58.175, yep. I saw the replay, and what can i say, i was pushing as hard as i could. Always trying to keep two wheel inside the track. Guess i didn't that time.
Evan was best with a 58.283.

Is it natural to see every other driver with heavy damage during a replay?

A replay glitch mate, you did your best on all laps but that one stood out mate and it just happened on that lap lol

You continue to amaze me mate

Substitute "bore" for "amaze" and i'll believe you. ;)

Had considered adding a column with the lap number. Not sure how much benefit people would find it. Still thinking about it.

How do I embed a link within a piece of text? Same as Oni does with the championship results on the first page?

Stape, you're not **** at all mate. Look at those times, the entire field is still within, what 5% of the top times. The fastest times don't tell the full story although there interesting to look at (great job Cactus). I reckon practice, practice, practice and good preparation is the key. That and trying different brake and throttle techniques and different lines through corners and so on. I'm no expert on this stuff but from my karting days I always found running with a faster bunch of guys, definately makes you a quicker driver as well in the longer term.

Also I have to admit I do like to study in replay, how the quick guys are taking their lines, braking points and throttle applications and so on. I like to switch to bumper cam and remove all the screen data except what you actually see when your driving, just to try and pick up hints of the quickest way through certain sections of tracks that I'm struggling with and so on.

Sorry I bailed on the race the other night guys.

Usually when the race starts my frame rate drops alot, but it's still manageable.
This time it wasn't too bad off the line, but as the race went on it just got worse, to the point where one frame I'd be fine, the next I'd be sideways, the next I'd be starting a tank slapper in the opposite direction.
Maybe It was lag, or a weird frame rate thing, hard to know.

In other news, my real cars cabin has been filling with petrol fumes all day, been trying to work out why by the time I go to work tomorrow morning.
After going through everything I could think of, I checked my fuel filler cap, which I had put back on yesterday after filling up... it was on crooked, but of course the ratchet sound had gone off anyway so I thought it was closed.

Super fail.

Edit: Also I'm looking at getting a new gaming screen/TV with much less input lag (as in you press a button and it takes quarter of a second to happen on screen).
If anyone has any suggestions of something they use or have heard of, let me know. :)

....The fastest times don't tell the full story.....

Very true. I've entered 3 races, and am only ahead of Waynz who's completed only 4 laps, and those who have never started a race. :dunce:

PC monitors are the fastest as far as I am aware as they normally do not have image processing software/hardware to work on the image before displaying it. Some TV's do have a "Game" mode to try and eliminate some of the processing, but I've herd some lag is still present. The drawback with PC monitors is limited size, up to 27".

Loving Cac-Graphs (TM) data support for this series mate. Adds an excellent new dimension for me.👍

Mike, agree with Cactus's comments here on monitors.

TV's are getting quicker in dealing with input lag thanks to swifter processors and less filter pass through in dedicated game modes (although in some TV's this just a color balance gimmick). As a really general guide, any panel quoting under 30ms of input lag, translates to less than one frame of lag out of 60 per second and that's plenty good enough for GT. Often manufactures wont quote it on main features but it should be buried in the specs somewhere. I've also seen first hand some the newest series 3D LED TV's that we have at work suffering from shocking lag (although they look amazing) when our dev's are testing them for content input. Stick to a Plasma or a LCD's for gaming at the moment I reckon.

Go Plasma ... you cant go wrong. I have been using my 5 year old Pioneer Plasma TV without any problems. Plasmas now days get alot less hotter and consume alot less energy then they used to and you get the best/deepest blacks.

If you love watching sports as well the Plasma is the number 1 choice. Though OLED TVs are very close to Plasma now. I'd stay away from 3D TVs for a bit longer. They are not quite up to scratch yet.

Bit off topic but guys remember how i was telling you i went shooting on the weekend. This is the .308 Savage sniper rifle i used.

I run ps3 to stereo, via hdmi and optical, then from stereo to projector via hdmi also, and have no lag in the picture or the sound. I did notice lag when using the component cables though.

Thanks to everyone who responded about the gaming screen.

I've decided I'm going to get a monitor for the moment, mostly because I've been playing a lot of FPS games and the lag is really noticeable on those.

In a game where getting a fraction of a second jump on someone is an advantage, it's very hard to play quarter of a second behind everyone else.

I'll just keep my current TV for GT and look at getting another 40 inch down the track, I should probably buy a new real car first before I spend too much money on driving virtual ones. :)

Did some testing with the controller the way the car handles brakes and uses tyres is like night and day compared to the g27 feel like quitting altogether.how can ps provide a level playing field for ALL of it's customers?Don't feel like going back to the controller ,may as well play arcade mode with all aids on

Perfect example of wheel vs controllers I can't do donuts with wheel but can at will with controller exact same setup can anyone explain this for me it's very frustrating I feel like im missing something fundamental with my wheel settings (sim, 10ff) does controller sensitivity effect wheels?

I know how you feel Stape. I went 3 steps back when I got my wheel , couldn't get near my pace on a controller. Now I reckon I'm about level , def not faster on the wheel. Its much more enjoyable on the wheel though and I can drink / snack during races down a straight. Ooh there's half a Snickers bar .... !

Not sure about the sensitivity settings making a difference to wheels. I have it set to 7 anyway. Also on sim and ff5 (5 suits my wheel which has plenty of muscle if you want it)

Kinda sucks yeah , but I won't go back to a controller now.

I haven't really found any problem with doughnuts or anything with the G27 Stape.
It took quite a while to get used to drifting again, and I can no longer drift high downforce cars at 300kph with ridiculous counter-steer corrections like with the controller, but overall I found that I was faster in the end with the wheel.

It is hard to keep a handle on tyre wear with the wheel though, something I never practiced before I joined this series, still struggling with that.

I run on sim, even though I don't think it affects G27's as they're always on sim, with force feedback on 10.
As far as I know controller sensitivity doesn't affect wheels.

Spin, will, orders for tonight? whoever i am spose to give it to can take medium sized chip packet as it didnt get used last week. thats a Red chip packet, no being stingy and doing a small white chip packet

Rota , I reckon we both go with that colour scheme for the rest of the season. It looks good , is a clear representation of Maccas logo....... and I cbf trying to find new ideas every week haha ! Ive gone red body , yellow wheels.

Will has pulled out of this series I believe.

After an intense photo finish for 3rd with Jasr, i was hoping to move up the pack and finish strong in the second race.
I was going hard, while being cautious, and was impressed with the race quality with everyone, as i made my way up the field.
Then i got up to Cactass, and passed him before the first pit, he passed me in the pit stop, and i was 3 places down on 1st, with Taital and Oni fightning up front.
Then i caught a break, when i saw Oni and Taital struggling, i was able to pass Cac and then Oni, and with 2 laps to go, on the straight, i blew my engine(PSN disconnected me). Leaving Cactass a deserved win.

I had some great racing with a lot of people tonight, and it was great fun as always.

Nice passing tonight boys no hits nudges or bumps full respect.wd 2mikes and you too custard man unlucky pawel

RACE STEWARDS UPDATE

After review by the race stewards jasr73 and mrtaital after consulting with Oni_Chan.

As with all races fastest laps, they are reviewed to verfiy if they were legal, with this in mind we have reviewed the current fastest lap posted by Mike--ekiM at Tokyo R246 in Race 2, and have found that the lap is not valid. Therefor the points for fastest lap in Race 2 will go to Oni_Chan

Evidence of the infringements are below

No further penalties will apply to Mike--ekiM for that race and he will retain the fastest lap in Race 1

Jase, Oni - i found why my cars braking deminishes during the race, imagine this torture on your brakes for 12 laps

Yep, that's a cut.

It's hard to break the habit of jumping those curbs when pushing hard,
it is the fastest line usually, and in the license tests it even encourages you to do so.
I often find myself correcting an early turn-in.

I thought that lap was clean or I would have said something earlier, oh well. :)

Mate honestly i didn't realise how often people do those cuts without knowing, at full speed in the middle of a race you don't really notice - i noticed on most other laps you were using the perfect amount of kerb

Heck i noticed i managed to get turn 1 a few times like everyone else haha

Yes! It's that time again!

Just a suggestion mate, as you have 2 different types of purples. On the right hand side can you put them in finish order, R2 you had spin up the top but he was last - just makes it easier to follow the path of certain drivers. I see it's in start order. Unless you can find an individual colour per driver it makes it hard to follow

The colours are all different and chosen by Google Docs, and while it is posible to individually modify each colour, it would be time consuming to generate a dozen or more distictly different colours. Hense the easiest solution is to click on the individuals name and GD will highlight that persons race path. (GD does not have a good colour pallete either.)

I would like to put the legend on the left like I used to in the Excel screen dumps, but unfortunately GD doesn't allow it, as GD is extremely limiting compared to MS Excel.

Remember:- CLICK on the persons name.:sly:
