I'm open to anything. Benny had us do a lap of the X-track with 300 PP. Excruciatingly sssllllooooowwwww, but fun nonetheless.

Btw, I'm going to share the replays.
For a moment, I tought, I have a chance there with my S800, but when the uphill section came you guys just flew off like missiles in your Abarths and left me back behind in the dust...

Some OWS race pics.

very nice! hopefully you didn't get cleared out. i saw they were doing these in the morning a few months ago, but figured it was a one-off. almost like they should actually advertise these things on the dang map!

and re: lobby later this week, i think i've narrowed down categories... 150hp/2205lbs minimum (1000 kg), 250hp/2866lb (1350 kg). maybe pre '80 for both but i like people driving what they enjoy. seems like i can get a number of my 'favorites' into those. was also thinking of a 80s/90s race at 350hp/2866 to whip some sports cars around. likely thursday or friday, depending on my week.

That sounds awesome! I'm glad someone can host a night. Might generate some more interest too. Not sure that I'll make it, but if I'm free I will for sure.

Sounds good. I'll have to check my garage for candidates.

In regard to the Toyota thing, I finished but got ZERO points. Not sure if I'll get the freebie car they promise? Btw; it's in the Sport section of the map with the TTs.

oooh i'll have to see, thats worth just logging in. mostly i don't care enough to hurt my SR to do those... i remember the first time i did it, i was GT2 and upset that i didnt get any points for finishing.... then i was in GT1 and upset that i was a moving traffic cone for the other racers!

What tire selection are you proposing ?

probably comfort hard for the lighter race, maybe mediums for the 250/2866 (unless theyre way too easy), and possibly sport hard for the sportscar race. gotta test out the testarossa to see if it can handle those

as of now - planning on hosting an OLD WEIRD AND SLOW-approved lobby on Friday, May 5 with races starting at ~3pm EST (2000 BST). 4 races, aiming to be done in an hour or so. if something changes on my end i will update here. there is no 'barrier to entry' or anything - if you're a friendly driver, add me on PSN or just join in!

1- 150hp max / 2205 lbs minimum (1000kg), pre 1980, comfort hard - 6 laps, Alsace Test Course
2- 250hp / 2866 lbs (1300kg), pre 1980, comfort medium - 5 laps, Road Atlanta
3- 350hp / 2866, 1980 to 1999, sports hard - 7 Lap Nighttime Shootout at Daytona Road Course
4- catalan rallycross, 500pp, anything on dirt tires goes - 6 laps, Catalunya Rallycross

it is also possible i may want to do another rallycross race but we'll see if there is even anyone there! * if anyone finds these weights/hps difficult to meet, i can tweak them. i am personally planning on running the Dino in race 1, stingray concept 59 in 2, testarossa in 3, and 69 stingray in 4.

2- 250hp / 2866 lbs (1300kg), pre 1980, comfort medium (so i can run the '59 stingray)
3- 350hp / 2866, 1980 to 1999, sports hard (so i can run the testarossa)
4- catalan rallycross, 500pp, anything goes (going to try the '69 stingray)

i figure races 1, 2, and 4 will be more 'sprint', with race 3 being a little bit longer (but probably not a pit-race since i've no experience with setting wear/fuel rates). it is also possible i may want to do another rallycross race but we'll see if there is even anyone there! * if anyone finds these weights/hps difficult to meet, i can tweak them.
Thanks for the info, but what day? I'm trying to build some cars at present. Kinda challenging when some of my picks won't cut the mustard coz of prior tunes. (weight mostly)

lmao updated - friday, may 5. i might do some racing tomorrow but not sure how long. and i can drop both weights down! i'm mostly adding max ballast to hit those but i wasnt sure what everyones situation was. what would you prefer?

Thanks for the update. 👍 The weights are fine. I'll just have to pick my cars carefully. ;)

Hi everyone!

@Benny44 : I saw your message on Reddit yesterday and I'd be really interested to join and race with you sometimes. I'm in Japan, so so 5am EST works quite well for me. I'll keep an eye on this topic!
Welcome in @suponji84 ! Good to have you. And glad you can race with us. This Sunday's races haven't been decided yet, but I think we're gonna go with Northern Isles, somewhere around 80 laps for our main one (about 30 seconds per lap).

Also, permaculture (above) is hosting a few races on Friday afternoon 😀

Sounds great. If anyone has some tips of cars applicable to these, (especially fairly cheap) please share. I'm quite new to GT7.

Edit - Although I'm now going through the used car section looking what to buy... I guess finding something yourself is half the fun.

adding the ballast, power restrictor, and computer is the cheapest way to see which cars can do what. be mindful of weight reductions, as @PapaGnr says, because they can’t be undone.

Most of my cars have already had this work done, and I tried to pick weights where I had a lot of ‘cool’ options. I think kudosprime has the weights all sortable- but what I did was flag my favorite old cars and see what could be modified. I chose the HP/weight limit because it leaves some flexibility

edit: The used car / legendary dealers have some good picks in there! Might follow my own advice and get a few unmodified versions of cars I like

I haven't tried it, but I think if you do a body rebuild, it restores the original weight, but it's pricey.

Thank you! I'll do my best to join whenever possible. I'm in the same boat and don't really enjoy the Gr4/3/etc races.

Friday afternoon, if we're talking about EST, unfortunately won't work for me as it will be the middle of the night in Japan.

Hi from aus ...sent a friend request on psn but I couldn't ad gt planet ....so my user has Vit0 in it cheers ....look fwd to some racing ...but a bit concerned the ping may be a problem ...hopefully not

no worries about the ping - we'll just see how it goes. mostly its just about being able to drive unique cars, and do some races without worrying about people out for blood!

and an important update - it appears the ghia roadster can equip dirt tires... that may be my choice for the wacky rallycross.

Odd choice, but you did say 500 PP & no limit as to vehicle? My choice is a "tractor" in disguise. ;) You'll have to see it.
anything goes! should make for some fun pictures.

i tried to think of the weirdest one in my garage for it, and it worked! i know there is some sort of workaround to put dirt tires on all cars but i've not looked into it.

I think most non race cars can equip dirts, but more actual research would verify that. Should be fun.

lobby will open in about 4 hours! either add me on PSN or look up GTplanet - Old Weird & Slow.

there isn’t a way to make races decade specific (that I could tell), so we’ll leave it at a soft request… if someone random joins and meets the other specs I won’t ban them or anything… everyone is welcome

lobby is open! if you catch something is wrong in the settings, feel free to let me know.

Thanks @permaculture for the races. Hp & weight sure makes the races a lot closer, barring slight miscalculations, like walls. ;)

Pictures forthcoming.

Edit: Too bad we couldn't get more racers. :irked:

I forgot to save the 1st race at 150 hp, but got the rest. Race 2 at Atlanta. 2 Corvettes at 250 hp & a fairly even contest. @permaculture doing a victory doughnut.

Race 3 at Daytona with 350 hp. Lambo vs Ferrari. It would have been a better race but I tagged the corner of the wall in turn 1 & caused a mess. Sorry @permaculture. He got the victory burnout.
