Sorry for the rage quit last night boys. I had a good start, but was really struggling on the hard tyres. And I had ZERO practice untill 15 minutes before quali.
I decided to pit at the end of lap 5, and idiot me forgot to change from hards to mediums!
You can all imagine the words that were coming out of my mouth.. went straight back in to the pits, put on the mediums, and came out a lap down. NOT HAPPY.
Tried to stay with it for some 10 laps, but was making no progress, just had the ****s, so decided to EFF OFF. Hope the next one is better.

Early on in the race, before wilco pitted. I had a good run on him out of the second to last corner, and was able to go side by side into the main straight, passing wilco, but out of nowhere got passed by 2 or 3 other drivers slipstreaming me. So i gained a place, and immediately lost it all and more.

I had a good race last night, there is no way I should of won, Jol had it completely covered, his tyre strat and ability to save those tyres beat us all, it was so unlucky that he slightly touched the sand out of the last corner.

Unfortunate mate, but I had a great time trying to make my tyres last while trying to hold you off for as long as possible :)

Also well done on the Photo Comp ev!

Now all we need is a theme!!!

Great race last night everyone, really was some good battles out there.

I had a good battle with spin for a few laps at the start on the hards, had to try and get a lead around the back of the track because that Celica would just fly past in the straight and even when i had a good draft as soon as i pulled out it would pull ahead again.

Great fun catching rota at the end, with 2 laps to go i got him and all was looking good but coming out of the last corner i was trying to get a good run onto the straight because i thought he was behind me then spun it and watched spin go by, ahh :scared: it was spin behind me not rota.

Great race rota you deserve the win, its not easy leading and managing that lead with someone coming at you most of the way.

As Rota said Jol , that was rightfully your race last night. Brilliant drive mate (except for that bit near the end !) I was on good softs and in desperate pursuit of Taital who was just ahead of you. With a handful of laps remaining , I knew my only hope of catching him was to get in your draft for a couple of laps.

Anyway , I did catch Taital by the line , only just pipping him by a few tenths. The Celica is a weapon in the draft hey. Must be the 2.06 version exhaust :D

My race went down the pooper when I clipped the tyre bundle at the apex of turn 1 around lap 27. I'd just pitted and the plan was looking decent up until that point. Happy to salvage what points I could though !

Sorry about the brakes thing on lap 3 Tait , I was in between drafts from the 2 cars in front. When I got off the gas , the car felt unstable so I just wanted to settle it down and avoid hitting anyone in front. Wasn't prepared to dive into the gap , that would have required max commitment and could have been messy the way my car was handling. Knew you were somewhere behind me but didn't realise you were that close.

Hey guys thanks for the votes, it had a lot of fun.

Great race last night, not the best result for me, couple of little mistakes and one big hit, first corner smacked the tires, massive damage, limped back to pits and took my place at the back of the field:indiff:

Still had a few little battles with Oni and Jas, nice racing but probably held you both up. Well done Rota great win mate, you are just to fast

OK next weeks theme.
When i think of Indianopolis, i think of the scoring pylon.

This weeks photo must have the pylon somewhere in the composition.

"THE PYLON"

have fun with this,

Hey guys,

Good race last night and nice to be back after no wheel time since Round 2. Congrats to Rota, Jol and Moon for some superb results and also JVT for an excellent first outing.

I struggled with this one early on; I was saying to Rota & Spin in the practice room how much speed you *(well me) can lose if you step out for a week or so and don't play (my excuse anyway)...

Had an epic fail on T1 on L2 - even though we talked about it in practice :dunce: - I lost the track side braking marker following Taits, Spin and Pawel and didn't get on the stoppers till about 90m…still at 260Kph+...A massive panic brake ensued :nervous: and spit second search for a safe exit = armfuls of lock to the right, everything crossed and go for the tire island, missing Spin by less than a bee's - sorry for that fright mate!

From there it was back to the pits, out on hards again :grumpy: and the long road home to try and save some semblance of cred. By about half race distance, I'd managed to tack onto the back of Ev. A great battle unfolded with us trading places many times. Great driving Ev, you’re a pro mate. 👍

On L37ish, I accidently had a coming together with Taits at T2 (after he was re-entering the track after his off track excursion at T1); sorry about that mate - honestly couldn’t see you…in hindsight I should have kept a tighter line. :dunce:

EDIT: EV no way you where holding me up man i was pulling out all stops to try and stay with you haha

On l2 I seen how deep you were on brakes and I held a massively wide line, turned in and you weren't there so I knew you had a date with the wall haha.

Regarding l37ish I'm shattered about this I was distracted by oni in my mirror and didn't brake until the 50m marker, managed to stop it before the tyre wall and I decided to cut the grass to avoid rejoining infront of all 3 of you, thought I did a good job of rejoining but contact was made with jase, if my rejoining caused this jase I'm sorry but I didn't want to join mid turn 1 infront of oni, you and ev.

Bloody spin in his sillycar reeled me in hardcore over the last 3 laps with my deteriorating front tyres and rear damage made it a challenge. Btw it was the worst damage I could get with a flu on a controller because it turned left so I couldn't wipe my nose on the sweeping right hander onto the straight haha.

Had a few shocking weeks and need to bounce back quickly, don't think Madrid is the place to bounce back but we'll see lol

Features on the bottom of the cous cous packet,

" Cooks in 5 mins "

That's a reference to tyre wear, should have read

" Cooks tyres in 5mins "

Cous cous is HORRIBLE in itself but your statement regarding tyre wear is accurate and scarily frustrating

Got ya :sly:

Last season we had a McDonalds team, now we're looking at healthier foods.

Before we started the V12 series i originally set up a McDonalds team and i called it "Greasy Nips" and i still have the photo somewhere... but as Jasr merged with Wayn's and My own nipple we went true blue and formed Aussie Nips and then Rota, Spin, and Willy showed no originality and used it :P

Ok boys, got a few shots this morning. Don't know which is my Comp entry yet ev Mic (sorry), will let you know.

Looks like the cameraman is blacking out as he falls over.

If you're not sure of a comp entry I gotta say that last shot looks pretty damn good.

Sorry mate, got you and ev mixed up as he was the winner last week and was telling us the theme hahaha.

Last shot it is then for the comp entry. As some said, the first pic is nice but those lines kill it.

Btw, love the comp mic, It makes me jump on and take these pics each week, great idea mate.

Gents/Ladies,
Graphs for Monday's race are done.

Also, I've made up a version of the graphs showing tyre selection during the race, rather than just a different colour for each driver.

Indy-Tyre_Selection_Example Graph

Red = Softs

Yellow = Mediums
Green = Hards

(If you prefer to view it like the old way, there is a drop-down box next to the COLOUR bar on the right hand side, and select "Unique Colour")

Would you folks prefer the graphs in future (at least for this series with its tyre regulation) to be as per this new style, or stick with the old style?

Comp entry noted.

Thanks for the feedback on the comp, yeah it just hit me one day that there were lots of good pictures being posted each week, and that a photo comp would be another thing that could add to the series.

Also you mentioned about the first pic, the lines. I figure you're referring to the way that the image has swirls in the dark sky. It's like that in a lot of things, images can't do a smooth transition from 'nearly dark' to 'nearer dark' to full dark. It's like the palette is limited there. I think also that LCD screens really show it up too.

The only way to avoid it is have the 'nearly dark' to dark areas be smaller abrupt areas so that the steps in tone change aren't so noticeable, which happens better in the last image. It's there if you look for it, but not so obvious that it affects the image.
