Permanent damage!

Let's just wait and see...know one has ANY idea really. It could even changed depending on the type of car...Ferrari vs nissan
I'm reserving judgment as I'd like to see how it's going to work out first. If it's a more dynamic pricing determined by class (or manufacturer) and the amount of damage your car has, then that's completely reasonable. But they could've still skipped the animations though, if there are any that is.

Just just roaming the official site and noticed the cost of cars, damage, and wheels where outrageously expensive (2million for c7/ 62k in damage repairs) I hope that is all in a yen equivalent and not us dollar or euro lol.

i think the 2,000,000 next to the cars name is how much credits the player has not how much the c7 costs. where did you see the $62 000?

Under repair damage in one of the garage pictures with the land rover. That's actually probably it though. Just found it odd as they were even amounts...just screen shots I guess..rims were 4k though lol

And you quote that out of context COMPLETELY. How does that make you feel? You're more of a man's man than Clooney, aren't ya?
Yes you are! Yes you AREEE!!!!

Don't get mad at me because you didn't explain yourself well the first time.

They're not, actually. Even if they were I'm entitled to post them as long as I follow the AUP, you are not entitled to tell me to go away because my opinion doesn't match yours.

Well you don't have to use those features, I happen to believe that those details make the game unique (and Gran Turismo) and not a clone like other racers.

I love the mileage shown on cars too.. cars are a very personal thing for me, and to own them you have to take care of them like a proper petrol head would.. sooo Gran Turismo.

Have fun!!

"You don't have to use it" is a facile argument because the player has no option except to use those features if they want the best performance out of their car.

I am sure there will be an update to remove the features that annoy people the most!

I don't know if I should like it or not. Because of the following reason: After every race you have to go back to the home menu, select maintanence, select restore ride regidity and click on yes. Probably a 1 minute loading time in between each menu. So between every race (mostly around 6 minutes) I also have to spent 6 minutes to make the car regid again... On the other hand is it a realistic feature that makes you drive cleaner.

Well if people drove as they would in real life, cars would only get minor superficial damage, such as rubbing etc.. I mean, what about dirt? are people going to whinge when they have to clean the car!!

Admittedly, Sorting engine sounds, converting standards to Premiums should have been a more pressing affair..

I still believe that AI will be much improved for 6.

Not rigidity, that's another thing...

You're obviously missing the fact that not every race will have damage ON, even if it is, minor damages don't have to be fixed straight away.

im sure its not necessary to do it every race.

but i see your point.

My problem is that PD cherry picks the most cumbersome and tedious elements of real life to include in their game. We don't have realistic sounds, realistic AI, realistic rolling starts, streamlined/realistic tuning menus, realistic damage modelling or livery editors and yet we have to endure engine refreshes, oil changes and now another menu to navigate through in the form of a repair shop. These are all menus that require nothing more than mindless button pressing, and means that more of the game time spent will be in the menus, and not actually racing.

If someone elses opinion within the AUP makes you sad maybe you should go away. ;)

They do not cherry pick. They include more feature and in all department try to make it realistic but it is impossible to reach perfection however they can improve with every game.

Regarding menu options, yes it can be tedious and overwhelming to many guys who just want to get into race. I know many people will love rewind functionality like other games too. This permanent damage thing will definitely make me drive more responsibly now because I hate my car getting damage and would not like to repair it very often

The way I interpret "Body Repair" is this:
  • It costs 500 credits, which looks like a fixed amount.
  • That would indicate that this "permanent" damage is mainly just superficial and you can keep on racing with this car without repairing it, it will just be dirty and deformed.
  • It might have a bit less performance, because aerodynamics could be affected. (which is in line with the fact that you also have to change oil so as not to lose performance)

If that's the case, then there's really no point in having it and should've implemented a system similiar that is in FM4. If the price for the body repair remains static and unaffacted regardless of the amount of damage, it's really just another waste of time watching an animation.
It's just a thought I had, and thought it would make sense to avoid players having to pay amount of money to fix certain cars depending on certain prices. :P

Yes, it will pointless clicking ..... for those who crash and burn every race. Now they need to add your car burns if it gets too much damage.

There seems to be a mr. negative flu floating around, it's in almost all gt6 threads.

There. Besides the 'Restore Body Rigidity' function, there is also 'Body Repair'.

Is it my impression, or front fender is a little beaten? The door, near the fender, looks dented too.

It is indeed damage. At first glance it looks like an effect from the odd lighting, but that's not the case.

Again: I will love to keep half of my cars completely dirty and beaten up.

DEM BATTLE SCARS! :D

Plus: drift missiles incoming!

And imagine a smashed matte black 700hp Chevy Nova. Completely scary!

i know, it would be sick!

Just like there was with oil changes in GT5? No, thought not.

i enjoyed changing my oil.*
