Do they give a reason why they would call McCain "insane"? What is their motivation to do so?

No, they do not. I suspect them of viewing upon McCain like this because of the situation amongst the Republicans right now, and because of Bush. They seem to be sure that McCain will keep on with the war, and lead the world into a new World War...

I have a video of some famous dude to show your friends:

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

I'm not sure what your message was in this piece of quote, but are you implying I am a racist? We've heard of the King before, learned about him as well, but I think there isn't so much comparison to be made between him and Obama right now. King fought for the rights of black people, but Obama is about to lead America. What I was trying to say is that just because he's a black man, does not make him a better President thanMcCain.

Do they know about UN resolution 687 and 1441?

...

I think I know the answer, people in the US don't even know. I'm driving down a dead end. :)

Whoa, I'm not calling you a racist.

In the US, there are many black people who are supporting Obama only because he is a black man. I quoted King because he warned about such bigotry. I thought it was incredible that students in your class would do the same.

In the US there are also many white people opposed to Obama because he's black, and that they think he's a terrorist and a Muslim. Our neighbour who is a strong UAW man and staunch Democrat isn't voting Obama because he's black even though he agrees with Obama's platform.

Those people are bigots as well. Although, I have never personally met a white person who thought that way.

After seeing the TG Southern US episode I think we on the West Coast never will met a white person who thought that way... Unless they come here or we go there.

My apologies if I offended you in any way, I was just unsure of the point you were trying to make clear 👍

Disgusting, is it not? I cannot remember who it was, but I swear I've heard someone saying "A slave cannot lead America!" Things like this really upset me.

Detroit has often been called the most segregated city in America and it shows, I mean I found this van in the local Best Buy parking lot.

Right because only blacks break into vehicles.

Right because only blacks break into vehicles.

Where does it say anything about black people there?

You honestly can't figure it out? Think about it, vote McCain because black people break into your vehicle and steal things.

I think you are jumping to conclusions.

The window is broken and they have a sign saying not to go to Detriot because that is what will happen to you too. The biggest conclusion I can make is that the window was broken in Detroit.

There is even a line drawn between the McCain message and the Detroit message.

I think the confusion is that people don't understand the demographics of Detroit. It's mostly black and I can guarantee you he was making a racist remark. It's not reading to much into it at all.

I'm agreeing with Joey. I tend to think that if you aren't from Michigan, you're not likely to understand what the state is like. Racism is still alive and well here, and although it isn't exactly on the front-pages of the paper or being broadcast across the airwaves, you can bet your ass that people associate crime in Detroit with the black community.

I don't think there is a single person in this state who wouldn't immediately see that as a racist remark.

Well, it isn't an inherently racist statement. Perhaps there were racist thoughts behind it, but the statement in-and-of itself is not racist.

Furthermore, I don't like trying to interpret what people are thinking when they say something - because it's prone to error. I prefer to take their statements at face value. Trying to figure out if when someone says "nappy headed" they're being racist I think is a bad idea. Similarly with this. Perhaps there were racist intentions, but they were not stated, so let's move on.

As far as I'm concerned, if that's the most racist public remark we can find in the US (I know, it isn't) then racism is no longer an issue.

It's saying black people break into vehicles and steal things, how can you not see that? The person who made that was say the "they" is blacks in Detroit.

You all must be seeing a footnote that Danoff and I do not.

For all we and the guy who owns the vehicle know it was Eminem that broke the window.

No I honestly do not understand how on Earth you two can not see it, I don't think it can be any more clear. The creator says "McCain 08" and "Stay out of Detroit because they will break your window......" Who's the "they" in that statement? Look at the demographics of Detroit and tell me, it's 81% black according to the 2000 census. And I promise you that in that statement that person is referring to black people, if you think otherwise you live in a fantasy world.

Do you really need a clear cut answer on everything? Can you not make inferences about things?

I'll quote Danoff for this.

Perhaps there were racist thoughts behind it, but the statement in-and-of itself is not racist.

What you are doing is immediately assuming whoever owns the vehicle is a racist, why? Because his sign said "they?" Next I'll be racist because I'll accidentally say "you people."

Let me ask you this: Did you see the owner of this vehicle?

Yes I did see the owner, I waited till he got out of the vehicle before I took the photo. He was white. He was racist and the statement he made was as well.

He was racist

Perhaps.

and the statement he made was as well.

It most certainly was not. "They" is a pronoun referring to the noun "Detroit" with an implied "citizens of" in front. That is not a racist statement. Also, pointing to a black person and saying "I just don't trust those people" is not a racist statement in-and-of itself. It may have racist intent behind it, but the statement is ambiguous as to the reason for mistrust or what kinds of people that individual is representing. Perhaps it was because he was wearing certain clothing, or because he was male, or because he was young - who knows.

Like I said, racism may have been behind the statement, but the statement in-and-of itself is not racist. Also, the demographics of Detroit mean nothing in this instance. If detroit was 100% black, it still does not mean that he thinks skin color motivated the behavior.

If Paris Texas were 100% white, and I put a sign on my car that said "don't go to Paris Texas, they will rob you" does that mean that I'm claiming that all white people will rob you? Or does it mean that I'm claiming that Paris Texas is full of thieves - it means the latter.

It is a stereotype, but a regional one.

If you infer racial statements from things you are asking to get burned for it.

Why? You'd have to be blind not to see what the guy was talking about. All I was doing was showing that there are people who won't vote for Obama because he is black, not because the don't agree with his polcies...which I don't understand.

Why? You'd have to be blind not to see what the guy was talking about.
Which, once again, does not mean that the statement was racist. I do know that Detroit is a terrible place to live it is based on crime. Therefore, the only thing I see in that statement as a certainty is that crime in Detroit is high.
You are taking a statement that is not racist by definition and making it sound racist because you believe it was racially charged (which it may be, but then again it may not be).

I just have a feeling you guys enjoy arguing for arguing sake, I know local culture and I can promise you he was making a racist statement. Perhaps we should drop this though as it's no longer related to the election and is going way off topic?

I gots a fevah, and the only prescription is more Joe!

Oh, on a small, small side note:

inciting cries of "kill him", "terrorist", "Arab", "Muslim" and of course, they don't even need to say the obvious...

Secret Service says "Kill him" allegation unfounded

SCRANTON – The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded...

Are those on the Left starting to hear and see things that do not exist? Uh oh...

That was the most frightening one, indeed, but nowhere in the article does it mention "terrorist," "Arab," "Muslim," etc. being unfounded. And those are obviously untrue, plenty significant, certainly out of line, and deserving of McCain and Palin saying so. The point Touring Mars is trying to make remains accurate. And who says conservatives aren't supplementing their allegations with stuff like that, too? Not that I can find a specific example to satisfy your desire for hard evidence to back up every statement you disagree with, although I'm sure someone else could.

Why did you bring up Joey D's picture, anyway? As far as I know, he's moderate, not liberal, and of course that sign exists. Not that it was necessarily written with racism in mind (although I think it is), but if not, then certainly with the "poor people are all criminals" attitude. It's negative, stereotypical, and prejudiced either way.
