If thier all taken mate add oni on psn with a msg if hes full Thiers always one or two guys that have something come up or have connection issues or watched to much porn thier over thier gig limit...and you could be a fill in as not all the time thiers a wildcard driver avaiable

Sorry mate the drivers list is currently filled up. You are welcome to join as a wildcard. Wildcard drivers will be stand ins for drivers that cannot make a race due to personal commitments. Any points you earn as a wildcard are for the team you are appointed to on the day.

A reminder for anyone living in non daylight savings states , the next race will start an hour earlier for you guys. Would be very disappointing to show up late !

Probably because I'm from QLD and in my line of work changing your times plays havoc with co-ordination.

My PS3 died hard today:nervous:... but it seems as if I have resuscitated it, doing a HDD backup right now.

I can now confirm my PS3 has YLOD!👎👎👎

That's my 4th PS3 down the drain, 3 refurbs by Sony on my Launch 60gb, and this was my replacement 80gb :ouch:

So tomorrow I will pull it apart (again) try to cook my motherboard in the oven, or go buy myself a heat gun and attempt to fix it again.:scared:

So unless I'm successful I won't be participating in the race tomorrow and probably the rest of the season :dunce: a permanent retirement from me.
I'm sorry guys I was really looking forward to this.

Funny thing was it was working an hour ago and I restarted GT5 from scratch and it was fine... not anymore :(
 
Wow, 4 PS3's is alot :(

I got mine from Singapore close to the time that they launched it, and luckily I haven't had any problems.
Maybe see if you can get a slim PS3 (if Sony can replace it), as those are much cooler (temperature wise).

I've heard stories of the older models overheating so much they melt the solder attaching the wires onto the motherboard!
 
Yeah I feel your pain Bronco, I dealt with a YLOD PS3 for something like 3 & 1/2 months...I use to use the Hair Dryer to get it 'fired up'.:D
It all comes down to temperature in the Consoel itself...if the unit gets to hot its stuffs the fine circuitry...keeping your PS3 cool is HUGELY important. The old fat jigga's where notoriously hot. After the release of the very original backward compatible PS3 that they sold at a loss, they smashed out the cheap 40Gb's, they saved bucks on the heat sink and put a huge fan on it...fail!:rolleyes:

That sucks Bronco. Sounds like your PS3 is overheating, if you have gone through 4 already then its time to look at where you keep it. PS3's shouldnt be overheating unless you leave them on all night and even then my launch model phat PS3 (before stolen) never skipped a beat. I kept it out of direct sunlight and in a dark cool spot.

Though im sure you do keep it cooled. Your other option is buying one of those third party cooling systems that you attach to the PS3. Or just buy a new PS3 slim. They are cheaper now due to the price cut.

I will emulate what Oni has said though and say it is most likely where it is kept rather than the PS3 if you have chewed through 4... No offence... :nervous:

Added to the fact it is probably scorching hot in Darwin more often than not... 💡

I have a Fat 40Gb and had it running 24/7 (except power outages) doing the B-Spec competition (Sig. Ed.) and then Remote Racing for the best part of 9 months and again as Oni said, it never missed a beat... I would back up daily due to my paranoia that I would get YLOD doing that to my PS3 but it never happened... Yet! :sly:

On another note Oni, I am looking likely to miss tonight's race as I have a friend who has just arrived on holidays keen to catch up and I can't guarantee what time he will drop in until, I would like to make tonight's race as I have missed both the Qualifier and Round 1 already but I don't want to leave it until 8:15pm and tell you then I can't make it... Sorry mate.

So it looks like I'm going shopping today :( These things are so damn expensive.

Just got back from boating to NZ... and his name says it all.. i couldnt find lost... I looked everywhere... the pubs...the strip clubs... couldnt even spot him in the field with the sheep! I though he would be heardin' those sheep for sure! So i decided to head back so I could make the race tonight.

Yeah with mine, as it can get warm here - Gold Coast. I have the thing in the cabinet under the TV. But that's only where I store it, when I use it, I drag it out onto the ground so it's totally in the open.

By the end of a normal session the floor behind it (where the fan's been blowing) is quite warm.

Obviously Darwin is in a whole other place re: warm and hot. So you've got an uphill battle there.

I figure a new unit is the option as others above had said. Their cooling works better.

New 120gb slim PS3 so I'm on for tonight YEW!

My wallet took a $340 hit though.... got the 3 year extended warranty too.
