Hey guys, sorry if I caused some carnage at the start of last nights race, I couldn't see Jol at all and as I entered the first tunnel first lap jas suddenly kicked sideways and I hit the brakes then got a tap from waynz as I swerved to avoid hitting

Sorry Jol if I stuffed your race, I'm really hope I didn't.
I'm interested to know if You could see me and if me hitting you gave you much damage, I only showed damage from where waynz got me.

I also some massive lag spikes from taital and thought that I had passed him at the hairpin only to have him jump back battling with CJ again. A little off putting, but lucky that I didn't get tagged.

The net was obviously running a little slow with Christmas traffic:crazy:

Sounds like you guys had a pretty crap night with connection problems, and from what Wayne and spin said some of you got the delayed start again like the first week.... Sooo.... BRING BACK THE WARM UP LAP YAYYYYYYY

I'm keen for it and might help with the busy holiday season, because we all know lag is the worst at the start of the race.

On another note, I'm looking for anyo e interested in a christmas endurance race round the north loop, keen to do a few other holiday, and maybe on Sunday nights, just wanting to find out how many people are keen and if there is a better day to do it, I'm looking at a longer race, 1.5 hrs to 2 and full weather and all other realistic settings on. So let me know who is keen and of there is enough drivers we can sort out a fun but longer race

Edit: also I said Christmas enduro, so I'm wanting gold and silver chrome cars and bright or shiny reds and greens haha just for some good Xmas pics!!!

Also well done stiggy, doing better than your team mate hahaha

By the sounds of it, looks like you all had a pretty frustrating night!

hey all

watched the replay of the start a few times trying to work out what happened.

From my view in the race i got a good start, maybe to good in the end and was up behind jasr and saw spinner slow down in front of him so i slowed to and thought all was good then next thing i am sliding into jasr and then into the side wall were i bounced of and wayn got sandwiched between me and evan. I got massive damage and limped back to the pits.

Really i am not sure i could see evan in the race or not but before the start he was loading for me fine and also i see him no problem in the replay, but it all happened so fast and i was never close to him again in the race.

From the replay i can see that what spinner said was about what happened.

I don't think it was anyones fault, just a very bad night with connections, i had no other computers on in the house and should have a good connection. Speedtest for me says Ping 19ms, 15.46 download and .84 upload. I think it has more to do with sony crap servers than anything else.
 
I was watching the replay again today and its unfortunate to say this but not 1 person was lagging in my replay except taital which is very out of the norm for him.

What i would like to do if everyone has the time this week is test a public lobby as per waynz suggestion and another host.

I am thinking tomorrow night if people are free. Let me know.

The unfortunate thing is this lag may get worse for some people due to holiday traffic. The closer to Christmas the worse i suspect it to be. Hence why there is a gap after next weeks sprint race.

Also Mike, we have never had issues with you in the past before so it is strange to see it happening now. Let me know if you can do it Wednesday and us regular series guys will try a test before the newer members join. It could be a case of you and another member are not compatible which is causing each other errors.

EDIT: Willco being tanked and not racing is not an excuse mate! If Lost (VTEK) can do it you can! haha joking mate. Hope you had a good time though.
 
Just a thought , after the failure of quali last night....... What if one person (host?)leaves the track at the end of quali and checks the standings in live timing , notes the positions. Then if we get a black screen or any other issue with race start and lose the games quali standings , we could reset it "manually". I've done this before and it works fine:

All drivers leave the lobby and go to pits. The host types out the quali list and drivers go onto the track in that order. P1 will go out a few hundred metres and park , P2 will park behind him and so on. (host needs to slot himself in there obviously). When we are all lined up , race is started and we should be gridded up in order of the real quali session order.

Also , Im all for trying a public room in the hope that we never have to go through last nights ordeal again ! Quali could still be done in a private lounge and using the above method , we could all jump in a public lobby and get the race started asap. (host might have to jump in last and quickly slot into his "parking spot" hopefully before any randoms join !

Just a thought.......

I thought I'd fixed my net issues by bypassing the router, but alas this is not the case.

I joined a random lobby after the failed attempts to join Oni and Taital's lobbies, and had the same problem.
The loading bar is halfway down, I can't access the garage or anything, and although the track appears to have loaded, I can't hear or see any cars on the track in the main lobby screen.
If I try to exit from there it freezes and I have to reset the PS3.

It's either that or the old "Incompatible with room host" message.

I'll have to get someone around who knows alot better than me about these sort of problems, and see if I can get it fixed, but for now I'll have to retire from the series until I get this sorted, hopefully by next week if my driver spot is still open.

I know it might sound simple, but have you gone though your PS3 settings and did a connection test. I wasn't able to get into rooms till I did that.
 
What spin said works, we did it in a pub room, the host read out the grid, we left pit lane and lined up on the track in that order. Because we left pit lane and lined up it gridded us in that order. Won't work if we have quali tho.

Again, in the 12 months ive raced with Oni I have never lagged in a race. Spoke to my ISP and there's nothing they can do to change my speed. But I've been in 2 prior races at the new house with no problems. I hope it was a once off freak incident

Personally I don't think a public room will work but im in for a trial tomorrow night.

Did anyone notice my lag at trial mount? Looking at jasr roots willy and ev coz I raced with you guys all race.

Yeah I'm down for trying a public room tonight.

I thought it might have been one of the newcomers that I was incompatible with,
but I tried a public lobby on Monday after the issues and the same problem happened,
so now I'm not sure.

Anyway, let me know on the forum or PSN what time you guys will be trying the lobby tonight and I'll jump on.

I'd say we do it at 8:30pm the standard time which will help figure out any traffic load from the holiday season.

Have a look at the link if you are interested. Invite whoever you want, don't have to be apart of Oni's series. Just looking to have a fun, but longer race :)

The track was decided by the few that was organising it, which was picked after the cars where picked. Since we are using N24 cars it was a brain dead choice on the track.

There will be more Enduro's in the future around real world tracks, so it wouldn't be fair upon the people that want to run the N24 layout. I'm sure Oni would tell you where to go if you tried to change the track just because 'you don't like it'.

Every week, before start of race, i have a ritual, clear cache, test connection, reset router, turn everything off in the house, so only GT5 is using internet. At trial mointain, i saw all drivers during the race, no lag. At SSR5, i joined the room, i saw everyone, but when i went to track only 8 people showed up, and a few seconds later i got disconnected. And it seemed alot of people also had trouble.
 
Seems to be getting worse for me. I know my router is old but it still gives me a ping of 21m/s which isn't enough to lag me out or d/c.

Two words - School Holidays :(

We had 8 people including Mike and it was fine. No lag and smooth racing. Everyone could see each other.

I think Mike and another driver are not compatible with each other which is causing the problems. As Mike has been in the series a long time and never had an issue. We are not sure who is causing the problems as none of the new drivers to the series was online for the test.

As for trying public lobbies we had more issues with that. People couldn't connect or get compatibility errors and gave us a headache. We tried even switching hosts for a public lobby to Jazza and some of us couldn't see the room let alone try connect.

Private lounges are definitely the way to go though we need to sort out a backup host as i wont be in Australia for the Nurburging GP/D Round.

I ran a speed test when the lines went to ****... 0.31mb/s down and 0.08 up ... Beat that :lol:

Hey Oni, I should be able to make the Monday night race.

Hopefully I can do better than SS5. :ouch:
