedom they have until they provide it for themselves.

Al-Sadr's militias control the entire south. They are policed fine. MP Nadeem al-Jaberi says the state military is able. Of course, there are still MPs and ministers who want more support, but from what I've read and seen the overall attitude of the country is apparently not on that page. Obviously, we're going to stay there under Bush, but we don't need to continue an occupation into the next presidential term. Occupation, after all, is the prime motivation for terrorism (according to Robert Pape). They're getting on their feet by finally selling oil, which they started a couple months ago. By the time Bush is gone, they should be ready, so we need to adopt a foreign policy that respects that.

Because they're asking for it, and more importantly, we're obligated to provide it to them.

Trade > Occupation and being on the printer's (The Fed's) dole.

So McCain doesn't want to get out of Iraq soon either? This is confusing, as I thought he supported the troops being pulled out. Also if another evil regime is going to take over, don't you think they would attack when the USA has finally left, regardless of when that occurs?

To many, we should start calling ourselves the USSA if we plan on having a government ran/owned economy.

You could start calling yourselves the USopia if you plan on doing nothing about it.

What can I do about it other then not buy the products or services that government bailed out companies have? I have to pay income tax, if I don't I go to jail. I'm sort of in a bit of a pickle unless I can get a job outside the US and figure out how to move to a new country legally.

Not at all. He is the biggest Iraq War cheerleader. His entire career is staked on this war.

So, how many companies will the U.S. buy out? Lets place some bets.

How about how many they've already "conservatorship"-ized. The US government is already fascist. It's socialism with shareholders. The Fannie-Freddie nationalization was the biggest, most expensive one in human history. No more free market in mortgages. I'm guessing the entire stock market is going to plunge until these firms get liquid. The NY financial sector is in a big contraction and don't expect it to end very soon. The next election cycle won't come soon enough if these punks in the Capitol won't raise a finger to the treasury and the fed.

YSSMAN
John McCain invented the Blackberry.

...Please, someone, wake me up and tell me its all a dream...

Are you joking? That's an even bigger stretch than claiming Al Gore invented the internet. At least Gore himself actually said that "he envisioned an information superhighway". Here is a McCain advisor saying that McCain helped preside over a confluence of technologies that made the Blackberry possible.

Stretching that to mean "McCain claims he invented the Blackberry" is even more ludicrous than saying "Al Gore claims he invented the internet" - which was ludicrous already. I love how the article does an even worse job of idea stretching like this, then a paragraph later defends Gore and notes that he never actually made the claim. What idiotic "journalism".

Unfortunately, either the loans or the banks were going to be federalized, I don't think there is any way around that if we wanted to keep the global economy afloat.

Its actually quite funny that we're all standing around saying "How did we get here? Who is going to fix this?" All while McCain tells us that the "fundamentals of our economy are strong," Obama talks about solutions (good or bad) while nobody listens, and the rest of our economic partners run to China for safe haven.

I am a bit amused how we have have a strong economy after the hellish week we've had on Wall St. The market took another big hit today as well.

I hear ya, its been one helluva week so far. Hey, something that should be of interest to us Michigan folks:

The GOP Leaders are threatening to throw out the votes for people who had their houses foreclosed on. Uh oh. Especially in states like Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, etc thats a big problem.

Oh, and McCain/Palin was here in my home town today...

Couple issues:

  1. I didn't get to shake my fist at them as a pissed-off Republican
  2. Its odd that he is promising to bring all this stuff back here to Michigan when he said last time he was in Grand Rapids that "jobs aren't coming back to Michigan"
  3. Whats up with the change in heart on regulation Mac? Hmmmm...

Despite that this is disturbingly Republican-friendly Grand Rapids, take a walk across town, you're seeing an increasing number of Obama signs even in die-hard GOP friendly areas like East Grand Rapids (home of former President Ford) and even Forest Hills. When you're losing your core neighborhoods in the city, thats a HUGE problem.

Oh, I haven't heard anything about The Only Man Who Can Save America for a while. How is Crazy Uncle doing? Is his fleet of Zeppelins criss-crossing America yet?

I just find it funny that the cause of the problem is supposed to be the solution to the problem according to McBama.

What an idiot. The media probably wont make a big deal out of it, though, on account he's a Demo. Conservative media might, but shouldn't since this insolent twerp would enjoy it immensely.
