This mission cut my topic, so F off. I am sorry I am not as far along in the game as you are. Some of us have lives, careers, and wifes, and families to go home to. Go ahead, be lonley and play GT4 all F'ing night.

i think somebody needs to get some and chill out...

I think that is an excellent idea, the chilling out part being key.

The way it looked was that you were saying "k, whatever, I am talking about GT-R, piss off" I am sorry for the comment, but work has gotten me very stressed. I might be losing my job soon. I take back all of it. Sorry M.

For those who still have difficulty with the GTR slipstream challenge, check this out:

I just found out the TV tuner program on my computer could record it in a standard format ^_^

and for those having trouble with the miata overtake mission, a few tips:

Full accel through the first turn, go as smooth as possible to maintain speed. when you approach the final corner, position yourself just off to his right. Brake about 3/4 second after he does and use his car as a turning assistant. As long as you scrape up against him gently you won't get the 5 sec penalty. Make sure you stay to the inside of the turn after that since it's easy to slip out and let him pass. If you stay in front of him through the turn he won't be able to pass.

Here's some speeds to aim for

Passing through the shadow of the dunlop tire: 62 mph

The moment your opponent hits the brakes: 85 mph

what's the link for? sry, don't want to download ne thing unintentionally(sp?)

edit: forget it, themann42 posted b4 I did

two more attempts and i finally finished it! and the first one i screwed up and restarted. i was just doing the slightest thing wrong. i sure wish i saw that video earlier! I got my zonda!

Yep, it was a DS2. No room for a full wheel and pedal set here in my dorm room. Oh well. Doing a video gets you hooked... already working on another one (cappuccino drifting).

:dunce: Any advice for the Miata mission (#6 I think)? Hard to sling past that guy. He accelerates too hard.

This is totally lame, but I just wanted to advance at the time... At the last turn I flung myself into the grass in 3rd, using the barrier as my clipping point and won by a second or two.

good video mate, makes it look so easy
it really shows the gt4 ai when you have to bust a move to get out of the way of the cars drafting you on the racing line

has any1 made a complete list of the times needed to be accomplished in order to win the 34th mission yet? i saw one guy say u need 1:20 behind by the back straight.. another list of each time, even a video would make me so happy =) ill donate a buck to you on paypal or some crap

I finished Mission 18 last night, sort of. After watching the replay I definetly had all four tires on the sand a couple of times, including the last turn when I needed to pass to finally complete the mission after about three hours of trying.

Anyway, do you guys think this counts as completing the Mission. 👍 👎 :scared:

I've got like 25 or so missions completed so far. Mainly the last two sets of races to complete. The Skyline GTR is giving me a little trouble (5 tries so far) and I haven't really got to try anything else further down the line of difficulty yet. Just a few scattered here and there. I'm kind of excited about doing the rest of them as I love a challenge and finally getting that perfect racing line after hours and hours of trying and testing.... cheers!! 👍 👍

Hi guys,

I just like to add some input to those having trouble with the slipstream battles. The key is to have high speeds going round the bends, these are the areas where you gain the most time. Ideally, one should be looking at catching a draft going into or during a bend, which can then lead to the highest exit speed coming out to the straight.

I can understand that it can be pretty frustrating but if something that one is doing continuously is not helping, then maybe a different approach might help. I hope that my comments help. Going in the right direction, it should not take more than an hour on each mission, with the exception of the last. And I am saying that cos its a longer circuit where there are more chances for mistakes and loss time.

On mission 34 it will deffinately test youre patients. first on the checkpoint before the back straight you will need at least a 1.20.300 or you can pretty much quit and wait again. Also you will need to be able to see the fifth car by the end of that straight and pass him on or right after and i mean RIGHT after the karrosel (sp?). You need to pass the third car at the very begining of the front straight. Pass the second car at the top of the hill RIGHT after the bridge on the front straight. If all goes well your bumper will be jammed against the first car on the last corner. As you finally pass the last car now is the time to stick youre head out the window and flip him the bird screaming "thats for the two hours of waiting i had to do! choke on it! choooooke on iiiitttt you piece of #$@#!!!! there is one shortcut that can shave about a half a second, in the first section after the fifth turn or so theres a little snakey part of the track in shadow, you can cut through the grass right there for alittle extra time and youll need it. Also this car hates jumps the best way i found to help is do most of youre braking alittle before the jump, then accelerate through the jump and landing, this helps stabalize the car alittle apply more brakes if necessary (the car HATES that first jump). braking alittle early is also recommended the car likes exits alot better then entrances. Anyway i hope some of this helps alittle, like i said it will test youre patients, the waits are the most rediculous thing ever esp. when you say accidently launch in third or miss a turn right in the begining ugh. Sorry for the long post.
JoJo

this is for anyone that has beaten this thing. when you say 1:20.300 before the back straight what km marker is that at (heres a link with dist markings on it http://www.huettinger-motorsport.de/gruene_hoelle/nurburgring.jpg)
if its the one at 9.3~9.4 how in the hell do you catch the last place car by the end of that straight???
i guess thats my only question except maybe what are some other time markers you have at other distances.
thanks in advance

Ok, here are the splits required to complete Mission 34. If you have an NTSC/Asia version of GT4 you can download my replay from the original post. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=53827&page=3&pp=20

For those with western releases, I will undertake the mission in the PAL version and post a replay in a few days.

Flerbizky
I took the liberty of mapping Sambertos splits and noting where on the track they are :

+ 1'49.873 - Flugplatz
+ 1'40.794 - Arembergkurve, just after entering into Fuchsrohre
+ 1'32.915 - Adenauer Forst
+ 1'19.250 - Breidscheid
+ 1'06.704 - Bergwerk / Kesselschen
+ 0'55.198 - Klostertal
+ 0'40.745 - Hohe Acht
+ 0'31.277 - Eiskurve
+ 0'25.307 - Sprunghugel
+ 0'13.339 - Dottinger Hohe
+ 0'04.909 - Tiergarten

Notes:
If you want to make it:
-You will need to pass the SL65 on or immediately following the carrousel.
attachment.php

-Don’t worry too greatly about the SL500
-You will need to pass the 190 E at the beginning of the main straight (about 13 seconds behind 300SL).
attachment.php

This will allow you to get past the SLK before the final corners.
attachment.php

If all goes well, you will be bumper to bumper with the 300SL at the final turn. Victory is in sight.

The R89C is yours.

ok, for everyone having problems with #23, I finally made it by like 1 second, the trick is to pass the cars at 169 mph, that way, they will stay 4-5 car lengths behind u, and have plenty of time to catch up to u. as for what is needed: if u don't pass the lead car on the bottom straight, u NEED to let the others catch up, pass, and use them to slingshot u as fast as u can, toward the lead car, then catch his draft, and u will pass him half way through the last corner, at least I did, then you'll be going like 175, and fly by him. just keep working on it guys!!!!

ps, I think I'll wait for # 34 for a while, sounds like a pain

Its funny. I got gold in all licneses yet...the Odyssey Splistream battle is pissing me OFF!

I can't touch the d*mn leader. Best I get is 2nd. :grumpy:

This is going to sound dumb (and I did a search) but I can't get past Mission 10. I try to get in their slipstreams raher than get them in the chicanes cuz I am a rotten driver. Aside from practice any suggestions? They keep drafting on me in the straights. Advice? Thanks!

ijustwanttodown- you dont need to pass him by the back straight, you just need to be able to see him. Just follow Samberto's directions thats how i did it. oh and that checkpoint is the one between 7km and 8km just after that wehrseifen part.

Ive finished all mission but 34,(ive only tried once, didnt really feel like playn it again...). all licenses, 80%completion.(cant brag bout it, still a newb) i guess alot ppls havin trouble with slip stream battle.
22: well, these mini vans... lol the easiest way to beat them is to get on the right yellow line till the end. really, it works. just be on the line and youll be able to catch the car in fronts slipstream. after passing each car, get back to the yellow line asap. thats it. did u beat it yet?
23: skyline R34. same thing as 22. just be on top of the yellow line, but this time, try to put ur right wheels on top of the yellow line. after passing all the cars after the first corner, just stay on the yellow line. make computer get ur slip stream. they will catch up when ur around 1/2 to 2/3 of the straight line, if they bump you, thats fine. its makes u go alot faster. really. or if that foo passes u around 1/2 of the straight line, just let them pass, and take their slip stream again. and youll be able to pass them right before the next corner. but you always want ur opponents to follow u and get ur slip. when the computer moves out from the slip, make a slip for them, let them hit u or pass you, or what ever. u gonna use him again and again. after the last straight line, ull see the yellow skyline waaaay over there. lol
at the last corner, invata, in. ull see yellow skyline alot more closer, go into his slip, u will be able to pass em if u did well.
theres another way, but ive never be able to beat it that way. well, either way, ill tell you guys.
first, go straight in to the red skylines tale. push him all the way till the end. some times, ull get pushed from other AI. those helps alot. at the last corner, ull be able to catch the yellow skyline. well. good luck guys!!!
have fun!!!

take your lap time minus how much you lost to the leader, and you have it.

Here's another way to beat Mission #23. At the first corner tap the dark car as hard as you can without getting a penalty, after tapping him get and stay right in the center of his bumper and push, you'll get up to 170MPH on the straights. Stay on him , even when he does that silly braking going into the turn.On the last lap , at last corner, just before he taps his brakes, drop down to the inside of the track and stay at the bottom until you feel you can catch the slipstream, move on up behind #1 and get ready to pass, you win!
