Race 4, 500 PP at Catalunya Rally Cross. My "tractor" vs @permaculture's Ghia. It wasn't a fair contest, but goofing around, I lost. ;)

a lot of fun, thank you @PapaGnr for joining! ive got some confidence about hosting multi-race things now.

hp/weight definitely made for interesting races... its definitely more tedious than setting PP/tires, but theres a 'styles make fights' element which is a lot of fun. i'm seeing some max HP/weight races on lobbies but its wild to me that the game's manufacturers can't figure out. the corvette and ferrari/lambo races basically came down to how we set up gear-ratios. since both of those are 5 speeders i tried to optimize them the other day, that was probably the difference. i was absolutely driving that ferrari at the limit to stay ahead, and it felt like i had you in gears 2,3,4... and then those tenths started to disappear. good thing i didn't pick something with a longer straightaway!

You're more than welcome. 👍 There is another small/big difference in that you use manual & a wheel while I'm auto on controller, but that's ok. The objective is to have fun & I think we are. Can't wait to see what your next set-ups are. ;) Lots of choices.

Hey everyone, sorry I've been MIA. Another long week at work haha. So, I've been testing different combinations. One thing I've found with the hp/weight combos is that you can't really go that wrong, everyone will be fairly even.

I was thinking of Northern Isle this week as @PapaGnr suggested. That may be one for a bit more weight and power, because if it's too little power we'll just press the accelerator and not let go. But I haven't tested enough.

So, what I'm thinking is a more lightweight, low hp experience this week. I'm going to change the format a bit. We will start in Kyoto driving park, Yamagiwa + Miyabi. We won't race, but just do a warm up as that has lots of turns to test. That'll be our usual start time, which is 6am for me (5am ET). @Mooseldorf I think we are almost exact opposite of each other, depending on what part of Australia you live.

At 6:15 the first of two races will start - first one at Tsukuba, 20 laps. Tire and fuel wear will be on for both races. 25x tire wear and 35x fuel consumption. The second race will be at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit. 25 laps.

For the first race, BoP will be ON. No tuning, and all assists will be prohibited. We will be driving the Honda Beat. It's at the used car dealership right now for $17000. Paint is really the only thing you can do to it.

Second race will be restricted to no less than 1200lbs and a max of 125hp. Comfort tires of any variant.

I'll try to join too! Just to make sure, I have a few questions:

  • For the Tsukuba race, it will be a stock Honda Beat with no assists. Which tyres will be used? Is ABS allowed or does it count as an assist?
  • For the Brands Hatch Indy race, are there any restrictions in terms of year, make, etc, or is it any car under 1200lbs(544kg) and 125hp?
  • 5am ET means "Eastern Time" right? So that's UTC-4 if I understand correctly? If the race starts at 6:15AM ET, it might be right in the middle of dinner for me but I might be able to join the second race then.
  • Edit: and will there be a PP limit for the second race?
  • Another Edit: are swapped engines allowed or would they be considered too OP?

@PapaGnr anything you want to race, bring it! You have me curious.

@Batschisane52 I hope you're able to make it!

@suponji84 No ABS, no assists. But it only has 64 hp, so it's pretty easy to handle😊. Comfort tires of any variant. Just remember tire wear is high, so the softer the compound, the quicker the wear

No restrictions for Brands Hatch.

Yes, Eastern time. But it's 5:15 Eastern time, my apologies for the way I worded it. 6:15 is my time (Atlantic). So, just over an hour from now.

No PP limit

No limit on engines. My goal is to drive for fun more than just to win in this series. Obviously we are all trying to win, but drive things you want to drive, not necessarily the best. There are no prizes for winning😊.

Understood, thank you! I actually tested and prepared cars before but I won't be able to join at that time, sorry. I'll still follow this thread because I definitely want to join in the future! Have fun racing!

Thanks for the races guys, good fun and sorry for the bump-offs.
Thanks for organising it Benny, good work.
Hope to be able to join again.
Nice having you join. 👍 No worries about bump-offs. They are bound to happen with some of the laggy bits.

great races today! glad i didnt block the pit lane for more than one driver in race one when i smashed the pit 'sign' (sorry @PapaGnr ... you very deftly avoided me, somehow). race 2 i feel a little bad about - i saw that 2x4 and wanted to see if the old honda could cope (it did, too well). agreed on making it 'road' cars, or even slightly raising the weight above whatever those two cars are. @Benny44 you were much faster in that Carrozata than i was, i'm not sure i could've kept that pace!

My pics of todays races. Great fun but somehow we still get spread out. We may have to resort to boost to keep everyone closer ?

race 1 was somewhat close between the drivers on comfort tires, right? and I think a race car ban on low weight races would eliminate outliers.
You're right, the races were close for some of us, but others got left behind. Boost might help the back markers get closer to the front. No matter what we do, there's always 1 rabbit we gotta chase. ;)

That was great fun and thank you to everyone for joining. And for the pics.

The second race was an absolute disaster for me hahaha. I went off on the first turn. Then when I made my first of what should have been two pit stops, I accidentally chose CMs, which on that car slowed me down by 4-5 seconds (!!!) per lap.

So I pitted again 3 laps later because I was losing too much time. Then on my third (what should have been my second) pit stop, I somehow double tapped the button and selected no fuel. So for 3/4 of the next lap I coasted until I had to make a 4th pit stop🤣.

That is my favorite car in the game. I think I hit a 57.4 for one lap. I could've at least made it more interesting with @PapaGnr if I didn't botch my pit stops!

I feel your pain @Benny44. Double tapped a few times myself. It was close between @permaculture & me until the insane fuel mileage of his Honda Race Car got the better of me. :)

He & I were close in race 1 as well.

So, first off, I don't think I ever said thanks to @permaculture for hosting the other night. I think if it was done semi regularly you'd get a lot of people at that time slot, but that's totally up to you.

Secondly, was playing around at Northern Isles last night. I really like the minimum weight of 2500 and maximum hp of 350. There's enough power and weight there to make it a bit tricky to control. My brother in law and I did a 30 lap race for some testing. Still haven't worked out a good fuel consumption and tear wear. The 25x tire wear absolutely destroyed comfort softs with that weight/power/track combo. We were getting 4 laps🤣. And less than 20 seconds per lap. My front right tire was 100% gone!

But I'll work that out. So, 2500lbs and 350hp. If most of you would rather I switched to measuring by KG, let me know. I'm good with either. It's going to be a longer race with multiple pit stops for everyone. With such a short track, there'll always be someone nearby

maybe i will do one thursday, at the same time... i will confirm (with race specs) before. might be on call for work but i'd be at least able to host/start the races. if anyone out there in the world wide web has a specific time/day this week they would absolutely join, though, let me know. i don't mind kg/lbs, but i am trying to translate when i set up the races (and picking round KG numbers, just because).

its a weird level of frustration with the game for me right now - these lobby races are so much fun, and now i'm periodically logging in to see if anyone else is running similar races. theyre rare, though - a lot of pp max races without any tire restrictions - and i never seem to get any random stragglers when i do host an HP/weight room. the pp races without tire restrictions are absolutely silly - as we found in the difference between comfort softs / mediums alone. this game could be really great if everyone was doing lobby races with the right settings!

Allright! I'll see what car I'll use for that. I certainly wouldn't mind the switch to kg!
I'll switch next time I'm on. @PapaGnr and I may be the only two who regularly use lbs on here.

@permaculture awesome! I won't be on Thursday, at least I don't think so. Wednesday or Friday I may be. But don't go by me because I have no guarantees. It IS hard to find people. But keep at it, they'll join!

i was going to say tomorrow but was worried that was too soon! that might work better for me. and i'll probably be testing out a few of these today in lobby, feel free to join if you want!

so far i have -

high speed ring in the wet, comfort soft, 125hp max 1874lb (850kg) min - going to work out how to make it not too wet today
interlagos, sport medium, 250hp max 2149lb (975 kg) min - this one, in the 'very early dawn' setting, could be fantastic
daytona road course, sport soft, 400hp 2401lb (1089? kg) min
