any key points to 26 anyone? i must have tried 30 times

Suzuka has a lot of tricks and traps...

- You can carry alot of speed into the first turn, you only need to get slowed down for the second, tighter part.

- The esses can be taken faster in one direction than the other. I took all the lefts in 4th gear, and all the rights in 3rd. The key is to setup the last left so that you are carrying as much speed as you can onto the short straight that follows.

- Turn in early for the next two turns after that short straight, carry as much speed as you can without taking a walk on the beach.

- You will now cross the line for the first split time, and you should have less than 53 seconds to make up now. My successful run was with 52.241 interval, but in other failed attrempts, I actually got the interval down to 51.000 at this split time.

- Take a tight line through the hairpin. If you are doing well, you will now see the S2000. If you are doing really well, you'll be able to pass him before the braking zone for the next turn.

- full throttle all the way to the next two turns, use 4th for the first, then drop down to 3rd when it tightens. Choose the line that lets you get full throttle ASAP so that you are going faster on the long straight. You should pass the Integra soon after coming onto this straight.

- The left hand sweeper is the hardest part of the course to get right. It can be taken at full throttle with the proper line, but the Civic will probably be in your way. You need to get by the Civic without spinning out, getting a penalty, or losing much speed. Doing this part correctly gets you a long way toward beating this mission. I ended up putting all four wheels on the grass at 260kph to pass the Civic at the apex of the turn.

- If you've carried enough speed through the sweeper, the Beat should be in the chicane just in front of you. You should be passing him either in, or immediately after the chicane, or else you aren't going to make it. In my case, I passed him before the pit entrance.

- The S500 should be in sight. Pass him for the win.

I just finished mission 34 yesterday and have a few tips:

On some of the slower corners it helps to put the two inside tires on the grass at the apex while accelerating. This helps turn the car because the outside rear wheel is providing much more acceleration than the inside, creating a twisting force (moment) in the direction of the turn.

If you haven't done the 4 hour nurburgring enduro yet, you can do that easily in the SLR and get some practice in. The closest settings I've found to the one in the mission seems to be S2 front S1 rear, TCS on, ASM off (not sure the numbers on the TCS, and I might be wrong on the tires).

I think it's fairly safe to say you'll be missing out with only the controller...

One thing I found in Seattle II with the Superbird, when going through the chicane leading onto the straight, 9 out of 10 times, I could, by snapping the wheel, go through the "hole", flat out, resulting in a MASSIVE powerslide with the wing just inches from the wall 👍 .. I'm sure there's people out there who can do it just as precise with the DS2, but I could never master that - with the DFP, it's a breeze (Well, not exactly a breeze, but you get my "drift" ;) )

That mission for some reason I had trouble with at the beggining. Then all of a sudden after the 5th try or so I nailed it. I came in first place BEFORE the 3rd lap started. Right now ive have every thing else ecvept the last mission. Time to practice and memorize.

It really is stupid how you have to rely on the AI in order to win this one. What I did was just pass the group on the first lap at around 282 km/h then I slowed down a little once I got in front, I stayed about 20m ahead of the one closest behind which was the black one in my case. For the first time this actually worked, thanks to reading these tips of yours. The black one picked up speed and zoomed ahead of me, then I drafted it. after that corner I did the same thing, except I just sling shotted myself away from the black one. By then I realized I had picked up enough speed to catch up to the yellow one on my own.

Out of all license tests and missions this is probably the worst one.

Hardest part about this mission is you have to rely on the AI not to mess around. Ive had one when i was nearing striking distance and one of the AI cars hit my 'draft buddy' and basically i was left in the lead with no one flying past me that straight.
Oh and ive found the best way is to get about 80-100m ahead out of the banking then they will fly past (if you dodge :) ) at a high speed and usually a second will follow that one and fly past him at a higher speed aswell.

. . . => . : => . :
AI1 AI2 ME || AI1 AI2 coming passed || ME AI1 coming passed AI2

Then you can draft either one untill you catch up (always near the corner) then wait till the next straight and go again

damn the spaces wont come up

Just passed it! I followed Famine's directions word for word. It took a couple tries because I would get bumped by the second car coming around me as I tried to duck in behind the first.

Thanks everyone for the help!

I found missions 21-24 really easy. Im stuck on the last test, Im like 40 some seconds off pace... damn eleventy billion mile track!!

thanks for the tips, up to 23 now, gonna give it a go and see if i can pass.

EDIT!!

pased it easy, me and one other guy broke away from the pack and drafted up to the yellow skyline. Won by 1.900

I've just spent the last hour or so on Mission 34.

I've beaten all other missions pretty easily.

This one...hmmm... I think I'll have it soon.

I've decreased my time pretty quickly and now I'm easily finishing within 10 secs of the lead car every time.

Using the splits posted on page 7 of this thread, I can tell I'm on the right track bc I'm ahead of schedule until the 5th split usually. Then, once I get to the last 2 or 3 I start keeping up again... so I guess I have to iron out the middle.

I've used a DS2 for all of this, and I'm hoping that it will serve as my launchpad into mission 34 completion! I'll keep you all posted.

I mis-read your post the first few times, and thought you said you were finishing 10 seconds in front of the lead car  I'm within about 8-10 seconds on my best run however it took a TON of tries to get a run I was happy with and could cross the finish line. More practice for me is definately an issue. Anxiously awaiting time line on when you beat it, just so I can get a general idea on how many more hours I have to crank into it.

I just finished 5.2 behind... and I ******* hit the 2nd place car and took the penalty. I still think I would've been about 1.5 sec behind at the line, but I know every inch of the track now and its just a matter of hitting all my marks perfectly and getting a little lucky.

It's gotten to the point where I'm always reaching the 5th place car mid karussel, passing it on the next straight, then chasing down the next car. Passing him is what I need to do to win for the most part... I've ran into him a bizillion times it seems now. If I can cleanly pass him without losing considerable time I should have it. The time I finished 5.2 back I passed him pretty well, but I know I lost some time.

For a while I was frustrated... But now Im so determined that I'm gonna get this done! I'm actually loving every moment of this, despite the waiting. But the perfection needed to complete the chase... only one way to describe it: BRILLIANT! 👍 👍 👍

I'm hoping to get this good at it by this weekend. I seem to be running 7'15 around it fairly consistantly on time trial, but that's still about 10-12 seconds or so behind I think. Have to push really hard to get a 7'12. I can totally agree on the amount of perfection needed to catch the first car -- I know if I add all the parts of my runs together to have a 'perfect' run, it's easily possible.

The problem is doing it :dopey:

It is brilliant! It is so gratifying when you finally succeed. To know that you drove almost perfectly for 7:10 or so. I saved my reply and watch it every time I turn on my PS2. It's great to watch!

Is there a good mark to aim for, on time trial to be able to get #34 finished with? I just pulled a 7:14.0 and went off course 2x (non-crashes, but still lost a second or two), so I'm getting closer :D

I thought it was 7:05 or so, but if it's 7:10 that's way easier 👍

7:10 is what you need to shoot for... keep in mind thats from standstill on grid position 6.

I figure this bc you start the challenge at 2:03, and the lead car always finishes at about 9:13.56- (so you need to beat 7:10.56-)

For me, the best way to figure out how well I was doing was to run the mission and check my split times to those posted earlier in the thread (p.7)
It tells you exactly where you are losing time to someone who actually completed the challenge. 👍

Nice, I'm getting close then! I better finish the Formula One Championships so I can get back to Mission Hall. 5 more to go

im finished behind leader 8-9 secounds about 3 times and all 3 times i screwed up somehow, the p7 split times help, im seeing where i need to improve on and im pushing it to the max, dont u hate it when just when one of ur rear tires catch the grass and it totally messes you up

and btw i use automatic i heard manual helps ur lap times but then its gonan take a whiel to get used to and take even longer to beat this. how much secounds do u think manual helps?

So far after a bit of practice I am able to get a 1:48.3 average (somtimes 1:47.9) on the first split. A 1:41.1 on the 2nd(i cant seem to master this part) and a 1:31.4 on the 3rd split. After that it all goes down hill........my times get real high after that. I cant get below 1:22 for the next split. I wish i could view a reply!

O btw I think manual will take a full 5 seconds off your total time if you do it well, compared to Auto. That is just imo.

Stepinfetch
A 1:41.1 on the 2nd(i cant seem to master this part)

I've pretty much mastered up through the 4th split.

A hint for the second split section:
Right after you go through split #1 you go down a hill and then come back up and catch a little air. As soon as all 4 are on the ground brake hard but not for very long, then pull a hard right and let your right side tires run up onto the strip on the corner and go full throttle. If you do this right you have tons of speed going into the next section. As you crest the hill 2 small corners after that youll probably be hitting about 144 MPH or even higher. As you continue you get another bit of airtime. Land, make sure you are going straight, and then the corner ahead is crucial. Basically, you use the previous strategy except this time youre going left and this time, its A LOT faster. If you make the turn and stay on course which takes some practice (you really need an early apex on this turn because hitting the strip allows your car to turn better)... then when you come out make sure your straight and not at all in the grass. You have to brake really hard almost as soon as you straighten out or youll run into the sand.

If you then make the right turn you head downhill towards the 3rd split. If all goes well you should find youself doing a little better than the split times posted... but keep in mind, sinc ethis section is high speed, the slightest miss of a mark will either A) cost you a second and youll lose a little time, but you should keep going for extra practive in later sections, or B) youll lose it and the run will be completely lost.

Occassionally I find myself amazed that I dont lose it in this section... when you have one of those amazing runs, calm yourself down and concentrate... I cant tell you how many times I've passed the first car by the karussel and gotten all excited, only to **** up a minute or so later and end up getting 2nd or 3rd.

Good luck, and keep working at it. You'll get there!

Thanks Rockhound, will do. Just got back from classes and am going to try that. That should help me dwindle down my times a bit more. 👍

Thanks for the suggestion. However, everytime I try taking that hill at a high speed, I crash into the right wall after I land as I can't seem to brake in time. I'll still try what you said, but if anyone has had this problem, I would appreciate some input on what I might be doing wrong here.

Thanks.

I'am also having trouble with mission 34, I'll get it soon though. My first time I tried the car was all over the place and at the end i was 40 seconds off the lead car! i've done it about 7 times now, my time is 19 seconds off the lead car, so my only advice is to really know the track, and just keep hittin your marks, be smooth through the turns. And im actually pretty happy about mission hall it's a whole new gt experience and it's really tough lol.

Finally, after many, many hours... I've caught and passed the 5th car on Mission 34 coming off the last turn. I was pumping my fist like I won the race, but I've never even had a visual on that guy. Now I own him. Still 21 more seconds to make up on that first guy, but I'm getting better....

well, these missions are brilliant, so far i have done 26 of em.

Ive should be up the the dreaded 34 soon, but until then im just gonna keep hotlapping the ring every now and again in arcade mode, the only way to beat these 1 lap magics are to know the track real good, It wont take long to get used to the car if you know the track.

I DID IT! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!

sorry for caps... but this deserves it!

Mission 34 complete!
All Missions complete!

Sorry I dont have ability to post a video replay or something cuz I dont have Action replay or anything, but if I can find one ill get a pic with a digital camera of the finish or the scoreboard with times or something soon!

Saved the replay, will watch it a bazillion times!

My time: 9'12.995
2nd: 9'13.511
mmmmm take it fool!!!!

MT MT MT MT MT MT MT- It's the key to all your problems!!!

PS: i did it with DS2, so yes, I guess it is possible (although im not the first to do it, and it took about 7 hours lol)
