PENALTY SYSTEM IS STILL A PIECE OF ****!!!

As I play on my D/S for the first time this update. I’m in the room with A/S and B/S. Last update was more balanced although it brought dirty people.

I wish there was a happy medium with matchmaking.

I finally got some racing in since the new update.

I did one race B and 2x Race C, I got served 4 contact penalties, 2 for me being punted/squeezed, 1 for hitting a guy who spun going down the mountain completely blocking the track and another in race b for the same thing, clipping a guy who was ghosted sideways across the track.

The one time I purposefully punted a guy at forest elbow for squeezing me into the wall going up the mountain I did not get a penalty and actually got him a 3 second penalty.

0 for 5 PD, back to the drawing board mates.

@Sven Jurgens help me out here. What does the game think that I did wrong in this clip?
As you can see, I was being extra nice to the guy in front of me, but the guy behind was not so nice, and used my car to help himself get around the turn. I'd like to avoid this penalty in the future, but I don't understand what the game thinks I did wrong.

My simple view is that he was behind you and collided trying to squeeze through the inside. As such I cannot see how you are to blame and yet you have incurred the points. This has happened to me so many times over the last week and the whole thing is a pile of dung at the moment. I've gone from SR S back to D this week, purely down to others hitting me. Bonkers!

There are places where it's almost impossible to pass without collision (eg going up the mountain in race C) yet the current system will allow the moron to try without the fear of penalty.

PD - please note this is NOT an enjoyable gaming experience.

I've touch NOBODY, and I got a 5s penalty !
You can see that the Mustang tried to push me but nothing happened, it's the only touch we got but it's not for that I got 5s since he didn't get out the track because the reason of the penalty is "pushed someone out of the track"

Words fail me .... incidents are tricky to find, ffwd if you need to.

The incident at the end probably was not intentional, simply a lack of awareness but that VW with the Canadian flags, drivers like that are the problem with Sport Mode. What a POS that guy was.

Another day, another ridiculous penalty. Have a look at this:

There's barely any contact, he misses his braking point and I get a 8 (!) second penalty. For basically nothing.

Just give us the no penalty patch back when it's this broken...

I see the infraction, you had the audacity to actually race him so it is clearly your fault, you made him crash, penalty deserved!!!:lol::lol:

I cannot believe I'm seeing this rubbish, clearly penalising you for doing nothing wrong. Absolutely pathetic from a game of this calibre.

And on the other side, it's not penalizing at all for punting people off at the bottom of the chase, or last and first corner (if you aim right so they don't hit the wall). I've been compensating my BS penalties with free punts to get dirty drivers off the track :embarrassed:

It's Saturday, 4 BS penalties in 3 races already, down to SR.A. It will probably be better in SR.A, SR.S is top dirty again.

LOL - 18 seconds of penalties (N.B. probably contains swearing somewhere in the video, though there isn't anything major in this particular bit):

I mean, you must understand why you got the second penalty... never touched the brake while on the grass, actually breathing on the throttle, then shot across the track onto the racing line and collected a car... Seems legit to me...
Agree the first one was insanity.

I would like to ask a question on this topic. Is the function of reporting players for dirty acts after a Daily Race its really working? Or do you know if there is any punishment after reporting?

Believe it or not for me at that time there were no penalty problems without doing anything, just about a couple of weeks ago that it started to affect me a little bit, after a Daily Race A in which a dirty driver was doing dirty maneuvers against me and he took me seriously. Anyway, i capture the race with this guy make this dirty act to me i feel so angry about this but now i am cool i prefer to be a cleam driver instead of a dirty driver, I have a reputation and most importantly RESPECT to follow, one day i gonna post this vídeo here, maybe on YouTube

It doesn't do anything, it has the functionality of a stress ball. Hopefully PD at least collects statistics from how often the report button is used after certain track/car/penalty combos, but I doubt they do even that.

Whole rooms have turned against notorious dirty drivers during the penalty absence, reporting them en masse, every race, for almost a week. Nothing was done. Even reporting them on PSN (when they are dumb enough to send you threatening messages) does nothing. You simply get the advice to block them and continue racing with them without a choice.

There is only one way to deal with bad behavior, work together to get them out.

To be able to make a system that can punish dirty players without needing a human to see all the races and apply punishments manually, the system has to be worked on and rethought so that the player can be punished for a just reason things can influence such as the lag can be a problem when applying the penalty or any mistake in the programming code of the penalty system can compromise all the action and be penalized by mistake of the system the examples that are shown in this topic or in the comments of the GT's Twitter page as a protest, it shows what the problem may be, there is probably a problem in the programming of the GTSport penalty system that the PD is finding a solution to this, but there is a delay until she sees the problem that the players are reporting, I am not defending, or anything about it i'm also seeing that this is irritating several players and i can also be a victin of this problem.

Sorry for the long post and if you got bored by my explanation, or if it doesn't make sense for you. :gtpflag:

This happened in today's Nations race. This driver rams the car in front of him, which then collides with me. We both get taken out and the perpetrator gets away with it. Meanwhile, the guy he hit got a 5 second penalty for running into me.

NO. You can act like a total mother... in the races but, heaven forbid, if you call someone that in the after-race chat. If they want to 🤬 with you, they will report you through your profile page. Sony will then personally review it and take action. I've gotten 2 Code of Conduct breach notices (the second one was 2 days ago) and two temporary account suspensions (3 and 7 days). The 7-day suspension was for writing verbatim: "If you're on a no-stopper then GTFO of the way" (I hope I can write this here) in the pre-race chat. No joke. So, as long as you don't write nasty things in the chat, you can do whatever the 🤬 you want in the races. Nothing will happen to you.

I understand, when a person exhibits a "toxic" behavior (which is a word from the gamer universe of my country where a person speaks badly of you for some reason even committing threats and virtual bullying) no one is safe from committing acts of disrespect after a race, in this case to be done and capture the race on video to show that it is the wrong one, not you, for example I try to stay calm and have the best good reputation and respect for the other, what you learn from the Sportmanship video tutorial, many people take it a lot to the contrary and be the dirtiest that doesn’t affect anything in their accounts, but if they make these mistakes in real life, it can take someone’s life (I’m saying that because it’s a level that human beings can reach, and of course we are talking about a game)

Just one for the collection.

Well, damn. If be plastering that all over PD's social media. That's wrong on so many levels. I got a 3 second penalty this morning in a race A for the calamity that engulfed me from behind. Ruined my new CRB streak. :irked:

it like they pluck random numbers from out of their arses..it’s insanity and mind boggling that PD seemingly can’t be bothered to address the issue properly

Sadly they are not random, they are based on DR. The car spinning put is at 48K, @watto79 52K, DR.A+ vs DR.A, DR.A+ 'hitting' a lower level player, 10 sec penalty.

These are posted daily on reddit and twitter, PD is both death and blind or simply doesn't care. This type of penalty has been in the game since at least August 2018. Get hit by a car spinning out (no matter why), you get a penalty.

ahh I wasn’t aware of that, my insanity accusation still stands though

Something similar happened to me in the race that just finished. The guy in front of me got on the dirt when accelerating out of turn 4, and that made him lose control of his car, and he spun right in front of me and there was no where for me to go to avoid a collision, and some how i get given a penalty.

My FIA race featured a rough driver, yeah I am certain some here would defend him, I just handed him a dose of his own medicine. He didn't back down and ended up in the litter box.

Afterwards I checked the replay, he was punting people out left and right.

He will be featured on my YT channel with his PSN name.. Such a jerk.

Send people careening to their death is A-ok! Just don't use potty words!

Here's an interesting one for you Sven. Below is a screenshot taken after qualifying and before the race where I got the penalty. The car that was spinning out that I hit/hit me was rated A+ before the race (qualified 7th). They actually later quit that race so took quite a big drop in DR putting them back down to A after the race.

With that being the case, do you think the penalty system puts S ranked drivers above A+ ranked drivers and that's why it was 10 seconds? I have to say I was surprised at the severity as I've never seen a penalty that high for a single incident before.

I doubt it, S can be any DR and I've seen B ranked S drivers getting small penalties. Those tapped by a spin out penalties are usually on the high side, for A+ it would hit the 10 sec limit much sooner. As A/S I've gotten 7 sec for those.

Anyway with the placement of the penalty zone at Laguna Seca, even the penalties that were dished out were totally ineffective tonight. The FIA races were close to unplayable in the back field. I quit one of them after getting rammed off 5 times in 2 laps. This was by far the worst evening of racing in a long time. I did still meet a few clean drivers who were a pleasure to race with, until an idiot showed up and either punted me or the car I was racing out of the way, or we got collected by a fight happening in front.

That track is terrible for multiple tire strategies. People coming out of the pit on fresh softs with others still squeezing more out of worn mediums on a track where it's very hard to pass. Then the penalty system stokes up the flames by giving the wrong car a penalty (or doing nothing) with the retaliation strike following soon after. I've dished out a few myself as well :/ It is not enjoyable anymore. Tokyo was better yesterday since the walls punished the bad drivers enough to clean up the race after the first 2 laps. Laguna Seca stayed a mess from start to end with the different pit strategies. Well lap 3, 4 and 5 were ok before the first few start pitting and barging through the field again

The penalty system debate has highlighted many shortcomings. It seems to be the consensus that most folk want nothing more than to be allowed to enjoy online racing free from the attentions of those who wish to behave badly.

Whether penalties are the way to achieve this or not is problematical.

I hold to my original concept of a facility to enable blocking of players.

Meanwhile, here is a prime example of how badly the penalty system is broken. The driver in the green Mclaren, who is apparently the Portuguese Ambassador for International Goodwill, performs a neat sideways shunt, pushing an overtaking car off the track, then goes for the mother of all divebombs on the next corner. (WHY?)

He gets NO penalty.
