So if he isnt your friend how could you tell he had regional records? and can you see what kind of car the world recordist used without being his friend?

Thanks to you I just got today my first regional record :D đź‘Ť

I guess it shows the Regional and world record in the records menu.

Autolog shows who has the regional record. Not the car though...

Yeah, not sure about the car, though, I'm new to this Autolog stuff...I'm still exploring it.

He and Arvore are very fast so much that - I was struggling with the AI on medium on some events and now I had to put it on hard and they no longer put up a fight :dunce: I even placed my first ever regional record today because of those two :D though Im sure it wont last long :nervous:

Nah, just average...still 6 seconds away from WR :ouch:even in the 2 or 3 I managed to get the regional Yesterday...and it was in the same car since it was those loaner events.

I stole You Laguna GT3 Yesterday...:P;). Did You got that one back?!.:scared:

Yes I know you did :grumpy: and it took me half an hour ... but I manage to beat you by 4 seconds and got my first regional record... :D then I switched the PS3 internet off :sly: And I dont know if Im ever going to turn it on again :scared: I just want to enjoy this feeling as long as I cant :D;)

Cought*2,418*cought...:sly:
I'm working on it...;)

Sorry you are right :embarrassed: it was 4 seconds but from previous time... please take your time you dont need to prove me anything :nervous:

:guilty: well it was good while it lasted

No,no was just for the fun...ok either way I have plenty of other Autolog challenges coming my way...and Your time is going to be freaking hard to beat:sly:;)

Just realized why I love this game: I was in a pitched battle for 7th place last night with the AI (Legends pack, Porsche RSR vs Porsche RSRs and Shelby Cobras) and loved it. I can't think of another game where I would have fought so hard for 7th place - normally I would have just zoned out and finished for the money/points and that would be it. Here I didn't care about 1st - 6th, I just wanted to beat the guy in 7th I was trading paint with for 4 laps!!

I'm tired after an hour trying to tame the works Huayra at Catalunya and Suzuka (one of the short tracks - East?).

I think I have to buy a Reventon for Catalunya... Hint HInt :D

But I was amazed how I I did those times because that car is a beast and too much for me. Even GT1 cars are easier to drive (at least the Ford is awesome)

Maybe its time for me to set the AI to medium or even easy. I'd like to beat the game on hard but I reached the limit of my driving skills at the Works events :(

Excuse me now... I have to practice :P

PS: I'm not that fast. Hot laps are one lap among many. Its just a matter of keep trying. I'd rather be consistent but my attention span does not allow that...

Just had the most intense race ever! Was trying to finish the Spa endurance race, already tried a few cars and couldn't really get close to 1st place.

This time I tried it in my Megane RS fully tuned, no works. Was still up against porsches, R8's and caterhams. I think they had more PI than me cause they were very fast, especially the 2 porsches that came 2nd and 3rd. Think it took me 6 or 7 laps to finally take 1st place (also 3 laps for 2nd place already). The porsche in 1st place just kept getting away from me on the straights and was faster in most corners as well. But the few corners where the AI is a bit slower were just enough for me to still pass them. After lap 7 though I couldn't get away from those 2 porsches at all, always saw them in my mirror and got some small pushes in the corners where I was slower. It pretty much kept going like this the entire race. Almost crashed my car at lap 19 but luckily I could get it back on the track fast and it didn't spin out (have to love FWD cars!). After that everything went well again and finished 1st with a 2 or 3 seconds lead on the 2 porsches. Rest of the AI cars were a bit slower, they didn't set a time so couldn't see how far away they were at the end.

Was really a great race, I like all these 20 lap endurances. You don't really get forced to take 1st place fast but it's still very exciting. The other 4 endurances were a lot easier though, had a bigger lead there.

So after lots of complaining its time for a rave from me again: Its incredible how immersive the game really is... I did the modern iron muscle car event, last race @ Road America, got magneto force sucked out of the first corner while trying to take over 1st place on the inside line and had to plow all the way through the field from 7th of 8 to win - on hard/elite! Had to pull some tense maneuvers really on the edge... in a freaking Challenger! A cow on wheels! Took over 1st place before the 3rd to last corner with a perfect pass using every last inch of the track and for the first time in a long while I jumped up and pumped my fist after the race! :D

Actually I m still only at around 60% of career mode cause those races cost so much energy. I cant do more than maybe 10 of them a day. Contrary to GT5, where I can play for hours and not feel exhausted.

Says a lot about how thrilling those 2 games are to me!

Yeah, that's definately true. Have to work really hard to win these races, with hard/elite at least, never tried other settings. And you probably had that during a normal race, just wait till you do the endurance races!

Just finished the Nordschleife day and night endurances myself. Thought the Spa endurance race was already intense, it was nothing compared to these two. Used the Falken Porsche 911 GT3 RSR for these and it was really the perfect car for the job. It drives very nicely on the Nordschleife with default tune.
Unlike you'd expect, I had the most trouble during the day one. You pretty much start at the end of the pack and have to work your way to the front while the AI is very good on the Nordschleife as well. There are just a few corners where they sometimes make mistakes and go a bit wide. Only got to 1st place during the 3rd lap and couldn't really get away from the rival (Tommy Milner) and some Corvette. Managed to stay 1st though but only had a 5 second lead at most.

Then at night it was a bit easier, you start at front so you just have to manage to stay there the whole race. :P The AI also seems a bit slower during the night or I was just faster, I don't know. Had a 10 second lead or something but then during the 2nd lap I crashed into a wall and damaged my wheel, the car was pulling to the left after that. Could've restarted the race but wanted to see if I could finish like that. The whole pack was still pretty far behind but Tommy Milner had a big lead on them and was right on my tail after this crash and he stayed there the entire race. Only on the last lap I gained a bit more and finished with a 5 or 6 second lead or so.

Only thing that was a bit weird was that they were very fast at the Karussell, like twice the speed I was going through it and I couldn't really take the corner any faster. Even saw Tommy Milner hit the wall there pretty hard (during the day one) and he still managed to get out of the corner faster than me, gaining at least 1 second. I see this more often though on banked corners or very tight corners. The AI is always a lot faster than me in those.

And I also got the clean lap objectives on both so won't have to go back to these races anymore. :P Even though I liked these enduraces, I wouldn't want to do them a 2nd time.

The endurance races are my favourite at the moment - I have been choosing D class cars so that the races are very close with lots of opportunities for exciting battles. Yesterday I entered a race in a MX5 (470 PI); it took 10 laps to fight my way up to 2nd place and then it was back and forth between me and another MX5. On lap 19 I was back in 2nd place and during an overtaking manouvere I knocked the 1st place AI off the track and knwoing this was my error I slowed up to let then pass and never managed to get 1st place. Even though I came 2nd the race was one of the most rewarding virtual races I have ever had. I intend going back to the endurance races again and again with different cars as they offer for the best offline racing of any game/sim I've played (not including RBR as thats just you and the clock!)

If I can't concentrate then I can't race fast, I have to be able to focus intently to go fast.

But I can drive on the edge in GT5/FM3 half asleep after a double shift at work. That is what makes this game special to me in a way only LFS really has before. It requires such concentration and energy to go fast that you genuinely feel tired after a 15 lap fight.

Yeah rts, I know what you talkin about. I can play GT5 for 8 hrs straight without a problem - with S2U its 2-3 hrs max and then I m in dire need of a break! And that is one of the games biggest accomplishments imho...

Also: I started to play GT3 today, what a blast! Those are the best races I came by yet (the single exhibitions and Silverstone), had some really intense battles and the cars are incredibly fun to drive! Cant say I m looking too forward to the carnage that will surely take place in the city tour, though... :D

Just had the best race EVER! 20 lap Spa Enduro, my car Lexus ISF, minor mods, class C, on hard difficulty. Started mid pack, took about 2-3 laps to catch up with the leader, then intense battle with a Maserati Grandturismo for the lead which went on for serveral laps. swapped places lap after lap, I was faster through the corners, the Maserati quicker down the straights, managed to pull a bit of a gap out with 4 laps to go, then stupid me ran wide at the bus stop and let him back through BUGGER! chased him down for the remaining 3 laps, driving like I stole it, proper on the edge stuff! caught him up on the final lap, going into the bus stop, do or die move down the inside, bit of rubbing, but thought I was through, but no the git was still there and out powered me out of the corner! Only the harpin to go, I stuck to the inside, out braked him, got along side, then drag race to the line...........got him JUST!....THAT WAS INTENSE!!!....I now love this game, you never got races that good in GT5!

I'm probably a bit late to the party, but I just got into the LE content races, Manufacturer Showdown and Old vs. New. I love these races! They're really two races each because you choose the car to race with and I always try it with both.

All I can say is Thank God for SMS!

Best console racer out their! Yes better than GT5 /FORZA 3

The toca series was my fave but this tops it. Great selection of tracks/cars
Yes we always want more but with their limited time and resorces put out a great game. To bad EA could'nt hire Ian Bell and Co and put out a racing series to rival sonys and M.S. Oh well we can always hope..

ps I wish for One last track Mid Ohio (I D/L for race pro what a great track)

Thanks SMS!!! :gtpflag:

Just had some fun at the semi final of the driver duel championship. My opponent already took me out in the first corner of the first race so I already knew what I had to deal with right away. He was driving very badly but I didn't manage to pass him anymore that race. Second race I think he got hit on his screen cause of lag, I'm sure I didn't even touch him on my screen (might have happened in the 1st race as well when he hit me, I don't know). Then in the next corner he tries to crash into me at full speed but misses me and crashes into the barrier. Easily won this second race. Then on the third race he starts first since the AI messed up for me and I was already behind half a second. He makes a mistake at the first corner and I pass him clean. Then in the next few corners he tried to crash into me again at full speed but he just kept missing me. So I won the 3rd race as well cause he wasn't even trying to race. Maybe if he actually tried he would have had some more chance.

It's really sad that people do this in this championship (or any other online race event..). Anyway, now waiting at the final. Will probably take ages again before someone enters.

Finally won the Driver Duel Championship! Was a pretty easy last round though, luckily got someone that didn't just try to push me off the track at every corner. It was with the Murciélago R-SV GT1 on Nurburgring GP at night, one of the tracks I'm really good at (probably cause of the X2010 challenge in GT5, ran this track so many times). Was also a great car, handles very nicely.
Won the 1st round after a few corners already since I had a 5 second lead so nothing special there. The 2nd round I had around 3 sec lead right before the last chicane but while I was taking that chicane with pretty much a perfect line I saw my opponent just cutting it at full speed and I got a little push in the last corner right after it. He won the 2nd round because of that. So since I knew he'd probably do that again in the 3rd round I just wanted to try getting the 5 second lead again by driving as fast as I could in the first few corners. Took me a bit longer than on the 1st round but managed to get that 5 sec lead right before the chicane so the championship crown was mine! And the Trophy ofcourse, most important. :P

I'll just stay at the championship now, not going to do it again for extra crowns. If anyone else is having trouble with this driver duel championship but still manage to get to the championship round, just PM me here if you want a free win. I know how much it sucks to lose at these higher rounds against some unfair player, especially after waiting for hours for someone to join the lobby. This offer is only for active people here though, not someone who just joined with 1 post. :P And maybe you could then do the same for some other GTP member.

I'd LOVE to see Mid-Ohio too! I think the Race-Pro version didn't get the elevation changes right...but it was still fun.

Thats a really nice offer from you, fire! Especially since all the pain-in-the-rear stories you ve told about that damn championship. Dunno if I ll ever do it, though - since I messed up the intro event I ll never get the platin trophy anyway.

But thank you in the name of all GTP shifters!

Well I'd just be happy that I can help someone else with this crappy trophy. Would be a waste to just stay at the top without ever doing the championship again anyway. Or losing it to some unfair player when trying to get more crowns..

since I messed up the intro event I ll never get the platin trophy anyway.

Just back up your save, delete it and start a new game to get that trophy. Put your old save back after that and you'll still have the trophy. Also make sure you stay offline when starting a new game since I heard it might mess up autolog times.

Just completed the game, got my Platinum Trophy! :D

Last trophy I needed was the Notorious one where you have to play online for 10 hours. Did my last online race in my favorite car and on my favorite track, Subaru Impreza WRX STI (works) on the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Made everyone use this same car as I wanted it to be close but I still won with a 20 second lead or so. :P

Happy I finally got the platinum trophy after all these annoying moments I've had in Shift 2. Ofcourse I also had a lot of great races, both offline and online. Just feels like I have nothing left to do in this game right now since I'm not a huge fan of autolog/time trials. Pretty much the only reason I kept playing was to get this last trophy. Guess I'll return to GT5 again, online racing is a lot more fun for me there. Maybe if all these bugs in Shift 2 get fixed and online will get a bit better I might play this more again. For now though, the Shift 2 disc is going out of my PS3 after being in there for a bit over a month (unless taking the disc out and back in to reboot my PS3 faster after a freeze counts as something, which I've done many many times). I just hoped it would have lasted longer. It's definately a great game but all these issues sadly are a bit too much for me to enjoy it.

Congratulations Hunter đź‘Ť

While I'm here, a little thing I love about Shift2...

When you sell a car or parts, you get all your money back unlike GT5 where you get ripped off

I know the above is well documented, but I thought I'd mention how much I like it :D

Yeah, so, something clicked for me. Went from firing the game up three times since March (about 2 hours total), to logging over 10 hours the past three or four days. Level 15 now, loving every second.

My only complaint is that it seems to take a really nice run to get 1st place on most races, which is fine, but it means that every crash involves starting over, which leads to a lot of :56 .... restart .... 1:23 ... restart .... 3rd .... :21 ... restart ... 5th ..... 1:12 .... restart ... 3rd ... restart, etc.

But I suppose that's not even much of a complaint for a racer.

Point is, can't get enough. I'm in complete love.

Well, after some grinding in GT3 and GT1 classes(that's ok it was for Autolog 's sake:P) and much saving, I was able to get my hands on the Mclaren F1:).
What a handful.:scared:
I works convert it, did some tuning to make it more "driver friendly", and went for some regional records on the Retro events.:dopey:(Word records are broken due to the pre patch v1.0 bug where the first lap didn't count:indiff:
It's a whole different game with it...relearning all the break points, never break while cornering, never flat out before straightening the wheels, no-no to sliding:), and damn FAST!
Now I'm just afraid it will freeze on me if I try to take it to SPA or Bathurst.:nervous:
