Have you guys ever thought if this was too much just for a Inauguration?

It is. And as if that weren't bad enough, we've had to hear everyone and their mother blaspheme MLK running up to it.

The Change is closing in!
I can't help wondering if one of the first things to change will be people's perceptions of just how capable Obama is going to be in dealing with the challenges he faces... I wish him all the best and look forward to seeing what the new administration will do, but I don't envy them one little bit.

I can't believe the racism on display today. It's infuriating how absurd this is. Today's state-worship party is ubiquitous too-- I can't escape it unless I turn off everything. NBC even had some black jerk with the audacity to say that "no, we are not in a post-racism society, but we are post-racist." What? We are not post-racism because of racist idiots like that who have gone through life with a chip on their shoulder, misinterpreting M.L. King's message of unity as one "race" as merely an egalitarian quest for an oppressed black people.

YALiberty is right. One day of this crap is enough.

Overkill, I am sick of seeing his face everywhere...he's human just like the rest of us. Yeah I'm sure it's a historical event but I just couldn't see myself fit for voting for him. I do however wish him Godspeed and hope and pray that he does prove himself to be a great president.

Its a big deal for a lot of people though, so I'm just excited to be a part of it. In fact, I'm headed over to the ballroom right now, to join the campus' festivities. Hooray!

They cut my biology class short for this asshole. Now I'm pissed because Obama has finally officially interfered with my life.

Anything outside of a televised swearing in and speech from the Oval Office is too much.

They cut my biology class short for this asshole. Now I'm pissed because Obama has finally officially interfered with my life.
I just had to tell someone in my office to turn down their TV, because despite what Obama wants us to think, some of us do still have jobs and are trying to do them.

So he's the asshole because your school cut your biology class short?

What do you want, a personal apology? and yes, we can tell you don't want him in office.

I really wish they'd get this crap over with. Even Comedy Central is constantly playing his commercials & that Jon Stewart special. Give it a rest already....

Does no one know how to use the remote anymore?
His school must be full of assholes then , because I'm currently in my structural drawing class...

Same here, my sister is currently in her first day of school and they haven't cut her classes short.

All that Fox News is able to talk about is the fact that Obama is black, and he's the first black president, and slaves, and all this swill. I don't give a damn that he's black; what's important is that he is our new President.

The first black president inaugurated the day after MLK Day. You really think the media was going to let that go?

I'm not defending it, just saying that I saw it coming from a mile away.

In Wal*Mart I saw their Black History Month (February) displays were already out and prominently featured was Obama's book. Oh, and they had a "Yes We Can" poster in the same poster rack that has Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana posters. But not a single oil-filled radiator or Rock Band 2 PS3 guitar to be found.

I'm annoyed that they keep saying he's the first black president when he is actually the first mixed president. But thats right, Black history month is not to far away so they aren't gonna acknowledge that:grumpy:

I know. It's almost sad to see someone complaining about a class being cut short. I guess now we know who's "that guy" in the class eh? :indiff:
While I agree his being angry at Obama over it is misplaced, as a manager I can say that I wish there was an easy way to identify "that guy" on a job application or resume.

I never did get why the fact that he is black is such a big deal. They keep talking about how it is a big move in the war against racism, but it almost seems like there is still a great deal of tension with them making a huge deal out of it. If we want equality, put the race card aside, and treat him as any regular person, like any minority would want us to do in an ordinary situation.

We can't have one day every four years to celebrate the changing of the leader of the most powerful nation on the planet? Really? The inauguration is one of the biggest events that goes on in this country, no matter who the president is.

I can certainly understand if it was a three-day long "ZOMG BUSH IS GONE!!1!!one" liberal-fest, but this isn't.

That might not be the public theme, but the Bush haters are celebrating it as that.

Very true. My parents went to an anti-Bush party on Sunday night. /facepalm. I have a hard time believing people would actually throw a party over that, and I'm pretty liberal.

But it looks like they are keeping more or less to themselves. Seattle is probably a little crazy, but there aren't any Republicans there to complain about it.

Except it hasn't been one day. Since Saturday night, all I've heard about every so often was, "Obama gets sworn in on Tuesday! We'll be there to cover!"

I don't give a flying ****. I get it. He's getting inaugurated today. Why the hell do you need to keep reminding me 2 days from the event?

Wow, I warn everyone here that has ABC to stay away from it for at least the rest of the week. Apparently, the inaugaration won't end today:indiff: I guess this is one of the few times that Nascar channel (AKA SPeed) is actually worth watching now.

That's just media. Don't they do that stuff for everything big? I don't think the whole media would be having an Obama party starting two days before, but maybe they did. I somehow managed to avoid the whole buildup to the inauguration so I can't say I know if it was bothersome.

Reventon, you should know by now the American Media loves to overhype the hell out of everything, even issues we really don't don't give a damn about. You forget about Miley Cyrus? Thats why my best course of action is just to watch Speed Channel. Other then the usual Nascar BS and useless shows, I'm guaranteed stupid celeb news won't be repeatidly broadcast here.

Wow! What a great day filled with symbolism and significance! I've been watching the coverage on BBC NEWS 24, and its been great. 👍

One thing I would like to complain about the BBC coverage is that they seem to be refusing to interview white Americans. I've seen black people that remember the civil rights movement, black people than don't remember it, heck, I've even seen black people from Canada, but no white Americans... Why?

Same old BBC, biased as ever!

I only remember two commercials that kept playing repeatedly during football, Watchmen trailer and "WE HAVE INAUGURATION COVERAGE FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!!"

And what are they doing with all this time? While heating my lunch in the breakroom I saw NBC had The Washington Post fashion reporter discussing what Michelle will be wearing to the balls tonight. And what was the big story about? Nothing. They don't know, so Brian Williams interviewed this woman for nearly five minutes about how no one knows what Michelle will wear tonight.

And this is why business is so slow that my COO came down from NY today to ask all managers to put together a profit/loss staffing report and what the difference would be, factoring severance pay, if we released X number of people.

While Omnis may be a bit over board being angry that he got out of class, my business relies on business media to keep us busy. Obama fever and the election leading up to it have directly affected me. I have had to do layoffs and, judging by my new project, will likely have to do more because of the media's infatuation with Obama.

So he's the asshole because your school cut your biology class short?

Yeah. Actually, my biology professor and most of the faculty are the real buttheads. I might go see the dean about it or at least write him a letter. I mean, I paid for my class so I expect the full time-- or at least something close to it-- for each lecture. We were right in the middle of isomers too.

Anyway, yeah I was hungry as hell when I posted, so that was the extra bit of anger coming out. I'm not angry at Obama, just annoyed with him and the media. The anger is for the racism and the false-significance that is left constantly lingering by entities that have a responsibility to oust it.

I can't even listen to my classical radio without Obamarama in my ears, but that is to be expected from an NPR station.

Haha, the only message I ever get from the BBC is that Obama is black. Great, now tell me what he's gonna do!

Granted they have started to cool the whole black thing down now, I am hearing more about what he shall do.
