OK, I have to say something - but sorry for not saying anything

I posted this previously in the thread, but it probably bears repeating occasionally. I have a feeling that Kazunori-dono, or perhaps someone in SONY, thought the discouragement here and elsenet was getting a little too thick, and gave Amar the green light to post something cryptic to give us a glimmer of hope and enthusiasm. It was possibly reviewed before he posted it. I wouldn't doubt this in the least, because the downer talk was really getting heavy around here for a while. We needed some kind of boost, and with Kaz and the lads working on something special for us, it would be a bad idea to reveal it early, especially with the tendency for Microsoft to run off with ideas.

So we got a teaser. That irritated a few of us, but I enjoyed it a lot. I found the posts in the thread fun to read, and the speculation was cool. And look, E3 really isn't all that far off, certainly much closer than Christmas. It will be here before we know it, and then we can all nibble on hors d'oeurves served to us in screenshots, videos and interviews while we wait for the fiest to come. :D

👍

GT is one of Sony's big ticket exclusives. Keeping EVERYTHING about the game pretty much secret is probably done more for the sake of maintaining an edge over the competition, than to annoy, tease and taunt the fans of the game.

No, how often do you read in a magazine "there is big news about this game, but we can't publish it". Pretty rarely is the answer, as mentioned above subject to the terms in the agreement that alone could be an infringment, perhaps of lesser proportions but an infringment regardless. You occasionally hear them print to expect something big but this is always subject to the producers wishes, the journalists will be sure to check if they are legally allowed to even hint at something coming. A magazine will never publish against an NDA agreement because in the long run it will cost them.

No you don't, but neither do you hear respected journalists, a number of whom are huge GT fans say, 'nope, we haven't a clue about GT5's content or release date', when questioned in podcasts etc. if something is known, just as they respect review embargoes and secret game information, but still acknowledge them without breaking NDA's.

There's a whole host of major assumptions being peddled as fact, it's reminiscent of the much anticipated Fall update for GT5P, just wait, just wait etc.

Err... you're going to have to clue us in on this, because outside of Prologue's content and the fact that the online system is going to be more developed, the "facts" being peddled on the net are pretty much zero.

  • As many cars as GT3, or GT4? Or more?
  • As many tracks as GT4? Or less? Or all of them from every version?
  • Damage? Weather? Time changes? Race mod? Livery editor? Or none of the above?
  • A substantial Career Mode? Or the same GT and Arcade Mode as before?
  • Sexy bikini car wash girls? Or just guys in overalls? :sly:

We probably won't know until E3. Right now, all we really have is Prologue, and hints of greatness, but certainly no real facts. I know this bugs some of you nearly to death, but, tomorrow does eventually come. ;)

I posted this in PS3 General discussion but I wouldn't be suprised if this was one of the things in Amar's oven:

http://kotaku.com/5187660/what-is-sony-announcing-on-tuesday

Sony dropped Kotaku a line to let us know that something is going down on Tuesday, March 31st. Could it be the long-rumored price cut is finally upon us?

Or could it be something completely different? Rumors have been doing little twirly things all over the internet over the past few weeks regarding a potential PlayStation 3 price cut, and while our first thought was "Why would they announce it several days after GDC?", apparently they are indeed announcing something several days after GDC. Go figure.

We're leaning towards a price cut, but we've got a sneaking suspicion that it's the PlayStation 2 dropping to $99, and not a cut for the PlayStation 3.

All we know so far is that they're announcing something.
gt5?

I'd love the announcement to be something, anything about GT5, but I can't see it happening. I'll happily be wrong though :)

E3 can't come soon enough!

That's the assumption right there, something will be shown at E3, based on what?
Because in the OP E3 was the only clearly stated thing. So, unless it is some kind of code (quick, get out your Battleship games!) it seems that news before, or at, E3 is the only clear thing that was said.

I'm going to find the wait even more painful when I see what I'm waiting for!

Aw, I reckon Battleship would make a fantastic on-line PSN game.

I know that Hasbro Family Game night is coming to the XBLM, but each game is being sold separately at $10 a pop. I'm hoping that they do well so they will put them on PS3 too. I'm not big on $10 a game when the Wii and PS2 get all of them for $30-$40, but they aren't on-line. Battleship as a video game in the same room loses the whole point.

As nice as that Best Motoring video might be, what has that got to do with the topic on hand?

Free GT5 instant download for all GT5P owners?

"You can't imagine the price of it" and "The Fiest is even known today" kinda refer to this. Tomorrow?

GT5 won't be on anything other than PS3, end of. X-Box discs (DVDs) simply don't have the space on them I would imagine is needed for GT5.

I assume 'all platforms' refers to PS3 and PSP - unless amar's oven is referring to something totally unexpected.

maybe "all platforms" means PS2 PSP and PS3? In the end it says that there will be a psp and ps3 version on E3!?

GT5 won't be on PS2 either, not a hope in hell. GT4 stretched what the PS2 could do to the utter limits as it was. I would not be surprised if who ever wrote that either had poor choice of words or was mis-informed.
