It's not really a claim about what a car is capable of, but I got a message from one user - nd 4 holden spd - after I'd bad-mouthed Holdens telling me that if I did that in Australia, I'd be "seriously hurt".

I don't actually have the message right now because I deleted it on account it was largely the whinging and whining of a prepubescent Holden fanboy, but if he does reply, I'll be sure to stick it here. It might be a little against forum policy, but it's pretty much the same semantics that came up in the Dear Kazunori thread; they're merely aimed at me.

Now for the meat of this post:

If I walk into a chruch, a mosque or a synagogue and desecrate the bible, koran or torah, then I'm likely to be in line for a thrashing that would probably be well-deserved. But if I go to Mount Panorama during Bathurst and sit with the Ford fans and say that Holden isn't Australian because t's owned by GM, I'm not going to get beaten up.

How do I know this?

Because I've been living in Australian twenty-one years. And my stance on the whole thinghas pretty much been the same during that time. And nobody has ever raised a finger against me for it. So, nd 4 holden pd, I don't know which backwoods part of the country you're living in to believe that people who don't like Holdens get a bit of rough justice. In fact, I'd say it goes against all the Australian "values" you claim to uphold.

That's reasonably ludicrous, but not quite as ludicrous as:

im 50 now, i passed my driving test in 1974 and my first car was a 67 Austin Mini Cooper 1275cc

my second car was a 86 ford sierra rs500 cosworth

my third car was a 96 911 turbo

and my latest addition is the new dbs aston martin in goodwood racing green

Here.

When you take into consideration the fact that the DBS isn't available in "Goodwood Racing Green". Or in fact any green. Or that Aston Martin don't offer "Goodwood Racing Green" (that's a Renault colour). Or that Aston Martin haven't actually delivered any of the cars yet...

Maybe if you drove a Ford with "Peter Brock blew goats" written down the side of it into the Holden-fanboy section at Bathurst in the middle of the weekend when everyone is drunk. Even then I think you'd be pushing it.

holden vs Ford debate is one that is pure jest and such is talk for fun and friendly banter. Its not any more serious than this.

Haha worst I have been is called some....... unfriendly names, strangly when I am in my Import I get a lot of it from the usual Holden/Ford patriots that think you have to be loyal to one make of car? I also own a classic Holden which I used to (its a project atm) get the same from some import owners (nowhere near as bad though).....Can't win but I just like cars, don't care who made it.

*EDIT*

Actually now I think of it a couple months ago I was filling fuel in my Nissan and some moron rough passenger in a VT Commdore SS came along and asked to drag race me down the street, I did the usual "keep it on the track, dangerous etc etc" and that got him quite irritated, he started yelling how I was scared to loose (which I wouldn't have but thats not the point) to the point where he came at me rapidly and I thought I was going to have to 'defend' myself. nothing ended up happening when his friend came along and they left doing a 'rip snortin' burnout on the way out.

Well, now it's resulted in threats of physical violence:

I don't think you know what you're on about, and that stuff before wasn't about Holden being better than anything else, it was about why they are Australian, but obviously you're too much of a c**k Head and too daft to read. Hope you never meet me boy, pain will be in your alleyway.
Apparently there will come a time when I will wish I had never met the user.

Mister, I'm already there!

Is he threatening to do what I think he is to you? :nervous: In which case he may be disproving his own argument about Holden owners being manly men.

Please forward those PMs to me. Thank you.

But if I go to Mount Panorama during Bathurst and sit with the Ford fans and say that Holden isn't Australian because t's owned by GM, I'm not going to get beaten up.

Surely, by that logic, Ford isn't Australian either, because it isn't an Australian company? (Which is a shame for Australia, because that's pretty much their whole car industry :D)

that Holden isn't Australian because t's owned by GM, I'm not going to get beaten up.
thats not entirely true Holden was orginally an Australian car company whereas ford started out as an american company so basicly it would be like you saying that jaguar is american because its owned by ford yet ask everyone else and they would say its british.

Holden was orginally an Australian car company
But the Monaro/Commodore SS uses a Corvette engine, which is American. The Falcon engines are Australian ;)

Yet some people take it too far (ie nd 4 holden spd). I bet at least half of the Holden/Ford fanboys haven't even driven a Commodore/HSV/Falcon/FPV, and so have no real right to seriously say whether something's crap or the best thing since sliced bread.

It's not like the Brits have fights where a Jag fanboy says an Aston's rubbish to an Aston man, is it?

(for the record, I root for Ford in the V8 Supercars ;))

I'm not positive if this is the color, but there will be an Aston Martin Racing Green offered as a color option.

He says he's got one, and the main problem here us that the DBS isn't out yet. And when it is, there won't be a green one at launch.
You'll have to wait a while before they come out in any sort of green, though. There are only three launch colours, Casino Royale, Lightning Silver and Storm Black. There is a red show car, and also a couple of AMR Green cars hanging around.

That's fine and all. I'm just going by what AutoBlog says, and they make it appear that is a color currently available.
The color is Racing Green -- specifically, Aston Martin Racing Green. This is the same shade developed by DuPont for Prodrive's Le Mans-winning Aston Martin Racing DBR9, and with those dark gray wheels, all that's missing is the yellow or orange "lipstick" around the radiator grille for maximum effect. Incidentally, the other colors announced for the DBS are Lightning Silver, Infa Red, and Casino Royale (heh). For good measure, we'd also snag a Velocity Yellow Corvette Z06 to bolster the GT1 wing of the mythical Autoblog Super Garage. Yeah, we tend to daydream a bit on Fridays.
It almost appears as if it's announced to be 1 of the color options available with Casino Royale & Lightning Silver.

Again, I'm just saying. Not trying to say Venari is wrong.

You'll have to wait a while before they come out in any sort of green, though. There are only three launch colours, Casino Royale, Lightning Silver and Storm Black. There is a red show car, and also a couple of AMR Green cars hanging around. Some of the earlier prototype cars were made in the Vantage Roadster launch colour, a light met. blue (I forget the name) and also the fabulous Tempest Blue, a kind of azure-blue-green. I love that colour.

The one that Autocar had only looked green because after they crashed the first one, the second one that was handed to them was A) a different colour, and B) not the same type. Have another look at their review, and check out the Federal sidemarker lights. Now you see them... now you don't.

Green cars exist, but they aren't customer ones and, crucially, no examples have left the factory for customers yet.

KX57 AOK is definitely AMR Green though, he's right. I know too, because I've driven it. Actually, I've driven them all, because I have to; it's part of my job.

Oh, oh, oh, I'm making a ludicrous claim!... oh wait.

/irony

;)

I tell you what, I'll ask what the launch colours are tomorrow.

Wow. I bet you hate getting out of bed in the morning and going to work. How awful for you.

Who do you work for?

We're sort of both right.

You can order a DBS in any of the stock colour pallette (including AMR Green and Infra Red) but only the three colours I mentioned will be unique to the DBS.

The first customer car to be built, for example, is Meteorite Silver. However, it still isn't built yet. ;)

Since I am party to this information... who do you think I work for?..

Not the Renault colour catalogue then?

From the WRS'ers and thier ride... thread, where you're supposed to post details and pictures of your real life cars! Hysterical post, and 2 subsequent funny debunkings by VEXD & The Cracker!

Subaru Impreza Sport Wagon STi

Stratospeed Widebody Kit

Nitrous Express NOS.

Cadillac Escalade

Mods: Lambo Doors
TSW Mondello 25" Rims
Jackson Racing ECU

Wow, a convertible estate car (the first of its kind in the world!)

And an Escalade with TWO, count em, 2 ECU's working in harmony.

👎:irked:
I have too much time to read it seems.

I can't find any evidence that TSW make a Mondello at anything bigger than a 20", Their own website would seem to back me up on this. I think somebody is getting confused with what they have in their Need for Speed garage.

I love it how the "no pics sorry" clause seems to be an automatic way of assuring you have said car.

I was first to note out the Estate Convertible problem...

formula_seeker claiming he's a WRSer...

He also claims to be a rather "skillz"ed one, at that.

Not to mention walking in on every conversation he sees, stating his very false opinion, or publishing his very inexistant laptimes, or unreasonable speeds - as Ron said:

To have something verified you must supply the proof! .. namely a replay and since you don't have a replay device you are simply pissing into the wind :sly:
