Oookay, who is up for another tuner challenge?

Well I just lit the fire under the 4WD class, let's see if anyone has what it takes to put it out

That thing looks bloody evil, Kurei, I'm really looking forward to trying it out. I find the Evos hard to tune, so have respect for anyone that does it properly. At first glance brakes of 8/10 seems a tad excessive, I'm curious to see how that goes. Also, the ride height of 86/110 suggests it wants a pretty good driver to keep it stable.

While they may seem excessive, they were necessary to contain it's potential outside of acceleration (although the ride height was partially giving the car it's stance, but it has it's performance attributes as well), But don't worry, just drive it and you'll find it's more than well-balanced for every course in the game

The car can be set up a little easier for fresh drivers, but I'm treating this event as a no holds barred showdown, so I'm coming out fighting in the 4WD class

However I use a Driving Force Pro, so there may be some difference's between it and a controller

(my possible entry in the FF class would be more of a fun thing rather than competitive)

When do we want to start judging. I want to know how much time I've got left. Me and the RX-8 are having a bit of a fallout at the moment.

Couple of weeks time, RJ didnt specify an actual deadline.

Whilst I am happy with my FWD, it does look very weak next to my Supra and my 4WD, so I am thinking of a new FWD, just to see if I can pull off something a bit faster.

Speaking of 4WD, I've brought a wagon full of fire extinguishers. No, it doesn't have a Subaru badge. ;)

Got a question about tire setup's quick, are 'staggered' setups allowed ?

As in S3's in the front, S2's in the back or does it have to be all S3 tires ?

I wouldn't have too much issue with someone running staggered tires so long as they didn't use anything better than S3s obviously...

Then again I don't see the need as most cars can be made to oversteer without tire stagger, and tire stagger doesn't get rid of understeer, it just takes the rear with it.

No muscle cars in sight, you're all lucky I don't play any more.:P

I am playing GT4 right now. :D

(on my PS3, looks much nicer with a HDTV and smoothing turned on)

I only have a 40Gb, and even if I wanted to play (I wouldn't have time for it, or patience) my brother has stolen the PS2 now. Given his level of intelligence (he's 23 btw) it's probably in a million pieces.

^Teehee.
I just cobbled together a reasonable RWD car... so hopefully it's enough for a good spot. It lives up to its name too :D

Getting ready to break out with the wheel monster. How's everybody coming along with there tunes? We need more FF cars in the mix too.

who's going to be the judge(s)?? RJ, and who else??

*slaps myself* i'm finally coming back to my senses.., :)

I have a FF entrant in the works, well.. two really, and I can't decided which to stick with

One's an experimental, un-official Type R created from an old inspiration, but it's having wheel spin issues...

And the other is an older model of sorts, much faster and better handling, but the sound kills it (give-away:dopey:)

But I'm considering bringing in the latter to rattle the cage of a similar car

Choices....

so.....cars come first before test track?? this will be a tough one if the submission of entries will be closed before the announcement of the race tracks..,

^^ nice, even harder.., so your car has to be as versatile as possible..,

My 4WD entry is posted and ready for high speed runs to Ikea.

Hey Roj, where you say:

Autoset to 12. Then set ratios and final.

Do you really mean Default>Auto 12>final>individual gears?

I had this problem with Mad FinnTuners a while ago, and have noticed that even the best tuners don't specify exactly how to do the tranny (hehe).

I think it's a problem for newbies: I had to go back and re-setup about a dozen cars, and I'd already reviewd a couple of them complaining about the gears.

I reckon tuners should use a format like:

Default>Auto 12>final>individual gears

or the same thing in point form. It would make it a lot easier for some of us semi-literate bogans who've never held a license.

Set the auto, do each ratio (1st to 6th), then the final. Pretty much follow the order stated on the settings sheet. Hope that helps. 👍

I know sometimes its hard to follow gearing settings, especially settings using the tranny trick. :ouch:

I always set the auto, then the ratios, then the final so thats how I write them down. :)

Thanks a lot for that clarification Roj. Tuners seem to have differing ideas about the effects of the Auto/final/individual settings, and it does make quite a difference. Also, thanks for setting it out in an easily understandble way.

I look forward to testing the car. I can't remember even looking at that model, let alone driving it, so am very keen.

I would humbly like to withdraw my RWD entry. 80(
My assumption that the setting would work well with 'any' NSX was way off! It was just what I was dialing in at the time of reading about this event and I jumped the gun big time.
Since then, having fought off the ISP-Deity of mine into allowing me to remain connected, and wanting to have requested this withdrawal of mine - it came sort of late.

I have, since playing GT4, never really cared much for MR cars, that is until lately, when I entered this competition - because I could never really get them to handle the way I like. (Especially the Proto Spirra!)

I would be greatly appreciative if you all would allow me to substitute my initial entry for RWD.

What say you all?

D

the Proto Motors Spirra is one of the "wildest" cars in GT4, without doubt.., very hard to control if you're a newbie..,
