<---wasn't able to view the replay!!

I don't know if this has already been asked and im not about to go threw 15 pages of posts :indiff: but my question is ..what lap time do you need to have to beat mission 34.... minus the 223 you have to wait!!! cuz im gunna buy the slr and practice!!! 💡
I believe mission mode has both TCS and ASM on, so if you want to practice remember to turn those on. I was thinking of doing a few practice laps too but I hate the feel of the cars with those assists on

Ahh, but good driving is enough. I have completed one of the three "one lap magic" events that I tried so far, and I've been pretty close on the other two (we're talking tenths of a second out of 1st place). To win, your going to have to hit your apexes, and experiment with your braking points until you find that perfect lap. Corner exit speed is key. That's why they call it "one lap magic". You shouldn't worry too much about the other cars, all you really want to do is hit your target lap time. These things are really the same as the time trials from GT3, only with an annoying wait, and obstacles on the track in the form of the other cars.

Im using the regular ps2 controller with at is this goin to be impossible to complete these mission halls without the steering wheel and pedals if these stupid missions cost me one more controller the wheel might be worth it

Meister,

I got 100% in GT2 by completing the UK version. I heard there was a bug in some versions which meant you couldn't get the full percentage. A friend of mine (who shall remain nameless) had a copy of 'dubious provenance' and had the same problem.

As far as 100% on GT4 goes, having read some of the posts and seen some of the game, I don't think I have what it takes to get 100% this time - I didn't even get all golds in 3! This one just looks too 'big'.

Complez String is no more! I'll mourn it's passing, but the Nordschleif looks like a more than adequate replacement...

This is going to sound dumb (and I did a search) but I can't get past Mission 10. I try to get in their slipstreams raher than get them in the chicanes cuz I am a rotten driver. Aside from practice any suggestions? They keep drafting on me in the straights. Advice? Thanks!

Chicanes? Just cut straight through them. You really have to try to maintain control, but it makes it soooo much easier to pass the mission (that is, if you haven't got any moral issues doing this).

Mission hall 34 is going to have me breaking a lot of stuff .. TV, controllers, etc

I'm using a DS2 & automatic :indiff: .. You guys would strangle me if you knew that I had a DFP sitting right here too. Guess I'm going to have to learn how to drive nurburgring with it, because the stick has left me with a best lap time of about 7:12, using time trials (my best lap time while doing mission hall is like 7:30 heh. Haven't had one without a major f-up, but have only tried 5-6 times.)

Think that sounds like the best idea? I can't seem to get the extra 6-7 seconds I need to bump my time down with a DS2.

Any more thoughts for passing the 10th mission where you race Renaults on LeSarthe? I can't pass the damn thing.

Not much to do besides cutting a little curb & grass. It took me 10+ tries to finallly ran the perfect lines to beat the lead car at the last corner. :scared:

I just beat mission 13 w/ the Peugeot 206 rally car @ Paris Opera after 8 tries! :dopey:

This ends RIGHT here !...

Is there ANYONE out there, with GT4, an Xport or the like, who has actually PASSED Mission 23 in Mission Hall ?... I'm getting seriously infuriated by this test. I've tried it like 30 times, and the closest I've come is .142 second off... This was by following the Black Skyline, bumper to bumper, and the cutting out right before the last corner... My initial theory...

The record at granturismo.de is 1.7 seconds off my best.. Where are those 1700 milliseconds.. Class ?... Class ?... Anyone ?... Bueller ?...

So someone - Please please get me a replay of some sort to show me how this is done...

(I only need to beat this one and 34, and that won't be for another week since we're going to Spain come tomorrow morning)

Thank you for listening.. This will be our Final broadcast for this evening..

Hopefully, this will help you. I will try to be very precise.

1.- Get behind the 4 Skyline but do not overtake them until the middle of the first corner by making sure that when you do so, you are running at 176-177! This is the only time you will need these suckers get you above 163!
2.- Once you overtake the group, get as inside the corner as possible. You need to exit the corner at 166-167 and enter the tunnel 9secs. behind and still be running at 165!
3.- You should be in the second corner around 7,5secs. behind @164. Again, I took it at the absolute inside and gained about 1,1sec per corner.
4.- This way, you should start the last corner somewhere around 2,3secs. behind the leader. Entering it at 163, I slowly moved up behind him to get in the slipstream 2/3rd into the corner and that was enough for me.

Hope this is precise enough. I spent a good 2 hours on that one and any other method failed. Perhaps somebody else has a better idea!

After several hours of punching my PS2 in the face for being ridiculous, I finally found the solution to mission #23 and I can express it in words.

Let the AI cars pass you ONCE AND ONLY ONCE per straight per lap. This take the first turn on the first lap, PASS the cars (but don't get so far ahead that they can't draft you after the turn), then let them draft you and pass you. Enter the next turn and get ahead of the AI cars coming out of it. Be far ahead of them coming out of the next turn so they can draft you and pass you ONCE on this lap.

Lather, rinse, repeat until you're done.

>>>> The key is to let them pass you ONCE AND ONLY ONCE per straight per lap. <<<<

Now on to beating this asenine mission 34. Stupid SL600, could that suspension be ANY SOFTER?? ARGH!

I finished it all. THe most boring mission to me was the slipstream skylines at Test Course.

The most easy were the Lap Magic, ahn, Cote d´azur 32 seconds over second placed and Nurburgring 8 or 7(don´t exactly remember) seconds over the second placed. :D

or just fly up behind one skyline, and push him all the way round, and then catch the first place car eventually...

I found it best to do exactly this, but on the last lap, drop back in T1, slingshot draft past the group of skylines, and the momentum should be able to carry you past the lead skyline.

My "works every time" technique (done it three times now, first time every time) is to never change gear ever. On approach to the first turn, draft and pass underneath the pack, move back to the top yellow line and then switch to in-car/rear view for the straight. Pick a car to allow past - let him slipstream you and then move to the outside to avoid him - he WILL hit you if you don't. Stupid bugger. Flick in behind him, slipstream and pass on the inside on the next turn, then back up to the top yellow line. Keep doing this and you'll spot the yellow GT-R on your third turn. Carry on doing this until the LAST turn.

On the last turn, slipstream and pass on the inside, then stay low until you're approaching the draft zone of the yellow GT-R. Snick up and slipstream him, pass on the inside and stay low again.

You win. Hurrah!

I wish I would've known this a few days ago. I did it the hard way. Back and forth, back and forth till finally passing the rabbit with seconds to spare. :grumpy:

I never had any success pushing the car all the way around the track. Or maybe I didn't have the patience to do it that way. Anyway, my posted method worked for me.

The thing to remember is that you don't need to slow down or anything like that in order for the pack to catch up, just line up your car with the closest one immediately after each turn and repeat the process.

That's the stuff - the 'staying low' bit is important once you commit to leaving the pack to chase the leader. The first time I passed it I ditched the pack on the first corner of lap 3, and I watched my friend ditch them on the last corner of lap 2 and still manage to pass the mission. Point is, if you're in a good position you don't have to wait until the last corner to make your move... 👍

That was one of the easiest (expect from waiting for 90 sec).
Just drive as fast as possible in the corners, you will got it ;)

Wow, that's almost 15-17 seconds ahead of me for Nurburgring. :ill: DFP?

I finished the first 33 Missions and began Mission 34 last night. I spent 610,000 credits for the SLR and practiced in the World circuit for a couple of hours. While I consider myself a decent driver (managed all golds in GT3 and finished all licensed tests and 33 Missions in GT4 in about two weeks) my confidence is very shaken after one night with Mission 34.

:banghead:

I have read all of the posts on this thread and one thing I saw that I haven't tried, (which I will now try tonight) is to brake well before the jumps and accelerate on the landings.

My main question for now is, do I have to power slide most of these turns or can I just brake early and come out fast. If I have to power slide them all, that would be very discouraging as that is a real weak point for me. I lose control of those alot and, considering how many there are......not good.

Also, Samberto, if you are out there, what did you mean when you said getting a sharkport and trying different things would help with Mission 34. I don't have a sharkport, but am not opposed to getting one. What would it do for me in the way of driving.

Thanks.

Any other help/advice would be appreciated. A video would be great but just can't seem to get the previous links to work

any key points to 26 anyone? i must have tried 30 times

If 26 is the one I'm thinking of (the Honda series), then go to Arcade mode/time trials and load up the track and the car (its in the Arcade's garage). Practice there, then go back to the mission and pass it. Also, you get to skip the 90 seconds waiting this way. Once I got the neccessary time on the time trials (which took a while) it only took me two trys in the actual mission to pass it. The car in the mission actually seems to have softer tires than the car in the Arcade garage, which helped a lot when I got back to the Mission.

Hope its the same mission you are talking about. Good luck.

I've completed all the missions except the last one as well. I've slowly been able to work my up through the field of cars, but I'm still out of the top 3 by the finish. It's just going to take me more practice. I swapped to the missions after getting all golds except the S license. I've now started back golding the S (I have 5 left to go) and then I'll head back to the final Mission. It's amazing how doing just ONE corner differently can make up full seconds at the end. I'm sure it's just an issue of practice. BTW, the braking technique works on the jumps. I hadn't read about that before, but that's what I started using and I think you'll like it better too. Good luck. 👍
