One-on-one challenges

Any1 want a 1-on-1 challenge. Home garage only - you name the car and track and I'll take you on. This doesn't just have to be the Le Mans/GT Cars but normal sports cars too. One last thing - no traction aids. Sorry to be so strict but it needs to be fair (and fun). Any takers?




(Sorry Mr. P. for nicking the idea (Spot Races) but I need a way of posting my times at different times due to the time zones)
 
OK, I want to change this thread. If you want to take on me put your name down, otherwise check out the 'Spot Races' thread.

Anyhow, to try and encourage you lot I want to put down some times and let's see what you can do. I will post some times soon, in various cars. If you want to suggest anything, I'll give it a go... :D

ok dan , i'm gonna race you man , just let me know where , what car and modifications if any , oh yeah lets steer away from the f1's as i wanna test you on the LM's , give me a shout when your on line :cool:

Thats cool by me - I never really liked the inclusion of the F1 cars. Anyway I'll try and pick some cars we don't often use and track etc.

How about (Home Garage - I think we're both fine on steups) the Aston Martin Vanquish on Complex String, I'll post later2day.

About your LM's - how about the S2000 race car on Grand Valley.

That ok with you?

I'll post both times later...

(By the way no traction aids for either challenge - I know it can be slower but it gives us more of a challenge)

well i have to say the choice of the vanquish was just downright nasty man , that car is $hit with a capital "$" , i am gonna look for some settings for this car as i have only used it once and i am very poor with it , my best time after 5 hard laps was a 4.06.729 and i am not happy with the handling on it at all , its so slidey its unreal , anyway i'm gonna try the s2000 now at grand valley , i should be more prepared for this run ;) :cool:
 
Well don't worry about the Complx bit then - I'm not quite sure how, but your 10 secs ahead of me :eek: :eek: I had even taken down all the sector times to prove I wasn't cutting corners!!!!!! I though I had a near perfect lap. Youve knocked me right down there. My best was a 4:16.611. Sorry u didn't like the car. I love it with the settings Ive got (Ill PM them to u if u want)

With the S2000 I reckon I can go faster by a couple of tenths but to be honest I can't really be bothered... 1:33.966 so far. Pls be a bit kinder on me this time! I think thats quite quick. I used to be your pace - am I slowing up???? :(

Meanwhile, Im gonna go set some more laps with the Vanquish and then do some random laps in some random cars. If u want some more tests u just gotta ask... :)

I want to race the car just as it is bought from the car dealer, meaning no modifications to the car, except for tires. You can use super soft tires if you like, but no upgrades to the actual car. (Not even an oil change) If you already have the car, buy it again just like it is off the lot.
 
yo fury dan is usually on at about 10 am gmt which is in 5 hours time man , i suggest a nap and then he'll be available , probably ! or just put your times in and he'll post his back at you when he has had a go ;)
 
Ok then. Mr. P, would you care to face me in a little one on one spot race then? Because 5 hours from now where I live will be approximately 5:45 am, and lets just say I won't be up by then :)

If you would like a spot race, how about normal mode, seattle circuit with the Corvette C5R from the S-Class list of cars? Or we could do a session of, say, 5 or so laps and you we'll post our best time out of those laps.

sorry man as it goes where i am now in the uk its 5.45 am :eek: and i am quite drunk at the moment :P in no fit state to drive man , i will race you on some other occassion no probs mate :cool: i wish you luck against dan , he is a great driver man ;) :cool:
 
I feel so competitively helpless!! I just read the post on the rotaries at Midfield and I want to join you all in trying to get a lap time in the 54.XXXs with the 787B, but sadly, I don't have a 787B in my garage and haven't progressed far enough to unlock one in the Arcade S-Class. I'm dying for a race!

do the arcade mode in hard level only and fill that garage man , it's gonna need doing sooner or later , then you'll get the 787b and your on it man , the arcade mode should only take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours if you just do hard mode that is ! and believe me now , i use my s class arcade cars more in challenges than any other cars in the game ;) i find they are the best way to even everybody out with no advantages

You could always just sell all your current cars until you have enough money to buy the RUF. Then record your lap times and then load up your original game so you will still have all your cars. ;)

Oh and I think I'm only getting clothes for Christmas. :(

i'm sober mate , i'll stay this way for the next 2 hours and after that i wont be sober ;) if you are on in this time we shall race , if not next time were on at the same time ! ok :D :cool:
 
Well if you still wanna race mr. persistance, my best lap time for Seattle with the S-Class garage C5R is 1:24.098.

woah !! i did not enjoy that man :mad: that was a horrible race as that car is absolute $h!t , i had to try all combinations with tcs and asm and eventually settled for keeping both switched on , i dont know how long it took you to get that time but i will say it is a brilliant run and hope to see you in the challenges section more often , your really good congrats ;) anyway here's my sectors and overall best lap time up to now ! (but dont fancy going on it again thats for sure ! :D ) took me nearly 90 mins to get this time !!

checkpoint 1 = 27.387
2 = 1.05.838
total time = 1.23.748

asm on tcs on

Lol, yeah I didn't like that combination too much myself. I never remembered that car being so loose. I guess that was due to all the bumps and curves in the track. Very frustrating indeed.
 
I tried that event yesterday using your settings (the ones you first posted) and could only manage a 0:56.050. I was getting a litte frustrated from trying so hard and spinning out as a result. So I gave up before I could break into the .55 mark :( . Maybe I'll have another go at it again in the near future, though I would have to win the 787B again from the Like the Wind race.

Sorry to keep u waiting man, but with GTA3 Im a bit tied up and don't want to leave it...

I will do this challenge but you may have to wait into the coming week - feel free to use this time to improve your own time though....

k, i managed to break away from gta3 for half an hour, Im not sure how well this will stand up but 1:42.316 was my best time in the end. Theres at least another six tenths to come off that but to be honest i can't be bothered. Good luck with this....



PS I used a stock Boxster with SS tyres. Hope thats ok! :D

Sorry to keep you waiting so long, as I finally got around to progressing in the Arcade mode and unlocking the track. After 3 laps, my best time was 1:40.284. I love Cote D' Azur :) Are you sure you didn't use super slick tires instead of super soft?
