I have a question about the OLR, particularly about the term
' or vertically in line with '... not sure if I understand that right:

Does that mean you can go completely off the track as long as your wheels are parallel to the track/white line ?

Ok thanks, still what does it mean?

I believe this means that a tire can be above the track (as in airborne, due to hitting a bump or rumble strip, or some crazy stunt), and still be legal.

Sphinx, or another OLR vet, correct me if I'm wrong in my interpretation here

Hmmm... i see, that's a possible interpretation.
Not that mine would give you any advantage, still could save you another attempt, if you make a good time despite a little excursion off track.
As you suggested maybe Sphinx, or one of those vets, can clarify this?
👍

The best way to do this is to keep 2 wheels above the white/yellow line at all times. That way there will be no question if it is a clean or dirty run.:)

Standard Clean OLR Rules:
  • 2 wheels on (or vertically in line with) the track at all times
  • rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • no hybrids
  • no cheating of any kind
  • nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • save your replay

these rules are over 5 years old and we have never had so many problems with them before. In all this time we have used these rules for hundreds of racing events and with thousands of participants not having problems understanding them.

I guess I will have to waste more time and resort to pictures.

I'm sorry i've just asked a simple question and Vaxens answer seems quite like a possible explanation...
So that's it or something else ?
or vertically in line with sounds like it could be everything tbh, that's why I asked in first place.
👍

All you have to do is keep 2 wheel on the track. the vertical reference is that sometimes in certain events some tyres will be airborne due to high rumbles or curbs or whatever.

I'm sorry. it's 2.15 am and I'm tired with answering the same questions over and over.

This is NOT to say anyone is dumb but I find this is the best way to get a point across.

looks like you took win grim 👍

Sorry there mate.

What happened? You seemed to be having problems.

At least you have an opportunity with the Spec III. 👍

P.S. @ Sphinx,

Do you think we could have some more photos just to clarify what is dirty and clean. I don't think you had enough photos there.

Keep up the good work. 👍

The competition is great, even though people keep asking the same question over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over again. Even though I am one that has asked the question.

A suggestion.....

How about having a set of rule clarifiers or mentors for each division. The idea being that when you start an event you select a person or persons from each division to asnwer any questions for you. You let everyone know within a division who their clarifier/mentor is, and people can ask them the questions. You could clarify the rules to the clarifiers/mentors, then they can asnwer the questions via PM. This should then free you up to get on with the event admin.

Looks like you beat me. Spec III for me then. Just hope my current top time holds out for the week.

You never know, neither of us could go through, as there could be someone that has submitted a faster time from our division. :nervous:

I'm just preparing the software to compile the SpecII results. They should be up some time today. 👍

Thank you so much sphinx! Will not do this mistake again. You really do some good job for this site! And to grim @ yes there could be a mystery fast driver or you have a insane 1.lap. Btw dont think i will try more on spec 3, 700pp ruined that event:(

Your through anyway, so spec III time for yourself would be irrellevant. It is possibly my only chance left, so I need my time up there. Looking at the Sec II table I am assuming I may have a chance at the fastest qualifier time. As everyone above me are from different divisions apart from yourself. You never know who has kept quiet though. Getting nervous to see the results, I am at work at the mo, so keep jumping online to see if results are up. :nervous:

Think I had a fast lap 1 on SpecII  but ruined by lap 2 👍
I'm division 1 Bronze too :sly:

SpecIII for me is :yuck: on this event

Thanks a lot :)
Was really just I was confused about that vertically in line thing.
Makes sense though. 👍
Seeing you are from Germany, it could just be a language issue. I am not sure who you say vertical in German.

Vertical means up and down, not side to side. To the side would be horizontal.

So by saying that it has to be vertically in line with it means that if your car leaves the ground it is still valid as long as at least two tires are above the legal track surface (within the lines).

I hope that explains it better.

hows the uploading of times going Sphinx.
ive bitten all my nails so far.

It's taking longer than I thought because people don't supply me with the details that I need. I therefore have to go elsewhere to find those details. This takes time and is very frustrating. The next event I will exclude any submission that doesn't supply the required details.

The results will now be up late tonight. Sorry, I've just ran out of time. :grumpy:

A picture example of the vertical rule

In this picture it looks like the car is completely off track.
edk2.jpg

But in fact the car is in the air.
This picture shows the car from the front and you can clearly see 2 wheels are still on the track.

Yes, that explains it perfectly.
Vertical in German is 'vertikal', so that wasn't the problem ( rather the word 'above' missing ).
Anyway, thank you! Case closed ...
