I've considered waiting but it is extremely unlikely that it will be released here, let alone the U.S or any other place in the world upon it's international release.
And as for these special Diamond/Pearl DS, there are only a handful in all of Japan that are going to be able to be shipped here. And I plan to get my hands on one before they are all sold-out.
As for the 50% premium and your views on getting a regular DS instead, I'll only resort to that if I am unable to ship one here in time for Pearl/Diamond.
The reason towards my decision to get one of these DS' is simple; exclusivity and the exerience of having such a marvel.

Yeah Pokemon Diamond/Pearl are going to utilise VoIP so that you can talk to the person you're battling (headset comes out the same day as Diamond/Pearl)...obviously you need to be in an area with wireless internet to use it - or buy the $50 WiFi adapter.

I'd say it uses friends codes and you have a buddy list you can keep for quick access to people. You'll probably go into a Pokemon Center and then do something to battle.

Pearl, because it is my substitute birthstone, the colors on the box are way cool, and Palkia is cooler than lame diamond horse monster thing.

Tell me about this Wi-Fi connection thingy Omnis, does this mean by using a certain Nintendo adapter you and I could possibly go head-to-head against each other and people in places such as China?
I'm eager to get back into competiton Pokemon gaming (I used to be very good, you know) but unfortunately Pokemon events are far and very few from where I live so this Wi-Fi feature, assuming there will be leaderboards (and quite possibly, eventual invitations), will be a great addition.
I'm so jealous of you U.S members, you have the NY Pokemon store (A collector's dream) and a constant array of tournaments of the TCG and game-series alike. Not to mention various items that cannot be acquired anywhere else in the world (Apart from China, but the Diamond/Pearl edition DS was expensive...)
I might hold off on this or I might not, the only reason is that I am yet to get a DS, and the most favourable way of purchasing one would be to buy a Pokemon editon DS with the two games all together. I know, but I can't help collecting such novelty items. I can only hope that AU shores will be allocated a few.

So the inbuilt Wi-Fi in the DS Lite will mean that at anytime you can play against someone in another country?
493 Pokemon eh? Now I have to recreate a new database consisting of recommended attacks and battle schemes for half-a-thousand Pokemon...and would I kill to be in NY on the 22nd this month...
Oh, and if anyone here is looking for the absolute best and definitive resource of news on Pokemon, look no further than Pokemonelite2000.com or Pe2k.com, it's amazing how much news is still pouring out from the Pokemon frnachise to this day...

I think there are 151 in the main part, but i was talking about the national dex.
Does anyone here by some chance still play any of the 1st generation games, i did the Missingno. trick on Pokemon Blue, then went to glitch city.
I don't like Pokemonelite 2000 that much, i've found a good site...
