PD is censoring Christianity in GT Sport!!?

Well colour me shocked. I have stumbled upon this scape of a Christian church and found out that PD blurred the images of Jesus and Pope. I think censoring something so deeply embedded in history of Italy which is pretty much the hearth of Christianity is very rude. Why did they create this shot with the church in the first place just so they could censor these signs?? I don't get it and I am very sad about this.
I don't mind seeing Buddha in Asian countries or muslim signs in Arabia. It's naturally a part of the countries and a part of their culture.

What do you guys think about this?
I'm guessing they couldn't get Jesus or the Pope to sign a release to have their pictures in the game.

Likely, the reason for this may just have to do with the Church depicted there itself having some sort of copyright on those images, rather than PDI's personal opinions regarding Christianity. Artists, even if depicting religious icons and symbols, can still claim copyright on the image itself. And thus, to avoid lawsuits, many-fake Digital censored the images. It's not that big of a deal really and I wouldn't be surprised if other Scapes have things censored, even non-religious things too.

The whole pit crew in one of the 'ring scapes are blurred as well.

Are they Jesus? Maybe the Pope?

Or just maybe its been done to all the faces and its got nothing at all to do with religion?

Is it possible the artist has copyright on the images?

Bingo.

Seriously, Hinduism and Buddhism practically got mocked and sexualised in Overwatch's Symmetra and Far Cry 4 as a whole, and you're getting bent out of shape because of two blurred pictures???

Regardless of the reason for the blurred paintings, it just ruins a scape IMO. They should have just left this one out or else find a replacement. Actually I find it really weird this was blurred in the first place and not left out.

Could it be that this was not blurred in release and got blurred with the patch?

Soooooooo...................?

I for one detest religion. I don't really see that it matters at all? If anyone genuinely minds that two pictures in a computer game have been blurred then I would strongly suggest they take a very hard look at what's important in life.

If this is Christians being oppressed/censored you have it easy ffs. Enjoy your privilege
Sounds like you have some personal issues.
Additionally, in case you think a few blurred images sum up the oppression of christians in this world in various (mostly islamic) countries/regions, you're ignorant and absolutely delusional.

If your goal was to point out his personal standard of life, you shouldn't have written the first sentence in such a general form.

On the contrary, we each have different preferences. What if the issue as initially raised was true, that PD was censoring religious symbolism but only Christian symbols? To me that would be important enough to warrant discussion no matter which religious symbols they chose to single out for censorship because it would have brought PD into realm of social activism if the censorship was not uniformly applied. So we discuss it for a couple of hours here on GTP and find out it looks like they are simply blurring all faces and it has nothing to do with religion. All's well that ends well. You may not find this important but others do and minimizing their concerns by mocking their life choices isn't exactly making a great contribution to the discussion.

I do think it wasn't a good choice to include any scape with a blurred face. It's silly and totally ruins the shot anyway.

Whilst I see your point, belief systems have no place in a multicultural platform.

I'm happy to accept it's facial recognition software blurring it though.

Do people honestly care? I doubt it.

I think it's hilarious with all their artists that they couldn't get someone just to photoshop the offending people/pictures out of the shot. Not like that's real hard these days. Instead they've let a computer do the work in the way that computers do.

I think we might still be some way away from welcoming our robot overlords.

If you're going to blur something out, why include the scape to begin with? It not only ruins the shot but in this case I'm a little annoyed (probably because I'm Catholic, but we'll leave that for a different thread).
Annoyed about what?

Multicultural implies different / multi beliefs. Well, being human implies having different beliefs even during one's lifespan. But yeah, completly off topic. :)

Gee I don't know what I could possibly be annoyed with...
You're annoyed that one of your religious images is not visible in the game. On the other hand I am offended every single time ANY religious image is pushed onto me without my consent.

Wouldn't want to offend any of Merkel's new Europeans.

I guess we have different definitions of multiculturalism. I guess you object to some of the flags in GTSport as well? Union Jack? Australian Flag? Finnish Flag? Afghanistan?

I see a religious symbol connected to you every time you post. Did you constent to it? Have you contacted GTP about it being forced on you or do you just get offended every time you post?

That's ridiculous indeed. Unless the Pope and the Vatican were contacted about this and said "no, we don't want out religious symbols portrayed in a videogame".
Honestly this may be the most plausible explanation.
