Right now I'm struggling to have less than 0:54 at Brands Hatch with Clio. I'm driving as good as I can. It seems impossible.

EDIT:I was trying to drive without aids before. Now I have turned on ABS and racing line to learn when it's time to brake and my record is 53,8xx. My time doesn't appear at leaderboard for some reason.
Did you invalidate lap at all, if so it won't count. I've uploaded a video of my lap with setup at end, setup good enough for a time in the 50 second mark so might help you to improve. Changed a bit the brake balance and pressure which seemed to have helped, not using any driving aids.

Amazing. I've encountered a couple of tiny bugs, but they were so insignificant that I couldn't tell you what they were, as the game is just so incredibly good that I instantly forgot about them lol. Playing with a ds4, and took the time to properly set the controller up first, then spent some time playing around with the car set ups, and I'm in heaven after the nightmare that was tuning in gt6. Every change I made to the set up made the car better, and I didn't have to go online to find "tunes" for it or learn what tricks to use, I just used common sense and it worked!

Loving the career too. just started in superkarts, was expecting them to be ridiculous after how hard the karts were, but found, to my delight, there is more to adjust in the set up, and when I took it out on track it was silky smooth. Pretty hectic on the limit after 10 or so laps, it gets hard to stay consistently close to the limit, but mega fun!

Game is hard to play on PS4 with the current blur effect. Had to stop after 5 minutes as I was getting a headache which never happens. Very disappointing to say the least...

I just had the most fun that I have ever had in a racing game, the second race I ever did was a multi-class formula race. That was awesome and chaotic at the same time (especially qualifying and the start when I first did a race without qualifying ); with FA, FB, FC, FG, FR. and classic formulas.

So far I've encountered a few bugs, but Project Cars is great. The handling is an excellent blend between GT and Forza with more realism than both. It blows the iRacing stuff out of the water on graphics alone, not to mention physics. Once they iron out the bugs in future updates, it has the potential to be better than Gran Turismo 4.

Besides the bugs, the biggest draw back is the adaptation of the FFB. While the default settings seemed great for the 125cc karts, once I jumped into the Focus RS @ Sonoma single race, the car was impossible to drive, there was no turn in, had to fight everything on every turn, it was a disaster. So I went in and made some changes and found what would work and I clawed my way to 5th for that race.

But, as I get my head around what all the FFB is, and apply it to my cars, it will be loads of fun. And I'll just grab the updates as they come so the game will only get better from here 👍

I spent two hours playing after picking up the game today. A bulk of the time was spent in the settings menus. I'm liking everything I've seen so far. After taking the Zakspeed around Bathurst at dawn I came away with 3 conclusions:
1. Of the two cars I've driven that is by far my favorite.
2. Damn, is morning pretty.
3. The guys that drove those cars must have been three kinds of crazy.

Just got the digital download today for PS4.I'm using the DS4 since my DFGT wheel is not compatible.I am 66 yrs old and have played racing games on the computer since computer racing started, I switched to a PS3 a couple of years ago cause I got tired of computer upgrades.Played Gran Turismo for the last couple of years and loved it but got bored with it.Couldn't wait for Project Cars.I traded in the PS3 for a PS4.
I think Project Cars is awesome.Driving the old Lotus reminds so much of Grand Prix Legends.

I didn't plan on buying this right away, but the T300RS was 10% off on Amazon today and I caved on the wheel. Then I picked up PCARS on my way home from work. I did some free practice in the Formula A on Spa with the Dual Shock and it was pretty satisfying, so I can't wait for my wheel to arrive. Also, with all assists off, the Formula A was still surprisingly drivable with the controller, seems even easier than F1 2014 with the wheel.

Very broken....sounds are glitchy, controls are far from polished...graphics are good but not incredible. I actually thought the game was broken too since I had no idea how or why I was thrown into an LMP car out of nowhere but wasn't able to change anything. Then after I quit the race I was able to change the amount of AI and laps. After I quit out of that I finally was able to try different cars and tracks. I'm hoping this is the first few hours that will change greatly into something better soon.

Great so far...multi player could be fun but it appears the same Driveclub idiots bought this game. They dont brake they try to take you out. Shame really.

Which options?

Pretty much every option; control settings and controller button layout, audio, graphics and visual effects, force feedback, assists, etc. They are only accessible from the main menu. I think the only option you can adjust on track is the HUD layout.

Another thing that's really weird is that if you have the option for driver and wheel in cockpit view set to not visible, the wheel will still be visible in the Formula A cars (possibly all Formula cars, but I only tried Formula A). But while the wheel is visible, it won't rotate while steering. It's just sitting there static all the time. I don't know if it's done that way on purpose because you need to see the readouts on the display on the wheel, because if the wheel is gone you won't be able to see your speed, rpm, etc.

Am I crazy to have bought the disc and then the day 1 digital? I was hoping to start the download last night at midnight and cancel my pre-order at Best Buy, but that didn't happen and I took the day off of work to play the game. And I can't waste a day off from work, right?

I did have to uninstall the 'disc' version of the game, then download and install the digital one. Of course, I already installed the Modified Car Pack, so we'll see if that sticks with my PSN account, or gets removed when I uninstalled the disc version.

EDIT: I installed the digital version over night and redownloaded the modified and limited edition car packs. So I guess if you want the LE version that the UK has, just pre-order a disc and then buy the digital  But it did keep and automatically load my game save, config settings, etc from PSN, so thats nice.

It was done for that exact reason.

What games allow you to do those things on the track? As far as I recall, in GT, other than assists, all the rest is not controllable once you enter a track, why would this game be any different? FFB on a per car basis is controllable in PCars from the tuning menu at the track and the HUD is also changeable at the track. The Formula A steering wheel is probably left there for the reasons you stated. Makes sense doesn't it? Wouldn't you rather have that than numbers just placed on the screen.

You started playing when the game was still installing, then this happens apparently.

Actually i was expecting some more customization in the pause menu too. I know most games don't allow that but that's why we had WMD no? :D At least graphics and sound options would have been handy so you could compare settings immediately.

Haven't really driven it myself, but the Focus is generally considered to be the black sheep of the PCARS family handling wise. I've heard many people complain about that car, so it might just be that the setup is all wrong and your FFB is not at fault.

I know you will love it. The only thing missing from the game is car part upgrading and customization and painting. But for a pure driving simulation on console its by far the best over GT or Forza just for racing. The car sound is ok and you can really tell the difference in some cars when the sound changes in different camera modes. I'm sure with some cars it matches Forza 5 but I'm not sure. Physics wise I enjoy PCARS more then Forza with all the things going on that I told you about.

Here is my 2nd impression of PCARS. So far I've been driving with stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes ON on every car. I decided to keep them on as I drive around Circuit De Le Sarth in an SLS AMG road car. Switched damage to Full damage, which was OFF before, switch mechanical failures to ON, tyre wear to REAL, fuel usage to REAL. Auto start engine was always ON. I have set the weather slots to 4 and set them all to random.

It was sublime lol I realize now why you have manual control of wipers and lights. The lights didn't auto switch on in FOG or cloudy after a little storm from exiting pits. So you have to switch teh wipers on if you want to see out of your window lol. I somehow thought they would auto switch on but they didn't.

I ended up crashing my SLS into the wall and my front right wheel came off LOL with quite a lot of damage to the front of the car.

So now I'm trying the same settings again in a Pagani Zonda Cinque

I left the weather slots at 4 and all to random. However this time I have changed weather progression setting to the max 30X.

The only thing I don't understand is the Time progression. I'm not sure how fast each setting speed up the time factor. Theres Real Time, 2X, 5X, 10X, 15X, 20X, 25X, 30X, 40X, 50X, 60X. So I'm trying 20X for the moment. I set the time of day to 7:00p.m. I just want to experience all the types of weather changing from clear, sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, thunderstorm, rain, fog, haze in the day and through the night. If someone has figured out how to get PCARS to do this nicely can you tell me.

Interesting.

So you think the game feels good on a controller?

Fair enough, better go tell SMS not to bother with the patch to cover the countless issues people are facing with the controls on Xbone then.......

I'm sure some of it is emperors new clothes, people refusing to accept anything but gold is in there hands, somepeople just saying its coal without really trying to wipe away the dirt to see if it is gold.... and some just accepting its in fact silver....

Wait.. what's that again? There are issues on the standard controller ONLY on X1, not PS4?

Just played for a couple of hours doing some hot laps to get a feel for the game. Just used a DS4, I'll set up my wheel in the morning. My first impressions...I'll break it down to things I like, and things I don't.

Things I don't like:
The car list...sucks...at least for now.
The menus aren't very good.
The game doesn't actually look as good as I was expecting it to.
Using a controller is oddly difficult, standard setup seems off.

Things I do like:
Easily the most realistic racing game I've ever played on a console.
Still looks great.
Sounds great.
Damage is good.

GRID Autosport and the F1 games (and probably most CM games) allowed you to adjust pretty much every option on track. I also seem to recall being able to do it in the old Simbin games like Race and GTR. It makes sense to have wheel settings be adjustable on track, because you'd be able to make an adjustment and immediately test it. Otherwise you'd have to stop the session, adjust it, go back on track to see if it's good, stop the session again if not good, make adjustments, etc. That could waste a lot of time. And more time spent between changes could mean that you forget a little bit what it felt like previously, which makes subtle adjustments more difficult. Being able to change controller layout probably wouldn't be that useful once you're used to the game, but it would be convenient when you're new.

And also even in GT, although you can't access the options on track, you can access the options in the session menu. In PCARS, you'd actually have to quit the session and exit all the way back out to the title menu.

For the steering wheel, I would rather it be not visible and the information be shown on the HUD. There are different styles of HUDs for different views. They could have just switched to the HUD for chase view, where you wouldn't be able to see the wheel anyway, and the relevant information would be on screen in the HUD. Doing it this way defeats the purpose of having the option of making it not visible in the first place.

Impressions, the game plays wonderfully. I haven't run into any glitches or bugs as of yet, the best part is I can play this with a DS4 with the out of the box settings and I literally mean out of the box, only thing I changed was button assignments for clutching to my Forza bottom trio button set up. This is a nice looking game but the visuals aren't the best there is this weird filter on everything, Forza 5 has a cleaner visual style with brighter colors as does GT6, must be an art direction thing but to my eyes it's not flattering the game's immaculate cars. Also not sure what is with the frame rate but it sure doesn't look anything like Forza 5 smooth as butter 60 fps in fact the only time it look like that is when I finish a race and you get that overhead cam that pans as the car passes the start/finish line. I hope SMS give us the option to take off that filter that makes the game remind me of Shift.
Anyway enough about the graphics, I am enjoying the sounds took the C9 out and it was glorious, I felt like I was piloting a ferocious beast that was growling and snarling the whole time. Focus is pretty grumbly too, although I'm not certain about the Z4 GT3, is that how that car sounds? That note sounds distinctly like a small block Ford V8, oh well can be fixed but it's not bad or anything just different. F1 cars are pitchy and after a while become annoying to listen to as they aren't as full of character as a throaty V8 or a bellowing V10(boy I miss the Viper right about now). I stopped playing for a little bit after running a few online races which had it's mostly fair racers and a couple of douches who just need to not play these games.

Verdict as of this writing, solid 8. Loads of options that embarrass anything out on console, small car stable missing many well known motors. Impressive audio but weird audio that sometimes plays through controller one race to be completely absent the next. The visuals are good, nothing beyond anything you've seen and the reason is that car grid count no other game comes close on consoles with such massive grid, so the trade off is worth it. It's still quite good looking, but not visually near DriveClub different goals and aims. The racing is like Driveclub in terms of Ai tenacity, I drove on 80 and it felt like DriveClub's pro setting with AI taking passing chances if you leave the room. I own the game and they are very adept and Project Car's Ai is pretty much the same just with a ton more of them which can leave you bringing up the rear in a hurry. I'll be playing this for the foreseeable future, going to have to budget time between this and Destiny HoW DLC. Still a little miffed that I have to purchase the Modified Car pack separately which is contrary to what SMS advertised the Digital Edition to contain. Lack of mods sort of leaves the road cars sort of flat as the race cars has a wealth of options to fiddle with, but I haven't dug in deep with tuning or any tuning as I tend to leave race cars stock anyway, road cars are what I tune as they are the one's with the room for much improvement, but no mods means limited vertical and more horizontal improvements.

Online needs to be decluttered, good lord what a mess of boxes and things all over the place. I'm probably too used to GT and Forza's simplistic layouts and things tucked away in their own drawers. There needs to be a brighter colors as the online section looks really dark and drab, you have to pore over the screen to find anything and there is weird lag with movement of the cursor and sometimes the cursor simply does no show up(bug?). Does qualify have a ghost set up so you can run a crash free qualifying lap?! Not much really irking me since I focus on racing more than anything else right now, and that part leaves me smiling. What I found to be incredibly useful is helmet cam, it's far better that I thought. I still default to hood cam but that has literally no peripheral view, will have to tweak some parameters on that.

This game is very good and while not the best looking game, it doesn't have to be. It's the best racing game out now period, sure it's lacking in car count but once you begin racing, you'll be saying one more race a lot more than you think. Ok back to racing, be back if I have anything else to say and I probably will.

Edit 1: Just joined a lobby already on the track qualifying, games leaves me or anyone entering after initial load stuck in garages. Facepalm. There needs to be a fix for that as that makes all the sense in the world /s. Note i got in the lobby with like 9+ minutes on the timer on a 10 minute limit.

Just freaking awesome.. (once I spent over an hour getting things set up)

This was the first racing game I ever followed sim instructions. I used the FOV calculator http://www.projectimmersion.com/fov/ - then bumped it up about 10 using the cockpit cam (not helmet) it is crazy how much this matters to the feel.

Then I used the tweak settings provided http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?24055-Universal-FFB-Settings-for-PS4-XB1-Spreadsheet - then just lowered the master scale to my liking.

I also set the assists to Real - so if the car in real life has ABS or TC, I get it otherwise no assists.

I spent over 30mins in just the BMW 320 Turbo at Laguna Seca running practice laps to get adjusted...

This morning I tried a few other cars.. and came to the Merc 190 DTM and hot lapped Sonoma .. oh man it was awesome.. then I tried my first race with this car at this track and figued I was slow so I put AI at 50.. I was winning a bit to easily but then choked hard in turn 6 - the carousel and took forever to recover and ended up in last out of 20.. haha..

Great stuff.. can't wait to get back to it.

I don't recall the AI in Driveclub making any passes at all unless you went off the track or span round. they'd happily drive behind you and then perhaps crash into you a bit. they also never really looked like they were racing each other, was more of a procession. in fact, although I had a lot of fun in the few months I played that game, I found it was more a game of passing obstacles, or mobile chicanes, than racing proper opponents. Project CARS is a breath of fresh air in that regard.

EDIT: I do now recall AI passes in DC but only as a result of the OTT drag system they put in to keep the races close.
