Don´t remember myself but doesn´t PD usually announce their stuff under the sony banner at conventions or do they do their own boths?

And there is something else cooking, which you can't even imagine the price of it.
If you can't imagine the price of it, I'd say it's priceless. And wouldn't it be priceless to be able to race in real-time, online, in for example a Formula 1 race against the likes of Hamilton? The technology to make that possible is already available, look here for more info.

The company that makes this possible "is indirectly in contact regarding GT" I learned recently from a reliable source (which I will not disclose). Now, I don't know what they mean by "indirectly", but I can imagine that all contacts would go through Sony, as Sony must probably make adjustments to the PS3 online engine to make all that race data availabe for all its games in one go. Also, the PS3's could be used to distribute that data as fast as possible among each other in a p2p fasion.

The first console race application is expected, by them, at the of this year. I can see only two console race games that could benefit from this technology and come out (late) this year: Colin McRae Dirt 2 and GT5.

It's a lot of speculation, but isn't that what this lovely thread is all about? :dopey:

Nice speculation and even nicer technology but the needed banwidth and upload speeds should be in pair with CIA's. Not even to speak about FTTH as a must. Next decade maybe.

What are CIA's and what is FTTH?

To be honest i don´t think the bandwidth for somthing like this has to be as high as ppl would think, these kind of techs are usually quite efficient at what they do as they are highly specialized now on the other hand would PD be comfortable with using a 3rd party for somthing like this!?

JEEPERS I just need Sony to provide a network as strong as Microsofts' Live, and PD to put together a happiness-inspiring version of online play. To HECK with the CIA, they're all full of POO POO there anyhow.

lets just stay calm, I´m sure PD have been doing more than simply adding more cars and tracks...come on, they´re not stupid, they KNOW they can´t release GT5 with just some more cars and tracks and no new features such as weather, damage and more....right...

Has there been any innovation since GT1?

Online racing, drifting, and actually having real race tracks was probably the biggest one innovation of GT2.

GT-TV? The revealing of new cars in game as they're released to the public (GTHD)? I think that's pretty innovative to me...and that's only 2 of the newer features we've seen recently.

GTTV is completely unneccesary for me.

What has this to do with a racing game ?
I dont use it because it needs 5 minutes to finish loading and if its up they offer me old, short TV-ads for purchase. No thanks.

It would be nice if I could watch other peoples online-racing as a spectator and then it would also deserve its name.

I believe there was a picture of KY at an E3 event posing with an over head presentation slide showing .. a Spectator Mode.

I'm still new to this quoting someone and uploading pictures. Sorry if i screwed it up.
I'm sure someone can find and upload the picture.

Oh yeah count me in for just sitting back and watching as a spectator. This could lead to race stewards.👍

I don't completely agree that GTTV is useless, but yeah, to me it doesn't count as innovation. I'd like to see a difference in gameplay. In that aspect, the changes have been minimal.

What kind of innovations have happened in real life racing lately? ;)

Seriously, what is GT supposed to be as far as changing? We bring up neat additions like race modding our own cars and a livery editor, and some of you have a fit. It looks to me that some of you don't know what you want. I think this week I'll dig up my GT5 wishlist and see if it makes any of you nod or retch.

By the way, GT4 is still so innovative to me that I dropped Ferrari Challenge for a while to go back to racing it. And I'm loving every minute.

Am I the only one who think Amar should close this thread until there really are some news published?

I'm just getting disappointed everytime I see there are new posts leading nowhere...

No. Amar or someone else will undoubtedly begin a whole new thread when there's something substantial to report. Don't be a party pooper, go to threads that make you happy if you don't like the discussion. ;)

The reason I saw it as innovative is because PD is trying to allow users all over the world to experience races or programs that can't be seen on channels in certain areas of the world. Now don't get me wrong, it definitely needs some improvement, but I've loved watching a lot of the GT made content created by PD. Either way, at least they tried, and did a decent job. Always room for improvement though 👍

While real life racing HAS been changing, I do get your point....

HOWEVER.........the GT series hasn't been static because they've caught up to real life, as they ideally would have by now. You mentioned some of the things GT fans have been waiting for years and still haven't got them; I'm not sure if by "having a fit" you mean rejection or desire....

Anyways, the GT series is not perfect, and I'll keep complaining until it is. :)

Even then, we'll have to dig through threads to find information, and then have to sort out the bull from the good stuff.

I made the suggestion before (but had a foot promptly placed in my rear end) to have some banner on the homepage for the GT5 release date. That idea wasn't so hot anyhow but..

what would work would be a "GT5 FACTS" Thread sticky'd and locked in the GT5 forum, where some wonderful moderator would compile the important facts to date. No wading through BS threads, no looking back through the news blog entries.

Thats a good idea, someone should make the thread...

It would be useful to have a GT5 FAQ, but let's not forget one very important point - GT5 isn't out yet, and as such, no-one can say with total authority that something will definitely be in the game yet... that said, it would be nice to have a summary of what we do know, perhaps a "Pre-release FAQ"?

I have just updated the GT5 Forum Index and Reference Thread to include links to threads containing the most up-to-date information, but the fact remains that until the game is released, or until Polyphony Digital make more information available, then all of our hands are tied somewhat...

As for this thread, I think we should remember what the purpose of it is was... a bit of fun, and a gentle reminder that good times lie ahead. OK, perhaps it is also a bit of a tease, too... and perhaps it has run it's course for now, but I'll leave that up to the original poster. I trust that when any new info does come to light, it will appear on these forums so fast it will make Einstein question his own theories.

Well, Amar is very good about loading up the first post of his info threads with tons of details, descriptions, hands on impressions and images. I doubt you'd miss it, or have to wade through anything. I still have fond memories of his HUGE Prologue thread where he brought out reams of details on his hands on experience with Prologue prior to release.

And as T-Mars says, there is that thread, the news and info sticky as well. So looks like we have you covered. ;)

Oh, and SUPER NUMBBER, fair enough.
