lol. I think I'm gonna try watch the full ceremony tonight. Mabye hunt around a few other news sites and mabye an offical site to find out more info. I want to know more about Politics as I'm about the right age to start getting in-depth with it. Couldn't really get the whole Bush stuff as I was too young.

Anyone got any fairly unbiased sites about the new president btw? I know unbiased is hard to come by these days but there may still be a few.

Stick to non-main stream sources for a better picture.

I can't even listen to my classical radio without Obamarama in my ears, but that is to be expected from an NPR station.
Podcasts are your friends.

Or in my current situation, audiobooks. I didn't hear a word about Obama while listining to Frank Herbert's Dune on my way to work this morning.

We got an hour out of class today to watch the inauguration. I don't see where all the hype is; we have a new President. Whoopee. Is the $120 million it all cost really worth it?

Although watching him mess up the Oath was mildly amusing. :lol:

I just saw some video on Breitbart. So it looks like Obama and Roberts screwed up the OAF of Office. :lol: Seriously, that was worth the 2 billion dollar media investment over the past two years.

It is now official. Inauguration mania has gone too far:

Sony has even jumped on it with a Buzz! Quiz TV Inauguration post announcing a new American Culture pack in celebration.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/01/20/new-buzz-content-hits-playstation-network/

While reading it try to avoid the idiots in the comments who do not know the difference between the number of inaugurations and the number of presidents. Or even those who don't even know the number of presidents at all.

I'm pretty sure John Roberts messed that up not Obama...

True; I found that out after I posted. Still was mildly humorous, watching the two of them stumble over each others' words.

You're looking to check out American politics in general? I'd suggest running the spread.

* Huffington Post (Progresive)
* The Drudge Report (Conservative)
* NPR (Moderate)
* BBC (International)
* Politico.com (Moderate)

Look at something from each of them and you can usually get a pretty fair idea of whats going on... And best of all, you can then decide which viewpoint you like best!

Anyone else want one of these after today?

I want to take one out and rip it around at 95 MPH for no reason at all.

And for a lovely roundup of minarchist/anarcho-capitalist/libertarian perspective, there is lewrockwell.com and its blog.

Yup :) Is it a standard Caddy that is modified or a Caddy which is custom built from the start? When the news did a walk around of the vehicle in a 'secret location' you can see its like as tall as an SUV and has truck tires. :scared: But seriously what good is it being bomb proof etc etc when you still have to get out of it! Obama got out and walked down the avenue!, what good is it then!

I must say the ceremony was a lot more pomp and glory than I was expecting. Its was nice though but ever so slightly over the top. Obama got his lines slightly muddled when being sworn in... I guess you can be the best speaker in the world and still have your nerves play up.

As for the historic moment thing, I agree that they should stop banging on about it, yes its amazing but people do get tired of hearing the same stuff over and over again as im sure Obama does himself. Lets see how he performs first before crowning him as like the best president in the universe OK!

Robin.

Reventon, you should know by now the American Media loves to overhype the hell out of everything, even issues we really don't don't give a damn about. You forget about Miley Cyrus? Thats why my best course of action is just to watch Speed Channel. Other then the usual Nascar BS and useless shows, I'm guaranteed stupid celeb news won't be repeatidly broadcast here.
I have never seen the media hype anything quite like this. One news station was broadcasting on what was going on in a window. A f'ing window! Who cares what they're doing, why the hell are you focusing your camera on the damn window for 5 minutes to report that you don't know what's going on?

What a damn waste of TV time.

Except it goes 65Mph max.

And I really hope Obama didn't preach greener technology & the what not, considering he'll be riding in a car that gets 8 miles to the gallon.

Yeah, Obama says he'll give us alternative energy and sunshine and rainbows. We all know how well the government reaches those ends.

I just watched the House marathon. I got enough inauguration coverage Saturday, and I (rightly so, it seems) assumed that today and yesterday would just be random asshats trying to link this with MLK day. Hilariously enough, Obama has already given me free money:
My idiot boss closed everything down today for some reason (I assume to be an idiot and watch Live Inauguration Coverage™), but everyone got paid anyways.

@ Omnis: You already started school again? I don't start until next week.

Thanks very much. Shall take a look at these tonight.

Cadillac isn't allowed to say, and obviously the Secret Service won't tell. Clearly, its much larger than your run of the mill DTS. I was under the impression that it was based on the full-size GMT900 chassis, but there are others out there who are saying that it was based on the GM Top Kick chassis (see Ironhide from Transformers, lol).

As for it being "green," the rumor is that it uses the big 6.6L Duramax diesel V8 from the full-size GM line, I had otherwise assumed that it had the big 6.2L L92. No one really knows, so it kinda sucks. I keep wondering if it has 4WD or not, because based on the overall size of the vehicle and how heavy-duty they wanted it, I see no reason why not.

While I'm thinking of it: Can you imagine how heavy those side doors are? The armor, plus the door, and the interior crap made it seem like it was at least a good foot thick.

...To think we used to drive our Presidents around in one of these:

Still. Freakin' awesome.

What is Obama sitting on? A NOS bottle?

Based on appearance (Escalade/STS front end, STS rear end), I'd guess it was a thoroughly custom one off (or at least is modified to the extent that it no longer is what it was based off of), probably GMT 900 based (doesn't look wide enough for the Topkick). Besides, I'd be fairly annoyed if they felt some compelling need to build another DeVille-based model instead of just reusing the 2004 car.
