Penalty time, just as I predicted 2-2 ;) Liverpool must be sunk, Cardiff to win shootout I hope, they have the momentum

It took them 120 minutes and a poor quality but high drama penalty shootout... but Liverpool win.

Top, top marks to Cardiff City. An outstanding performance.

Indeed, Cardiff matched Liverpool all the way, just couldn't keep cool in the end. More misses than goals in the shoot-out, crazy 5 minutes. Excellent cup final in the end.

Pretty much this. Liverpool won due to a lottery against a championship side. It's always nice to win a trophy, but it was such a poor win that I don't think you can take anything out of it as a team moving forward other than Liverpool are rubbish against lesser opposition.

I went to the game and aged about 10 years from this morning. Cardiff were great, a real credit to themselves. Thank god we won, I was almost crying when they equalised.

You and me both, but for different reasons...

On the topic of penalty shoot-outs, does anyone know when the last time a team went 3-0 up* in a penalty shoot-out only to lose it?

I'm actually only aware of this ever happening once in the entire history of the penalty-shoot out... in the werld [/Clarkson]

* That would go:
Team A: Score - Score - Score
Team B: Miss - Miss
With team B yet to take its third penalty

Alex.

Lucky for some ;)

Had a crappy radio stream from the beeb on my way home from a soccer game.

Went like this.

"GERRARD SHOOTS AND IT'S..."

"AND CARDIFF SCORE"

"SUAREZ OFF THE POST SKRTEL SHOOTS AND.."

And many more moments that evade my mind.

Get to penalties and I'm on the phone to someone who put there phone beside the telly. Battery runs out at 1-0 to Cardiff.

And someone else on the bus is getting messages saying who scored and missed..

Eventually Liverpool won and I was delighted as I've been a fan since I can remember.

Was very very tense on the bus as you could imagine, and 6 of us supported the Red's. :nervous:

When did that happen?

That didn't happen today. Miller and Gerrard, S. missed both opening penalites.
