Fastest Lap: Jazza 1:29.249.

Nice lap mate!

Thanks man, almost perfect lap on 36, never to be repeated (by me) although Oni you where only a just a whisker behind me in the best lap stakes, and way more consistant.

Great racing last night lads - shame Mike couldn't make it in, PSN continues to create pain.

Had some great battles with Rota and Taital at the start, Ash & Pawel in the middle and great chase to try and get Will at the end but he kept his cool and defended like a pro on minimal rubber. 👍 :)

PS: Anyone heard from team MIA?

Hope you boys had a good race!

unfortunately i copped a rear-end hit going into t5 which heavily damaged my rr. I continued on, trying to keep it together down the back straight. I made it to the hairpin when someone side swiped me and i got shunted into the barrier :grumpy: Limped back to the pits and decided to stick with it, until about 20ish laps in, was drafting wilco down the back straight and bang, lag spike demolished my car :ouch:

i flicked to wilco after i left the track. The game was telling me his car was heavily damaged too, but he seemed to be getting around okay, so i assume due to the lag spike it was mis-reporting damage on his car. i stayed long enough to see oni and wilco have a collision :-(

After that last hit, it would have taken me a minute just to limp back to the pits, and i was never going to come anywhere but last, and by a long way.. so i would rather spend time with my kids than drive by myself for another 20+ laps... i can do that offline. I joined this comp for the fun/close racing with some good blokes .👍.. hope next week is cleaner and less laggy :-)

I watched the replay of turn 5 lap 1. I was at your right rear but metres away from your car which shows a noticeable jolt from the spike.

Unfortunately I got pushed into the wall by you* before the next tunnel and took light damage to the front. I chose not to pit and to deal with an ill handling car until lap 15 . All those slower laps cost me any kind of fun last night , I couldnt catch anyone else and spent a lonely 40 odd laps solo. (I have nothing better to do though so why not  )

Nowhere near the pace of the rest of you though , I didnt get up to speed until lap 20 or so and I was still 5 tenths off the next guy. Lame.

* Not having a go at you mate , clearly car damage and cold tyres were a factor for you.

PS; Max godfather hit you at the hairpin in case you were wondering

PPS; I hate it when Im NOT coming last but everyone below me quits.... so then Im last.

its all good mate... my connection seemed to be horrible last night, sorry, didn't mean to imply you're were not clean. I should have guessed it was also lag.. re racing solo, i almost never quit a race, the guys i regularly race with can atest to this.... but being so far behind, i didn't feel like another 20 or so laps of practice :yuck:

PS: Yes, damaged car, cold tyres, AND loads more weight (Honda) was causing me drama :-)

Hey all,

Hope you had fun last night. It was good to see some nice racing by all. Top marks to Oni for the win and Taital for a solid second place drive. Also credit to the new guys for racing clean and giving some of the old boys something to think about.

Hopefully we get a few more tier 1 drivers for the next race, and that the net holds up.

Anyway here are some shots from last night.

Here we go

Just on a personal note, i think it is really bad form to quit mid race just because its not going your way. anyone of us can have a bad day, we could crash (happened to me)or run out of gas (happened to me), or set our car up wrong(happened to me) or i dare say it, drive like ****(nah, hasn't happened to me)

if you've had enough just pull over (in a safe spot) and go get a drink and let the others enjoy their moment, where every they are running:tup:

So you mean, there are more tier 1 drivers?? Are there any tier 2 drivers? I don't want to race alone.

i think it goes without saying that quitting mid-race because of prangs is bad form, "personal note" or whatever, this really seems like a subtle dig at me.. thats bad form.

Be that as it may, I agree. BUT, if someone is lagging, and copping massive damage collisions as a result, i would prefer they quit rather than ruin someone elses race in addition to their own.

Hey CJ,

Sorry if you thought my last post was directed at you, it wasn't it was just a general comment that was really directed to everyone. It would've have been nice for spinner to see some reward for his battling through the field, than to finish and still see that he shows up last in the time sheet.

Under your circumstances where you are having dramas with lag I'd probably drop out.

But I'm sure everyone here has been in a race and done well only to look up and see half the field drop off.

Nice photos there boys.

Though my victory does feel abit hollow due to me being the only T1 driver to finish the race. But hey a win is a win.

Evan had a super driver.. starting last on the grid and finishing 3rd. Super driver mate!

CJ etc.. i wouldn't worry to much. The first race is always full of dramas as we seen last night. Race 2 should be much improved. Also if someone is lagging bad it is best they leave the race to avoid any problems.

because of the "mesh network" type, sadly, I don't think switching hosts would make a difference.. unfortunately in my case, telstra have oversold the exchange I am on, and I am subject to congestion in the evenings.. :-( some evenings it's great, but others it can be bad. The good news is they have scheduled an upgrade for jan 2012, but until then I am kinda at the mercy of how many households are flooding the exchange at that particular time...

Sorry Dan the series is currently filled up.

UPDATE TO TEAMS

I will now allow a maximum of 3 driver teams. Maximum of 1 x Tier 1 driver and 2 x Tier 2/3 drivers.

The reason i am doing this is Monday is only a few days away and there are still people without teams. If the teams are not sorted by Sunday evening i will sort everyone in to respective teams.

So if you have a team idea or want to start one make sure you post it as i will start assigning people into the teams already created (Retina Burn, Team Nipple, Spidey Sense, Super Sic Racing, Team Colour Blind, Figjam Racing, Team Gold Member).

_________________________________________________

Sillywilly you haven missed both qualifying sessions and have yet to add myself or jasr73 to friends so i have moved you off into a wildcard. As Mondays race is only days away and i cant be chasing people a day before the race. If you are still interested in joining it full time then if someone leaves the series you will have first choice at going full time.

Hi. Sorry mate, I haven't had the internet for the past 2 weeks as I have moved houses. Wildcard sounds good for me. I expect my net to be up sometime this week. PM me if there is a free spot and i'll come.

Great to see the photo's guys.

With the team names this year we're gonna have a field day with double meanings and innuendo.

Taital I see your nipple has the High beams on.

I really hoping I can get in a few races this season. I got what I think is a really good setup for the roadster TC.

Have to see what happens.

With regards to the dreaded LAG.. could it be an idea to rotate hosts? dunno if this would help?

sadly there is not alot you can do about the lag :(
turning down or off the mic settings for the room help.
main thing is to reset your router, clear the PS3 cashe and make sure you are the only person using the internet in your house (i turn off all other pcs)
changing host doesnt really do much, unless if someone cant get in then swaping tracks resets the room.
Sadly PD need better servers

Mic is disabled always on race nights, if your on wifi, try buying an extender. Telstra have 2 options. 1 is an Internet connection through your power point, 2 is an industrial strength wifi extender that ethernets into your modem. Both options are $99 at Telstra shops. If you want more info ask me or jasr via PM as we both work for Telstra. I personally use the power line Internet option and also the industrial strength wifi at home. My PS3 uses the power-net. My pc uses the wifi extender.

Also, part of the reason I chose nipples is due to the headlights option with my pink car

So you mean, there are more tier 1 drivers?? Are there any tier 2 drivers? I don't want to race alone.

There are more tier 1 drivers and most of the guys in the series at the moment are tier 2 drivers.

Anyone in the Honda CR-V (like me) is a tier 1 driver.
Tier 2 can choose between the Honda or the Mazda, but I don't think anyone's chosen the Honda.
Tier 3 use the Mazda.

The different tiers don't mean you're in a seperate competition, like class racing,
it just determines which guys use the slightly faster Mazda and which guys use the Honda.

It's a pity I couldn't join the room as I felt quite confident at this track in this car.
I got about 6 or 7 1:28.xxx's in a row on the mediums in a mock race I had, and alot of 1:29.xxx's on the hards.

Hopefully I can claw back some points if I can get in next week :)

Ah, i see. It's because i was so off the pace from the tier 2 drivers. Yeah, it's a huge shame you had problems. I tried my best for the team, lost 1 point in the end(from the maximum).

One thing about these enduro's Pawel, is no matter how much faster the guy in front may be, all it takes is 1 little slip up (like my own in front of the chan-man) and you're past him.
Its not about who is fastest, its who is most consistent and looks after not only their tyres, but the whole car. Damage on full really does add to the racing, and after 45 laps whoever lost time on extra pit stops and limping back to the pits with terminal engine damage will be nowhere near the front.
My race was ruined at trial mountain due to ONE WHEEL on the grass, which just so happened was directly in front of the chan-man, who had nowhere to go, and we collided. Oni got some steering damage, I got steering and engine damage. The drive to the pits from the first tunnel, at 80km/h is a long one!!
If it werent for that slip up, my one stop strategy MAY have worked.
The other thing that does not help is tyre wear. The softs, mediums and hards all have different grip levels, but all last the same. If a hard tyre lasted 25 laps opposed to a medium lasting 18, strategy would play a much bigger role in these endurance races. I hope PD can rectify this, its a big design flaw!

RACE STEWARDS REPORT

Firstly Jasr73 and myself would like to congratulate Oni_Chan on his victory, well driven.

Generally speaking, the race was pretty well clean and credit must be paid to ALL drivers participating for not cutting any corners throughout the entire race.

Just a note to drivers on lap 1, please be mindful that whilst it is only a game, damage is on FULL.

For the first few laps please remember you’re on a hard compound tyres that are slowly coming up to temperature. This means your braking distances / grip levels are constantly changing.

We observed and incident where there was contact between drivers which pushed a driver into the wall, giving the driver damage which as we all know. This has the potential to ruin a race.

Considering the race is at least 1 hour in duration this is something no one wants this early on.

To be clear, we will be policing drivers who over commit in braking areas which results in causing contact/damage to a vehicle in front AND could of otherwise been avoided.

Specifically, the behind driver must take all necessary care and responsibility not to run into an ahead driver. In case you brake too late for a corner or partially lose control of your car, but can prevent an accident by steering into the dirt, grass or a wall, you are expected to do so.

In light of this AND reflecting on the GTP OLR Rules and Guidelines charter, a warning has been issued to CJMonkey for contact causing a driver to make impact with the wall causing damage.

Purpose of this is not single CJ out, but rather to stand as a reminder to the entire field of the level of professionalism expected in this series.

Further, an enquiry was launched into reports of contact at turn 5 on lap 1, during our search, we have found no contact. The run wide was caused due to lag.

=================================================

Looking forward to next weeks race, we won't be policing corner cutting as it's impossible to cut at this circuit, if you manage to cut, your either outside the map or face first in a wall.

We will be policing contact, blocking, tyre infringements as per normal.

Hey guys, I just checked my roster for next week and I've got Monday night off.

First time in 3 months. :banghead:

So I'll be able to make it, if there's a spot that is.

fingers crossed.

Question for the Chan-man and the Stewards:
If one decides they no longer want to complete the race (whether it be due to damage or whatever), what is expected from the driver? (sit in pits, side of track, ragequit?)

Best to pull over in my opinion, as we know the network jolts for a second when someone leaves track. So pit lane with pause is ideal or park out of harms way with pause on also.

That's my opinion.

FYI if your lagging it's best to leave anyway

I'd prefer nobody ragequit as staying in the race and not completing still earns you points and as Taital said will reduce those sudden spikes from people leaving mid race.

In regards to whether to pull in the pits or sit on the side of the track. It depends on the track. A track like SSR5 you would need to sit in the pits. So to do that enter pit lane and press start. The car will remain there until you press start to resume. Tracks with big run offs and sand traps etc you can easily use any off the run off lanes. It is the responsibility of the driver to park there car in a safe manner that will not interfere with the racing.
