This just hit me like a ton of bricks. I honestly never thought i'd live to see the day when a black man, barack obama, would become president. Especially during the same week when lewis hamilton clinched the championship in what is arguably the highest level of motorsport.

I'll remember November 2008 for the rest of my life :)

I agree, I never thought I would see a black president in my life time. I figured I'd see a female first but even then that was stretching it. Whether you agree with Obama's policies or not, this is a historic event.

Didn't know Lewis won. Well, that's great news for one! Now to see if McLaren really does give him the LM. OT-ness, yes. :indiff:

Since rich people only get 1 vote each, and there are many more poor people and old people in the US, it doesn't really matter what the rich people think, now does it?

Go tell that to the folks on 6Speed & FChat then if you feel what they think doesn't matter. A lot of them are pissed off now that they may now be responsible for supporting you & I.

*Bah...D.P.

Lol @ McCain's speech; him saying that he will help Obama lead this country.

You mean right into the ground like you've been doing for a past few years, Johnny?

How much more do people need that both candidates represented the same ****?

I can just say that I am so happy that this is over. But I have never seen a cult of personality like this, ever. Obama has people praying for him and it seems like to him. The invocation before his speech make me sick. It's the false prophet welcome party.

So will I. Funny thing is I thought last week it would be crazy if that happens and it did! I'm gonna remember this for possibly a long time.

This thing

Holy Damn! First the hologram message for the Palm pilot, now this?! It seems like only yesterday when I only saw this stuff on Star wars. Technology is amazing.

Congratulations, America. You've just picked yourselves up, dusted down and stuck out your chests with pride.

👍

Yes, as we prepare to put our economy even further on the line of either returning or failing completely. As I've said before, I can't wait to see what promises he keeps and what issues he sides with. :D

It feels great to have lived through history tonight, and I couldn't have been happier to spend that time with friends and family across this great city I live in. Even eight months ago, I had my doubts as to how Obama would fare, or to who I would even be able to vote for. But, things have worked out well for those who fought for what they wanted, and regardless of what side of the fence you may have been on... We have seen something happen that many thought impossible.

Being on campus tonight, the feeling was electric. The Moose was overflowing with people, with shouts of excitement as the numbers rolled in. Although in a small amount of downtime I left to enjoy the Daily Show/Colbert Report, the news came surprisingly fast that Obama had taken the election by storm... Drinks were past around, hugs and high-fives given, people laughed and cheered, and people cried. I cannot be any more proud at this moment, and for the first time in a long time, I think I will be able to sleep soundly knowing that there will be better times ahead.

I kinda had a last minute panic attack... so I voted Barr. (not that it matters anymore) I'm a bit paranoid of the future now that it's over. :nervous:

<--- hence Joey's tar.

Huh? It was given a black man would become president within the next couple decades – hell, Colin Powell could have become president if he wanted to. I’m not sure why you’re assuming America is just a bunch of racists, when clearly (as shown by today’s results) that isn’t the case.

Plus, Obama won this a year ago. I’m not sure why anybody’s surprised.

I was listening to NPR at school and a woman said how she didn't think America was ready for a Black pres. because other countries know about our history with racism from our past...

Hold on tight America.....because change is coming. :nervous:

oh... we and the rest of the world will see. :nervous:

I wish I could go to sleep for about four years. When Obama screws up, don't come bitchin' to me.

I concede to defeat. This will only make me a stronger Republican.

Put America in the freezer for four years... the rotting has begun.

 Karl Rove.

Why on earth would you believe that? Because Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have taught you that you should believe that?

It was absolutely only a matter of time before a black person was elected president. As Sage mentions above, the presidency was Colin Powell's for the asking years ago. Just like it is only a matter of time before a woman is elected president. It's more a function of a decent candidate coming along than anything else.

Your neo-cons messed up the party so much that the people preferred to have a democrat. Now that is lol-worthy.
