That's how I do it mate, there were some settings that needed ticking or something. I'll look into it now for you.

Cheers pal, I've been looking for solutions all arvo but It's just endless pages of the same crap.

If you could tell me how you set it up, i.e. check your ipconfig/all and tell me what's the same as your comp and what's different that could help.

How I do it is I i connect wirelessly to the net through my PC, I share that connection (don't bridge) and then setup a static IP address for my LAN. That's how i DID it, then Sony decided that firmware needed an update and presto, ****s everything. I'll try to connect wirelessly tonight but i'll probably drop out like i did last time.

I originally did it for my Xbox because my ethernet cable is way to short, and all I had to do was go into the settings for both the PS3 and the wireless settings, and make sure that every box is ticked.

There are so many videos on youtube of how to do it, but every time I tried it didn't work. There was 1 video with about 10,000 views and it was the last one I was going to try before I'd give up, and it turns out it worked. I just can't remember what this video was called it was so long ago.

Im trying to join your room now,

I had it working, but then they changed to a different firmware and it just didn't work. And now nothing works. And Wireless is way to unstable because I'm so far away from the router.

I'm on my way....

It's bllody installing something, porbably because I didn't do the full install this afternoon. Hopefully I make it out of the pits before qualy is over :(

We went on a little quest of our own today , Rusty was first to find the fabled "bear licking a mushroom"* !! Well done goldbrick wheelbarrow !

*Tree or mushy , still open to debate

Room is up and race will start shortly. Qualifying is almost over.

Race 2 - Madrid with Golf GTi

Where are you Rusty??

To anyone who doesn't understand the rules regarding lapping cars (I'm talking to you Dan).

The car being lapped has every right to hold their line and race as if it's for position, whether they do that is up too them. Some people will let them go through, others will make you work for it, after all, if you've managed to catch 2 minutes over the race, then surely you can overtake the driver easily. From now on don't complain if you're being held up, because it's your problem.

Nice drive D_Holland:tup:

I kept punting myself into the wall at the fountain in the first couple of laps:ouch:, pitted for damage and drove those mediums all the way home:)

They were getting pretty worn though and I thought mrtaital might get me in the end, but the mediums held up for 35 or so laps:sly:

Tried to get out of the way of you faster guys as much as I could, followed Onii for a few laps till his tyres were shot and I got past on better rubber.

I'm still not 100% on the start procedure so be gentle with me:idea:

Really? If that's how this series runs then fair enough.
I would of thought that we would of run as per most race regs IAW blue flag rules:indiff:.

But I'll stand corrected on this series.
I let you all past anyway:sly:

EDIT oops double post:guilty:

others will make you work for it, after all, if you've managed to catch 2 minutes over the race, then surely you can overtake the driver easily.

Though your forgetting that some drivers switch to Softs half race, so its not so straight forward.

Personally I will race to the rules but they are borderline harsh, that being said if a lapped driver on softs is easily faster then I will let them go, or simply wont be able to catch them in the first place. Just wouldnt want to risk contact with damage at heavy, especially if im racing Holland, Stiggy, Mike, Xercs and Bonson for the win.

As for the race.

Great drive Dan!, Awesome racing Stiggy!!! that was great fun mate and big shout out to Rota for bringing home valuable points!!

People should be able to hold their line, so as not to make sudden movements and cause an accident.
But if you're on a stretch of road, like the main straight at Madrid, and you can move over in advance to let someone past,
as Rota did in the race for me, that works too.
Just depends on the situation.

Man that crash with rusty on the first lap got messy.
Sorry to anyone who got caught up behind us,
I had damage and couldn't accelerate much faster than I did, so I tried to get off the racing line to let everyone past.

Ended up having a reasonably epic comeback from well and truly last to 4th, as the track claimed more victims, was fun :)

Being a street circuit all you can do is hold your line until a straight like I did for stig, if u risk a pass on a tight circuit your doing so at your own risk, it's not getting passed as quick as possible as it's picking the right time to get passed.

As for my race I don't know why I kept going I got caught in rusty and mikes coming together that got me horrible damage only to pit again the next lap by getting distracted by traffic in the other direction. But it happens and we deal with it.

Got a few pics from the race before I accidentally closed the replay then just concentrated on the post race activities which I got some corker snaps!!

Drive of the race goes to mike, brilliantly driven!

So I think at least 3 or 4 of you came up behind me faster before Holland did, For those 3 or 4 drivers, I kept to my line and where I thought it was ideal and appropriate, I pulled to the side to let you through, or purposely ran a little wide at some corners (ex. the long left hand round about) to allow you room to dart on the inside.

But when I held my line when you were coming up behind me holland you decided to just put your foot the the floor and reshape my back bumper. I hope you didnt expect me to see you and just pull to the side as this is not F1 buddy. I followed what oni decided on the rules for faster drivers over taking slower ones and kept to that rule to not create an accident. Its not like I held you up for 4 or 5 laps. It was maybe half of lap and i was going to pull to the side on the straight to let you go. But I didnt after you gave me your 12th angry bump. Then decided to pull up next to me on the straight and give me you final angry bump. Even though I wasn't racing you for position, doesn't mean I wasn't racing at all, if i had to slow down and let people like you past every lap, I would me last every race.

I think you need to go back and read the rules of this series because you are ignoring them and following F1 rules or something... Just like you mentioned in race one qual. You thought you lap was valid according to F1 rules...but we arn't following them, then when you came up to me you thought it was blue flag rules.

now I stuck to the same rules for all the drivers that came up faster behind me and they were patient and I happily let them through when the time was right but next time you decide to just punt me from behind because youre in the lead, I will let you pass... but don't expect me to brake the following corner when im behind you.

On another note I had a great race even though I wasnt battling anyone as I was stuck in the middle of 2 packs, but taital and bronco were hot on my tail and positions kept changing due to pit strats, was fun, im liking the tyre regs. :D

And well done Spin, Although you not the fastest out there, you must be the most consistant, the few laps I was in front of you I kept seeing you get quicker and quicker and steadily decreased that gap every lap, as you can see at madrid from the track side by side haha

And well done to Mike too, just shows you what you can achieve if you don't rage quit haha

(P.S) sorry for the long arse reply.

[SNIP} next time you decide to just punt me from behind because youre in the lead, I will let you pass... but don't expect me to brake the following corner when im behind you.{SNIP]
LOL! Rota your a champ.:D
I wouldn't be to upset Dan, after all you did win the race. Congrats by the way.;)

.

Yeah the pit strategy was fun, trying to decide if staying out with the laptimes I was getting was more beneficial than coming in for new rubber.👍

I new that I was in front of you Rota for a bit, (but because I have a new PS3 I hadnt reset my button config for a rear look button) and didn't know it was you overtaking me when you did, I actually thought it was another driver lapping me. Damn that you cant see name tags in the mirror:ouch:

If I had known it was you I may have held you off for a little longer, but by the end you had much newer rubber and would have passed me somewhere anyway.:sly:

Dan I'd take it as a learning point, I didnt know that was this series rule either... I must have missed that part of the rules:scared:. Anyway we know now.

Well done on leading the championship BTW.

Now photo's of the post race activities!

EigerNordwandShortTrack_1.jpg

So that's enough of my photo's for today, im heading upto Bathurst tomorrow so i will only have limited time to check the forum from my phone between races.

Looking forward to seeing you all tonight or next Monday for the race, now please don't hold the race up next week as i have to be on a 9am plane to South Korea

Taital, you just made my lecturer stop a class of about 120 people to tell me to shut up because I was laughing too loud at your shots.

Those pics of people are so funny

Here's my Ultra High Quality Photomode shot of Bear & tree . . .

Say what you want about GT5 but the graphics are really good.

Agree, photos are gold taital, haha. My first day back a work after two weeks off and I laughed so loud in the office - i think people think im high...

How to connect your PS3 using 3G Wireless via your PC

Go to Start >Settings->Network connections. You should see network connections such as Local Area Connection (LAN), Wireless Network Connection (WiFi) and your Wireless 3G connection.

Take your laptop to the PS3 and connect the Ethernet cable between laptop and PS3. In Start->Settings->Network connections (using classic start menu) - You should see LAN with a red X on it and the wireless network connection. Make sure you can still access the internet.

Right click on the Local Area Connection and go to properties and then the Sharing Tab. The first check box should be unchecked where it says 'Allow other networks...to connect through this'. Under home network connection, make sure it's set to 'Select a private network connection'. The other checkbox is checked but cannot be accessed, where it says, ''Allow other networks users to control or disable.... Press okay and you should be back to the network window.

This time Right click on the Wireless Network Connection and go to properties. Go to the sharing tab. This window should be similar to the LAN one. Have both checkboxes checked. Under Home Network Connection, choose Local Area Connection. Press okay. You should be back to the network window.

On your Playstation go to settings >Network Settings >Wired Connection> Automatic >. Do the internet connection test. It should find the IP address and connect. On the network window on your laptop, the LAN icon should say Enabled and then Unidentified network. Your PS3 should be connected now.

If this doesn't work - I can provide the manual configuration settings both for the 3G device (based on Telstra devices) and the PS - but I wont bore you all with that unless it's really needed. :)

(P.S) sorry for the long arse reply.

If I were you, I wouldn't have taken that roota. A side bump while someone is passing me will earnt them a place in the wall, whether it ruins my race or not.

As taital said earlier, he stayed in front of me for the first few corners on that lap (I had no problem with that at all), and then waited until I had a run on him down the straight, and pulled to the side. I wouldn't have minded if he made me do it the hard way either. I may have been faster, but at the end of the day, who was racing last night? There were 12 of us, not just 1 of us Holland. They're racing too, and you need to give them as much respect as if you're racing for position (which funnily enough, isn't much with you).

On a side note. I totally agree with what Bonson did on lap 5. If I wasn't racing for a top 3 position in the championship, I would have done the same thing. When someone who was matching lead pace - and I know was actually faster than Dan - leaves the race, you know it's a crap race. I love to do 3-5 lap races with the slow cars, but an hour long? Are you serious Oni? It's a joke mate, it really is. If skill in racing was being able to drive cars incapable of 200 kph, then the top level of racing would be go-karts, not F1. I can deal with the other cars, but that golf 👎

Haha Taital!!! The photo's are great and the narration is world class.:D:tup:
Take it easy mate...and don't intoxicate yourself to much at Bathurst mate...you are going to take photo's right?:dopey:
R*

Those photos are f-ing classic Taital!
I have noticed anti-gravity man before, but never those knobs on the roof (who wears a suit vest and dress pants while watching motorsport on a roof?), or the bear mushroom tree for that matter lol

Have you guys seen Loch Ness on Trial Mountain? He used to be there in the lake in the old games.

And no, I have no idea where I was going in that shot. Scenic route? :)

@Rota, yeah mate I wasnt completely aware of the backmarker rule, and I assumed that it was same as RL, considering that I passed 1 or 2 backmarkers (they got out of way immediately) before I reached you, yes I am aware I hit you, I assumed you would get out of the way as it was a fairly good spot to do so, all yoiu needed to do was take a slightly wider line, and I unwisely expected or predicted that you would do it at the last minute so thats why I hit you at full throttle, so a complete misunderstanding.

And the incident that actually led to the damage to my car, on the main straight, was my fault aswell as I was weaving towards you in frustration cos I thought you were basically targetting me deliberately, unaware of the rule.

Obviously won't happen again and I appologise for having a go at you post race, cheers.

@Riccasdio I agree the last 15 laps dragged out like a blade, but best to be consistent with the hour long format, we know the first race was a success, probably thats the last slow peice of **** FF car we'll be using for the rest of the champ anyway, and the track is not the best aswell.
