Oookay, who is up for another tuner challenge?

Screw that, I just go around in 888hp of HKS turbo'd Supra w/S3's on and try drifting around him in corners. :D

Tut tut tut. Have to use 888bhp to beat an innocent kid. I'm disappointed in you, Mafs. 👎

Teeheehee. :P

I'd correct myself if I was you Leo, not all of us descended from convicts. ;) A high percentage yes, but it's not like they ditched off only prisoners to Australia and said, "build a town and call it Sydney you convict scum, you're now free!!" We needed convicts to build our things up for us. Quite a few of those old buildings are still around The Rocks area near the harbour bridge, they built them well back then.
Also, I didn't realise Arthur Phillip or the soldiers or any of the people who left on their own free will to discover a new world was a convict. :P My family line runs from those people who left on their own free will so you can bite me. :sly:

and that smaller percentage consists of those radical political thinkers who weren't wanted anywhere.. :sly: I kid, I kid..

@mafs: Hehe, now you're on my turf, grease monkey!

only prisoners to Australia and said, "build a town and call it Sydney you convict scum, you're now free!!"
While not only prisoners were sent (maybe 7:1 or 8:1 ratio transported to free immigrant/military), they pretty much did just dump them here and say 'go for it'. And Sydney was named after Lord Sydney, who was Secretary for the Colonies at the time IIRC, so yes they did say "build a town and call it Sydney". After the French Revolution of 1789 and the subsequent war against France, they largely ignored Oz til the peace of 1815. Also note that they had been dumping convicts in the American Colonies for over a century before the Revolution of 1768(?)
We needed convicts to build our things up for us
By the turn of the century trade around Sydney was dominated by ex-convicts like Simeon Lord and Henry Kable. Not only did we build your city, we built your economy, despite rampant corruption by people like John Macarthur and the Officers of the NSW Corps, one of the most notoriously incompetent and corrupt regiments in the British armed forces.
My family line runs from those people who left on their own free will so you can bite me.
I'll leave you with a quote attributed to famous pickpocket George Barrington, allegedly at the opening of the first (convict-run) theatre around 1796. He explains that convicts were even more patriotic than the free settlers and military:
From distant climes, o'er widespread seas, we come,
Though not with much éclat or beat of drum;
True patriots we, for, be it understood,
We left our country for our country's good.

In short, convict blood>all other

hehe PF I love debates like this..........

Re: American issue, yes, they had been doing it for about two centuries, and then on top of it they weren't just shipping convicts, the English were kicking out anyone that didn't fit their bill back in those times (eg. Pilgrims) and also enslaving people from Africa to work there. Totally different scenario to us. :)

Re: Sydney being built solely by convicts. Mostly true, the rocks is 99% convict built. But if you skip a few kilometers towards Parramatta (also founded in 1788) then you'll find that all the big chunks of land were handed over to the "nobles", where over the following couple of decades (because we were essentially ignored by England apart from a few more fleets) they built up the wool industry (amongst others) which still continues today. Macarthur was the most noted but not the only one. Then the expansion into the Hawkesbury by the 1800's was done mostly by normal citizens hearing stories of the new world by some of the returnees and wanting to join in.

As to the corruption, well, we both know that's true for some and that continues to today. ;) You would think we would get it right after 221yrs. But I know from my family's line, we were into wheat production and some wool trade too.

I just consider us all equal. No convict > noble crap. ;)

Should we make a new thread about this issue??

Anyway, back to the cars.........*impatiently waits for more RWD judges* :P

@mafs: Taking this to PM. Sadly, I don't think there is a 'Colonial Australian History' sub-forum at gtp.

@Camry: Hoping to post half the cars by midnight (AEDT)

EDIT: Can someone suggest a reasonable format for posting? I screwed up the last one. Maybe Excel>screencap>mspaint>crop>save as .jpg and paste onto thread? Seems like a bit of a toss-around to me, but I don't know enough to know a better solution

Aussies? politically correct? sounds ridiculous when one remembers that their ancestors were criminals and political persona non grata's.. :D

Not many people you speak to in Australia are descendant of the settlers. I'm of German descent for one. To my knowledge Australia is one of the most multi-cultural countries in the world.

Excel screencap makes the most sense, then notes. 👍

Well I'm 3rd fleet on my fathers side (convict from Cornwall, so they hate the English too! 'cause their Celts, not Anglo), with my great-grandfather's the mayor's of Yass, Taree and one other, I think Albury, all major towns in the 1800s. My mothers side is Scottish, so I'm at least 4/5 generations here, though I need find out more on this side. My great-grandfathers an grandfathers on both sides fought in WWI & WWII, SOOO I'm so bloody Aussie it ain't funny!!

AND when are we going to see the judging on RWD. This posting one at a time is not 🤬 funny!!!!:banghead: even if their well done....

I believe he is only posting like that because he can only fit in one car to judge at at time or something like that anyway. Also the fact of the matter is that so many tuners entered RWD that their aren't a lot of people to judge it.

.

Actually, there's a higher chance most people in my area are German of descent because it was a German settled area. My Grandfather was in the army for WWII but never actually saw any action (thank goodness).

I can't wait to see what people think of my Corvette.:dopey: They'll probably hate it.:P

I missed this before so I'll address this first.

He's not innocent I can tell you that!! :D:lol: Kept driving right into my drift line as I went to overtake him.

888hp Supra's don't work, but they are fun.

They do work if you can handle stopping the boost turning your tyres to BBQ (I've won LTW with it on S2's for 200pts.) and they most definitely are fun for just turning the tyres to BBQ if you feel like it. :mischievous:

I've played around with 2 maxx power Supra's, set a 1:03 on Tsukuba with it, shortshifting while the tyre's were spinning. Such a pain trying to set one up with an FC gearbox, all I manage to get is lots of nothing followed by a huge turbo.

I tried to make one work for me, it was like hitting multiple moving targets. Mine had horrid understeer and then the turbo kicked in and it ook my best efforts no to spin it.

Great fun on Fuji though.

Awesome, a slice of RWD done. Damn, my car ain't in it. Oh wells I'm happy to see progress.

P.S Good to see you have the Excel spreedsheet thing sorted PF

*grabs the score sheet and rubs it in Paulie's face*

Supra better than Corvette. :P

THESE MAY NOT BE FINAL SCORES because I still need a comparison to the other eight cars. Any differences will only be minor.

I took that too meaning that the scores aren't final. But he does go onto say that the differences will only be minor but you never know. Tho Im rooting for the Supra myself.

Yeah, I did a blue one with a stripe on it, can't see any other 'vettes on the list. Either way, both were superior cars but Supra significantly better.

This is because I need to calibrate the next eight with the first five and vice versa. I could end up marking the last few on the list in the 80s, then will have to compare with the earlier scores to make sure that, in the context of all 13 cars, the score is accurate. We tested/scored then tested and changed scores three times again for each car when doing FWD. Each time we made adjustments to make sure the cars were scored properly in relation to all other cars. We spent around 18hrs (straight) just marking FWD.

Why oh why do I have this feeling that my Mr Black will bring home another handsome pile of points? :sly: Third gear is troublesome? hm.. more topspeed.. hrmph.. oh well, it does redline on top gear @ GVS if I recall right, which means that if you do a race, overtaking will be tricky since limiter is near. but taller third and fifth would hurt acceleration, which isn't the strong point of the NA model at first place.. *grumbles and retreats to his PS2* I'll wait for the final judging before tweaking the actual car in the garage.

I did three more then the game started changing gears for me at random intervals, so I had to do the last one in AT. Have been getting the Red Wheel of Death a fair bit lately, so will need to get another disk I think.

Good to see my 350Z didn't kill anyone. Although Parnelli got the power figures wrong. It says 350bhp, with a port polish and engine balancing. Whether that changes your opinion, doesn't matter. But understand the gearing is for Midfield at the fastest. It's got the pivoting for smaller tracks too! Thanks for your opinion anyways 👍

Supra better than Corvette. :P

BAH! The only reason your car won was because it didn't have enough power to put fear in the judge's heart! I bet mine still has a faster lap time, much faster.:P
