Just thought I'd mention also, I had a couple of incidents where I left the track in an advantageous way. Not trying to cheat obviously, but thought I'd throw it out there that if people had an issue i'd be happy to take a points penalty or something...not that I scored any but yeah.

Man I can't wait until a track that isn't horrible.

👍 Woohoo GTP_Holland brings home the trophy!

Well done mate... maybe next time I'll hold up this end of our team bargain! :guilty:

I reckon I could have come home anywhere between 7th - 9th*

*Pure speculation.

Great race all, well done. I was specially surprised at turn 1 of lap 1, that was super clean folks, good stuff!!!
This series is shaping up to be a good one. Well done one-eye!!

Awesome racing from everyone. Was super clean. Good job boys.

Congrats again on the win Holland. Looking forward to race 2.

Congrats Dan and well done also to Mike, Stiggy and Bonson for the epic battles at the start. Sorry for the nudge Stiggy. I just outbraked myself slighty and you did awesome to give me room on that one.

In the end I should have pitted the same lap as Dan and I might have kept with him for the race, but in clean air he was just too quick, I could never recover that 5 second gap he got from the earlier stop. The two stopper was easily the best option with such a small penalty for pitting.

I was surprised how well I could drive, considering we only had 30mins practice, couldn't have driven much better this race, just too quick Dan.

Really clean and fun battles with so many quick guys!! Looking forward to the rest of the season.

My quali was hopeless, dampened by bad driving and having to drop some excess weight In the middle of the session (which I put back on in MnMs)

Despite not getting damage all race and not getting held up in the pits I didn't have a good race, on the softs I was flying 4s a lap quicker then the mediums. But on those mediums I had my rear handed to me. At the start of the race I could keep it with the front but once the race settled down I just had to dig away.

Tip of the hat to will and jasr, I couldn't match you guys on the mediums, well driven.

Rusty and oni thanks for not holding me up on the softs, rusty I loved the flicking lights when we wanted to pass, we're a great team and you had some bad luck at turn 1 lap 2 where oni was braking on his 50c coin

Hoping to not see Madrid pulled from oni's tissue box next week, but the golf is a lovely car.

I was thinking last night of what may be a decent idea.

I'm not sure if many people will be for this or not, but It happened last night and I figured I'd throw it out there.

I was racing super hard with Fryz (Btw that was epic fun mate :D) but in the process absolutely screwing my tyres. Stig was then behind me and I was clearly slower. He gave me a couple of toots with his horn (whether that was deliberate or not I'm not sure) at which point I figured I'd let him and Mike through, as the racing was clean I didn't want to ruin it by losing the front and understeering into someone.

I'm not sure how everyone else feels, but if I'm visibily slower than someone else for whatever reason or whatever, I'm happy to race more conservatively, obviously not give you the position, but not make you work as hard for it, because the racing is so clean.

I don't know if that makes sense or not, just seemed like a good idea I could throw out there to keep the series nice and friendly, which is seems will be the case.

Epic fun indeed mate

Well at some point tyre conservation does come into it and it certainly makes sense to "follow a faster driver" to save tyres or to try to catch those ahead, rather than slow you both down in a battle, thus loosing touch with the pack ahead or risking damage.

I'm happy to race more conservatively, obviously not give you the position, but not make you work as hard for it, because the racing is so clean.

I had a similar situation in the race lasy night Bono, I came up behind Oni, who seemed to be on much older mediums (and i was on my set of softs), we went side by side into a corner, at which time i also gave him a 'beep' of the horn - which wasnt to say 'move over' but more like 'im here next to you, plz dont turn into me!' so he let me through..
I caught up to wagon wheel also, and he gave me room (after i followed him in close company for a lap or so)..
I remember letting a few people through during the race, as i was on a 1 stopper and most others were on a 2 stopper, so there was no point holding anyone up.
Realistically, if some one can catch me at a second a lap, there is no point me trying to fight them for position:idea: and i believe thats the sort of mentality we saw last night.
I'd rather just move over, try and stay with em if possible instead of block and kill my tyres over 1 position!

I forgot to include my point, which was that we should use the horn of kind of a warning/notification to the other driver.

Not if you're racing hard like me and Fryz were, but if you're behind someone and you know you're faster, give him a quick toot, to say "Hey, make me work for it, but don't throw away to much because I'm going to get past you".

It's just a little system we could use to keep the racing clean.

I mean, nothing official, but if you're behind me, and you're quicker, feel free to give me a beep, and I'll put in a little extra effort to not make contact with you.

I don't know out everyone else but when I hear a horn a look all around for trouble or a crash or to see if I have cut someone off which causes me to get off the gas and slow down, if I am coming up faster behind someone ( which isn't very often) I tend to just flash my lights because everyone looks back when someone is on your tail an the lights don't distact as much as a blasting horn, just a few flicks of your lights saying "I'm here, just take that into co sideration, and if you run wide or whatever careful wen rejoinig as I will prob take full advantage"

If that all makes sense.. That's my opinion

Good idea with the blue flag type idea Bonson.

As I was on a 1 stop strategy, there were a couple of times where I just had to let someone past as they were clearly on much fresher tyres.
One time I actually had to get off the track to let Holland past, as I was on a bad line.
We might not even need the horn, just keep an eye out for people flying up behind you.

As for the block, no problem Bonson. It all ended up very clean and it didn't affect my finishing position or anything, good racing from all :)

I just wish I hadn't gone for the one stop strategy, definitely not the best idea in this race as it turns out.

I just thought of a really lame team name for Dinosaw and I:
Team DinoMike, bombing into corners since 2011 :sly:

Hey guys sounds like you had a good race.

Question: What track was it??

I hasn't been mentioned and the Google spreadsheet doesn't name it.

It was Nurburgring GP/F in the SLS 👍

Thanks for that 👍

I was trying to read into posts if there was mention of something that'd give me a clue.

Someone said about the rear was getting loose on cold mediums. That was the best hint I had.

Oh and . . . Damn, Nurburgring GP/F in the SLS was one race I was looking forwards to racing :(

Was an epic race. I got distract by a friend messaging my phone while i was coming up to turn 1 and over cooked it. I tried get off the racing line and to the edge of the track which i manage to but Rota ran wide and slammed head onto me giving us both terminal damage (engine wheels etc). After my pit i just went into full conservation mode and was 1 minute behind the leaders. So i just kept it smooth while gaining 1 sec or so on the leaders per lap. Finally pitted on half worn tyres at lap 20 and began my charge with 10 laps to go.

I was pushing like crazy on the last 10 laps as my tyres were fresh, i eventually caught up to Rusty who was on worn tyres but held me up for 1 and a half laps thinking my tyres were just as bad which they weren't (no dramas there mate) which sort of ruined my charge to catch taital and get 7th place. Was fun for me trying to regain as much as possible. Started 8th, finished 8th. Not great but not bad considering the bad luck Rota and i had.

I prefer a flash of the headlights if you are behind some one as it is less distracting and a beep of the horn if you are next to them on the inside of the corner. Just so they dont turn in on you. While on a controller its easy do this. On a wheel is alot harder. I dont have a horn button mapped nor do i have a rear view button mapped. I only have look left and right. I might remove my wiper button and replace it with a horn.

The horn theory won't always work due to sound, it's not as if it's a boat horn, if I'm down shifting or in the limiter I won't hear the horn, plus I honk any sod I come across whether your first last or roota.

As I posted, I flash my lights at rusty to warn him I was going to overtake and it worked great, he appeared to flash me back but I think it was abusive haha

Cheers guys on a very memorable opening race of the championship!

You drove a great race, had it in the bag after your first pit stop, but I must say, you did make a move up the inside of bonson at Ford Curve on lap 2 (I think?) where you muscled him out of the way. I don't know if you muscled him out of the way, if there was lag and you couldn't see his car, or if he broke early or you broke to late and couldn't help it, but in future, I recommend you give back the place if you make a move up the inside and push someone. I know I went a little deep on one lap and gave you a little tap at turn 1, and I got off the throttle and let you go past.

Anyway, good win, and good clean racing boys. I need to get off F1 2011, it's hurting my pace 👎

Grats on fastest lap WagonWheels.. with a 2:07.179.
Great lap 👍 softs or meds?
Sorry for my confusion, but who is wagonwheels lol? Don't see his username in the drivers list. :embarrassed:ops:

That was me mate, on softs, on the meds I would only get a 2.10 at best haha.

As for the name, some people think I eat a few wagon wheels during races..

A FEW!? hahaha come on mate...

on another note, haha a few of the teams have sort of created names.

I think we all need to create a name for out teams... Im running out of ideas for personalisation with these rec car races haha before we could paint our cars and rims what ever we wanted! and some of us found really annoying horns for grid time (:D)

But yeh...lame, but we need names for each team

Small fryz, we shall make a combined decision on this but here are my thoughts...

Rooted Fryz / Small root.. / Master Fryz? haha damn this is getting bad...

I read, a formal fart mass, is something wrong with me lol

There must be something wrong with me too, cause that's exactly what I read

And for the top one I read A fartly Mass Storm. I didn't want to mention that though, cause it's a little weird
