they were speaking about f1 or an another car in monaco and i said f1 is more exciting. (Ran out of reasons? it's my first replay in the discussion)

Sorry, I didn't the correlation between you saying "F1 is better" and the other discussion about "another car in Monaco".

i would do 25% road,25% oval,25% street and 25% rally to equal it out

i would love to see North Wilkesboro Speedway or Bristol Motor Speedway in GT5
and a NASCAR Tour Mod

well 1 Oval track is perfectly fine... at the end of the day a circle is a circle... you only turn left and if you go reverse you only turn right... :odd:

And ignorance is always ignorance, so having only one ignorant in the forum would be nice for a change.

I'd like at least 15-16 ovals to make a NASCAR/IndyCar series at least a little interesting.

Honestly, the more tracks they cram into this game the better it will be.

I'm thinking DLC on alot of oval tracks though. Maybe downloadable series'.

I think some of the most talented online drivers are going to excel in the inevitable NASCAR series, while most of the rubes who discount racing on an oval as boring might qualify high, but will be black flagged for not being able to sustain their position without making erratic manuevers and causing accidents. Those same rubes are far more likely to cause accidents on the more 'freestyle' road courses, thinking that their line is the only one that matters.

Those same drivers who manage to wrangle their stock cars around 100+ laps without duffing into walls/cars will always be respectable drivers on road courses and will likely make up the upper 1% of drivers overall.

Just my opinion.

I like it if the ovals have race circuit variations, like Daytona and Indianapolis. Then we get a large number of ovals with a large number of unique race circuits as well. Win/win!

That would also work for me!!:)👍

I should have put that in the polls. I guess we could do this yay nay style and let people give their opinion by quoting this.

So, would you want more ovals if the ovals had road course variations? (Such as Indy or Daytona)

.

Can you call them separate tracks though? just ovals with different banners on the side and nothing interesting about any of them.

To the people calling ALL ovals boring, and coming from a NASCAR background I will acknowledge that NASCAR does have some boring ovals now (especially the ones they've added over the last 10 or so years) I would love to have Darlington added to Gran Turismo 5 just to shut you up. Try running close to competitive on that track and not hit the wall.

That said, I love road courses and want to throw a NASCAR car on as many GT tracks as possible. But I would also like to include a more representative selection of ovals, such as Darlington, Richmond, Pocono, and Atlanta. Will it happen? Probably not. Will I cry a river about it? Nope. Daytona, Indy, Motegi are in there, all of which NASCAR has run before. Perhaps another 1 or 2 ovals we'll get surprised with.

I love road courses though. So the more road courses, the merrier. Anyone else besides me think it would be interesting to wrestle a Sprint Cup car around Nurburgring or Monaco in the wet?

15 - 16 tracks is way to many, there are only 60 tracks in GT5 and if 25% are going to be oval then that just a waste when there could be some really good circuits added.

I don't understand the last two paragraphs, your saying people who like Nascar are going to be clean drivers while people who don't like it are going to be dirty drivers?

He's saying that people that understand NASCAR knows that it takes a bunch of patience and discipline to race sucessfully for long distances. Non NASCAR followers maybe not so much.

Just a note to all the NASCAR/oval defenders, I understand your annoyance, NASCAR/oval racing is not given the respect it deserves. It is as much a sport and a challenge as F1, and a lot of people are blissfully ignorant of this. However, not everyone who doesn't like NASCAR/ovals is a blind hater. I just don't happen to enjoy watching NASCAR/ovals as much as circuit racing, and I certainly have never enjoyed racing ovals in a game as much as circuits (GT and Forza included).

I merely answered the question posed in the thread, I could do without ovals in a racing game. I'm sure GT5 will have them (it would only makes sense with NASCAR included), and I'm not going to oppose PD just because they are trying to please someone other than myself.

I hope this lowers tensions a bit here.

It seems to me that you weren't sarcastic at all. And obviously I'm not the only one who didn't find sarcasm in that post of yours.

Exorcet, we don't have a problem with you at all (at least not me). You are respectful and you at least justify why you don't like NASCAR. But other people said things that certainly show a lack of intelligence.

i should of known sarcasm doesn't fly well over the internet... ill make sure to add "(Sarcasm)" at the end of anything sarcastic from now on.

i don't want to lack intelligence you know??? specially when it comes to a video game. (Sarcasm)

Nothing wrong with that. People have preferences, and preferences =/= ignorance.

Let's re-quote what you originally put:

well 1 Oval track is perfectly fine... at the end of the day a circle is a circle... you only turn left and if you go reverse you only turn right... :odd:
Not one element of what you wrote there came across as sarcastic. So, there are two possibilities here:

  1. You might have thought you were being sarcastic as you wrote it, and you might even think that the inclusion of :odd: at the end further reinforced that thought, but it didn't. You are right, sarcasm does not fly well over the internet, especially when the poster does not know how to word things properly and use emoticons effectively to get that sarcasm across.
  2. You were not being sarcastic at all, and simply used hindsight as a means to counter somebody when they were "angered" by your post.
You getting all defensive about it and spitting your dummy out leads me to think it was the latter of those possibilities. If it was genuine sarcasm and somebody clearly misunderstood it, you could have just told them nicely instead of responding with, "I knew some one would get angry..." Either that, or you were just out trolling...

:sly: thank you!!! ill be here all night...

like i said next time ill just add "(Sarcasm)" at the end of it all.

but back to the topic, i could careless for oval tracks, because im not a fan of Nascar or any sort of oval races... so even if going back to my statement, i still stand by it... one oval track will do it for me... because im not fancy of going around in a circle.

but if you do love Nascar/Oval... by all means love it till death, its your life you do what you want with it... how does me not favoring a certain motor-sport reflect on my personal "intelligence"??? its call Personal Opinion... if im not mistaken im allowed to have one...

i don't recall coming on here and telling people they lack intelligence because they like Nascar or Ovals races....

It's actually amusing that you still (stubbornly?) fail to understand why people reacted and posted like they did, including the comment about your intelligence. It had nothing to do with your preference of motor sport, and everything to do with the way you worded it. If you cannot see that, then maybe the comment about your lack of intelligence was right?

You are absolutely allowed to have an opinion, forums would be boring without them. Some people are just better at expressing their opinions than others...

After reading Clarkman's thread, we can now basically confirm 20 tracks. I predict 5 ovals, 11 road courses, and 4 rally stages.

ideally 0% oval, 50% circuits, 25% touge(since i'd rather go back to playing kaido or waiting for next one for touge), 25% rally.

ovals are just good for nascar which i don't care about.
