It probably will. For me, it freezes in Dubai (!) already when I use the works F1 in the one maker championships of the LE. :indiff:

At Bathrust don't go flat out. After 5th gear if you don't rev inside the red line its OK. It works for me with the Pagani's Cinque and R (so far)

The same principle applies to the Ring and maybe to other tracks where freezes might occur (luckily not to me :P)

For those who are willing to try, let me know if it works. I sincerely hope so.

No. The actual speed is not important, its the PI of the car and then its only a matter of time. With my Bentley Conti Works on the Nordschleife it freezes everytime, sometimes at speeds as low as 150 kph. And on the parted track as well as on the complete track.

The F1 Works race at Dubai got me a freeze once while slowly limping back from being knocked out the first corner, once in the first hairpin.

My Murci Works at Spa is the only 1800+ car that ever caused me a freeze over 300 kph. The rest was before that speed.

Well as ive ranted about this game, i think its time i raved some as well.

When the game isnt freezing, and when the steering is dialed in, the game is actually pretty damn fun. Its not easy thats for sure, which is a good thing. There seems to be tons of racing to be had, and its good to have a challenge whilst doing so thats for sure.

Ok to me its no GT5, but its coming prettty close. Its just a shame that SMS/EA seem to not know that, otherwise im sure the bugs would get fixed much more sooner than they appear to be.

If they can do that, and NOT push away customers by ignoring the stuff that needs to be fixed, then i think they will have an excellent base to go on from, with any newer games they create in the series. If indeed they choose to do so. It would be a shame if all the work put into this game was for nothing.

I've been hosting some GT1 and GT3 races and have had some of the best racing online ever. Sometimes being always .5 second or less than a second behind or me behind them and one mistake and they get a overtake. This is full like the entire 3 race.

Yea, there's a lot of rammers online but occassionally you will get an amazing race.

Have you guys seen this? The creator did some sick editing 👍

Haha, very nice:tup: Just shows the people who have taken the time to set-up their game are very passionate about it. Shift 2 is a ton of fun when you get the settings straightened out.

Picked up the PC version of S2U at my local game shop for 20 euro. Together with the free DLC, that's a real bargain. 👍

If you have a little time, you may want to check out this guy's "Game Diaries" on S2U. Not sure where this guy (Tom Chick) is coming from (motives?) but he sure has a talent for interesting writing. His S2U ramblings seem to start on April 8th (link below) and the subsequent articles (8 or so) can be followed by selecting the "Up Next" link at the end of the articles. I haven't read all of the articles yet but they definitely seem to be "Appreciation" in nature.

They were a good read. For a person who claims to not have much mechanical aptitude, he has a pretty good grasp on it all and a great ability to create entertaining analogies from it

So... I've been playing Shift2 pretty solidly for the past 2 weeks.

I put GT5 back in tonight to do the new seasonals...

Umm... I cannot help but think the driving in GT5 actually feels less realistic! It just seemed so stagnant by immediate comparison

Hi guys. I'm a 59 year-old newbie, and never used driving games up until my boy bought Shift1...which I loved so much that I went out and bought Shift2 just for ME.

I use Xbox 360 with matching wireless wheel. The wheel seems to be set up fine as standard, unlike some of the problems I've heard about with other wheels used on Shift2.

Anyway, on the subject of how 'realistic' the driving experience is, well I've only had a little experience of PGR4 and GRID, neither of which I found at all realistic.

I'm a bit of a petrolhead, been 'proper' driving for 42 years, and all I can say is that with a bit of tuning the Shift2 driving experience is pretty good so far. Perhaps it is an advantage to me that I haven't got used to something like the GT series or Forza, so I don't know any different ?

I race online too, and usually I'm pretty competitive and can achieve wins and podiums, even with my older person's lousy reactions. No driving god, but not in anyone's way either.

Only problem is, my upchange paddle has recently busted, so have to use auto and just downchange going into corners. :irked:

I have noticed that the brakes are more effective when using the gamepad (which normally I'm hopeless using of course...not being an experienced gamer.), rather than the wheel. Not sure how I can improve things there.

I think Shift2 is a really good experience now that some of the early bugs (freezing for instance) have been ironed out.👍

This wasn't online, so only slow AI getting bumped off: :embarrassed:

Not bad for an old bugger ;) (I jest!)

Vaught Gittin Jr's fellatio at the end of each race really gets old quickly though doesnt it?!

You mention you're a petrol head, have you put your real life pride and joy up in the members rides area? :)

Hi mate...thanks for the kind comments. lol!

I have just sold this car (TVR 390SE S2), and there'll be another TVR along shortly. I've had 5 now. They're basically a very loud and quick V8 made for hooligans like me. lol!
There's a vid of my 400SE...similar car, on youtube.

Here's the 390:

You are able to change the braking pressure in the tuning menu. You can even test it before saving.

Nice TVR... I wish I had one but gas its very expensive and I don't think I can get one in Portugal - luckily...

Reading through a few pages of this thread makes me want to actually start playing my copy. ;)

I rented Shift 2 for a week and had no idea Bathurst was in the game. :dunce:
I might have to re-rent it again or buy it for cheap because thats one of my favorite tracks.

Since this is the appreciation thread, I thought the interior view was excellent. Especially the lighting and the way everything reflected off the windshields. Felt very realistic.

Best track list in any game IMO. Even the fantasy tracks have a real world track feel to them. Glad you are enjoying it, its a great game that people usually dont even attempt to play.

Strange I even looked up the track list and it does not list Bathurst. Is there another name for Bathurst? Kills me that GT5 and Forza do not have Bathurst. My favorite track. Last game I played that had that track was Toca.

Real name of the track is Mt. Panorama, in Bathurst Aus.

So I finally got Shift 2. Really quick, I think its great. While it may not be as much a "sim" as GT5, it just gets it right. The cars just feel right, I can feel the rear break lose, stuff like that, they really did a great job with it.

Two things I don't like: Elimination events - they seem to be just a frenzied crash fest. Totally frustrating and not fun. Drifting: I tried the drifting tutorial, by the slalom portion I was completely nauseous from spinning around in circles. I just can't get it right.

But otherwise, I look forward to continuing through the game career!

First, the more you play and get into tuning, understand the tire wear, and the whole car setup, you will actually see its more of a sim racer than GT5 is. And every car has a cockpit! :) :)

I skipped the drifting...its bad in this game. Real bad. I am not a fan of drifting anyway. It feels tacked on. Good thing, you dont have to do it to advance.

Elimination can be frustrating, especially at the start. Its not so bad after a while. I think there is only one line of events with this. Again not the best kind of racing in S2 and its short.

My advice is to get some people on your Autolog...that pretty much makes the game playable for months everyday.

Wait, there is tire wear in this game?

I m really tires of the question if GT5 or Shift 2 is the more realistic sim. Who gives a donk - Shift 2 is by far the much more thrilling, andrenline pumping, more spectacular and immersive experience and thats what counts for me. GT5 bores my socks off ever since I first tried Shift 2...

Yes, but no way to change tires or pit, so be gentle during long races. ;)

They both focus on different aspects of simulation, so which one you prefer is a matter of opinion. Fanboys claiming one is more realistic than the other, have no idea what they are talking about (though this is not the thread to discuss this ;)).

Really liking the Driver cam now. At launch with the excessive input lag, I was like wtf is this? After the patches I tried again and it's awesome, if only they'd reduce the input lag completely.
