Using blog post frequency as a basis for judging a companies competence?

Yes, it can, because as he stated it does not take a lot and will not ruin an entire company's work schedule to spend an hour responding to questions they should already know the answer to. Keeping your customers informed about why you have failed to deliver on your word and advertising is a better business practice than just ignoring the situation and hoping that everyone forgets.

If not, perhaps we can refer to every past game and feature that has been delayed in the Gran Turismo history, and everything that has failed to move along with the times, standards, expectations and competition if you would prefer? Perhaps you might want to throw in the amount of times something was working fine and then broken in an update, or things that were broken on release and either took months to fix, or were left broken forever.

As for some of the other past few posts, I swear some of you are being obtuse on purpose.

2 months for one answer at reedit and a camber fix in a update?
some mind it more, others mind it less, but the slow pace for answers is a fact.

Yes. Kaz hasn't been advancing in fan communication since '97, I know. :sly:

What are you talking about? :irked: For one I feel the engine sounds has been "answered" properly and they are somehow struggling to answer other questions that are listed here.
You seem to have lost your argument. Answering questions is not JUST what the blog was set up to do. It was casual communication. Just because people think its all about answering questions, doesn't make it so. Then the kicker is, it is answering questions.
Yes, Polyphony seems synonymous with "unfinished".
So, with a game release you can judge it because its a product. A blog is not a product. Blogs continue, they dont come as a finished or unfinished product.

People should stop pretending their questions are foremost on Kaz's mind. And stop being fooled into believing it was set up to only answer your questions. Even if it was to answer questions, its a blog first, not a questionnaire. Like it or not, its a step to get communication with the fanbase. No one thing will please everyone. But final judgement on a blog thats a couple months along is really premature. Thats my take.

Using blog post frequency as a basis for judging a companies competence? Using that logic we could use your telephone bill to calculate your IQ.

The people playing along at home can decide what that says about your competence.
One's ability to post on a blog reasonably often reflects on the ability for a company to be punctual and organized.

Your example makes no sense and it shows just how much of my post you understood. Which happens to be none of it.

Yeah, how long has it been since they posted about sound? It's been almost a month and we've yet to read the next part of their response.

Okay, than what excatly was the point in PD making a blog then if it's just "casual communication"? It doesn't have to be only about answering questions but seriously, you have a game too, why take the time to answer questions that are listed here INSIDE YOUR OWN SUBFOURM as well? Oh well, "Let's keep talking about us and only us at the Nurburgring or whatever, I'm sure the fans will forgot about the sounds and bleh bleh for months or even years. The defence force got our backs."

You know I'm beginning to think that Kaz isn't too bothered what we think because he knows we still care about GT and will still buy it, despite it lacking features and containing problems. Who needs a Q&A when their not wrong at the things they do and are sooooo perfect, even lying to all the faces of their fans before GT6 got released. Anyways I'm ending the argument here before I get more "Leave PD ALOOOOONE" responses.

Leave PD ALOOOOONE!:sly:

Er, Gran Turismo Academy.....

Fair point well made. :)

I'd be quite happy with GT Academy updates on that blog. It'd be cool to hear some insider information about the history of it, or what goes on in making it happen, or how Nissan feels that it benefits their brand.

I'm not holding my breath though.

I for one would like to see some sort of in-depth history of Gran Turismo during the GT3 and GT4 eras.

I really don't see what's the problem or big deal. I'm a Nurburgring head so anything associated with the ring is always welcomed. Some of you amaze me, I mean it's not like they are writing articles on I don't know ummm, how to walk a dog, what's crazy is that if they did write an article on how to walk a dog then your complaint would be valid. It's a shame people can't appreciate the little things, especially a read on anything associated with the world's greatest track.

Another thing, when I heard Kaz was involved in an accident, I was truly concerned for his well-being and was relieved when I found out he was ok. I was glad he wrote a piece on his accident in this blog because I got a better understanding of how it went down and how they felt when they heard the news. I got the impression that right there they knew Kazunori Yamauchi is not your average racing driver driving at the N24.

Leave PD ALOOOOONE!:sly:
Pretty sure I did a meme for that...lemme see..

.

So, an investor looking to invest in a competent gaming developer would search blogs, as opposed to financial records and reviews?

Nice work recycling all those same complaints again too.

He answered questions in eurogamer and on reddit. Convenient to leave that out, tough. Your interpretation of the blog is wrong. "Why make a blog"...? They gave the reason and you still question their motive. It was never the end all to the solving of questions answered.

People say "typical PD", more like "typical made up hype". "Leave PD alone" is something naysayers made up to label those who dont follow their line of thought. Some people dont need answers to questions immediately. But label them as 'apologists' or 'sympathizers' because seemingly thats the cool thing to do. People who say things like that are just as bad if not worse than those who cant fault PD.

Bandwagoning, thats whats going on. Theres a reason for these "hype train" memes.

Wooooooow, you don't say? Now why isn't he continuing to answer other questions hmm? What's the hold up? Oh wait, their at Nurburgring, nevermind. Kaz and PD has no time to answer their fans questions that are dying to be answered, because it seems like they have better stuff to do with their time. The defence force got their back, as I mentioned above.

i'm not against PD but i dont understand why some people here dont see that the questions/answers for Kaz is not working well. the few questions answered were not answered at this gtplanet/pitstop thing.

PD should have hade at least one answer ready at release date of pitstop. what we see? there is not even one answer in there up until now! is this a good working plan for gtplanet/pitstop? its not just very slow, its not working at all.
how many months do i have to wait to see que questions i care answered? this pace is not making sense to me.

this gtplanet/pitstop is not working well.

Look the blog is a good way for PD to shaee official dialogue with the fans and outside world. Youbwanted more communication and you've got it

no the blog isn't just to answer GTPs 101 questions but it is a platform for PD to use to share answers to some of the most popular questions amongst other things.

Why's everyone so mad? Unrustle those panties guys.

Nice work recycling all those same complaints again too.

Nice work forever missing the point in people's posts throughout this forum and returning a nonsensical response again too, to the point where it's difficult to differentiate between you either completely misunderstanding what has been writen or that you are mostly here on GTP for a bit of trolling.

Often the reason the same complaints show up time and time again in different wording is due to: a) The problems are not being fixed, seen to or seemingly left ignored and; b) People like yourself seemingly unable to comprehend what other people are saying.

This started when someone suggested PD, the developer that has dominated the racing genre across three generations of consoles, is incompetent due to the content of a 2 month old blog.

Disagreeing with that suggestion is not missing the point. It's not misunderstanding, and it's not trolling. If you can't make sense of that, it may appear nonsensical from your perspective.

we wanted more communication and still want more communication, it hasnt really happened yet.

the inclusion of casual posts is a good idea but till now its all a little too amateur to be relevant.
and the questions to Kaz, that is the mean porpuse of pitstop, is not happening at all. not even one answer there.
i wanted something like pitstop, but for now, its not working well.

Why's everyone so mad? Unrustle those panties guys.

nobodys mad, we have eyes, its not working well and we can talk about that. in a professional way, some of us wouldnt be proud to be responsible for pitstop the way it is today. i wouldnt. i want more action, relevant action. might be subjective but the communication is not working the way i idialize.

i dont think PD is incompetent but i cant pretend to believe pitstop is working as i expected. if you were responsible for communication between a game developer and players you'd be happy with pitstop as it is today? i wouldnt.

i dont want to undervalue PD or pitstop, just saying i'd need more communication.

About the game. While I actually do enjoy these little reads about their Nurburgring/racing adventures, I'd much rather prefer less of that and more regarding Gran Turismo. But silly me, expecting a blog by PD themselves to talk about their game(s) and adressing long-time concerns.

If I was responsible for communication between game developer and players, I'd be reading through a whole bunch of mixed messages. A large fansite that can't agree on a variety of issues. Many hostile comments, and much praise, both of which cover the same topic.

Even regarding the current state of the blog, this community is divided. Many are happy, many are not. Some are patient, others are impatient. On which side do you place more importance?

More communication is not necessarily a good thing.

Just because PD was successful in the past doesn't mean they are good today. Today, there are countless other racing game developers (T10, SMS, SimBin...) that shape our expectations from a racing game. PD has done nothing innovative or important to the racing game genre in recent times to make themselves stand out.

Don't act like there aren't hereditary problems that have existed since the first GT that still haven't been solved.

Communication is a good thing. PD needs to know why some features are loved and why some are loathed by the players. It's called understanding.

The same feature can be loved by some, hated by others.

Take the astronomy simulation feature for example. Plenty of members here argued for both sides of that feature when it was announced "Looks great", "waste of time", "should have modeled (insert car here) instead" etc etc

A few months later, other titles start announcing this same feature. Forza Horizon 2, Driveclub. Obviously those developers deemed it important.

Is that not innovation?

Then there is GT Academy, VGT, FIA. Regardless of any problems, however big or small they are perceived, PD still makes themselves stand out.
