The design and physics of the car are based around it being a flat six. I think, don't quote me, that the sound guys have not got round to finishing off the flat six sound recording.

That seems correct as the sound is way off at the moment. It's not a horrible sound, it's just inaccurate. I am completely put off using cars that sound wrong.

Do you have any example of a flat six to show? I'd like to compare, because to me, the P30 sounds are trully awesome.
Porsche 911 is the most famous. But what is easier is to look at race cars with flatplane v8s, a few are in pcars, like the m3 gt3 and I think one or two lmps. They sound very similar to the p30 and this is because the sound is a high revving flatplane v8. Some 4 cylinders sound similar too, such as the zakspeed capri, because 4 cylinders are very close to 8, like 5s and 10s, and 6s and 12s. I agree that the p30 sounds nice but the fact is it's a flat six, so the sound must go....

@Sele1981 -- See the difference here. And that video is from November.

Holy **** never realized that this game looks almost like shift and they took cars and tracks from Shift

I wish they would have started everything from scratch. Anyway, looks still like it will be the best coming game for PS4 anytime soon.

Yeah, the Zonda R and Nurburgring are in PCars only because they were in the Shift series, not like they are an iconic car or track and in most racing games that matter or anything:lol:

No they didn't. EA own all the Shift assets, everything in CARS was done from scratch. Some of the same cars and tracks are included because they're popular. The graphics on the other hand are similar because that was/is still SMS's property, their MADNESS engine.

Why would you think they look the same? The video you reference are using the same car on the same track - yes those are the same but this doesn't mean pCARS is using Shift 2 content.

The looks and the graphics are extreme similair. But as Samus said, SMS made the graphics for shift so it looks very similair. Everything is fine :)

Color tuning/tweaking phase is in the last polish stages I believe. But yeah, in general it might feel the same as to me NFS games by Criterion Games still feel like Burnout games. Or like all Codemasters games with EGO Engine have the same look/feel to them.
Again though, color tuning/tweaking phase is still to come. Plus a lot of knowledge has been gained already by the WMD community on how to improve the look of the game via SweetFX injectors (used in same fan-made screenshots as well I believe). That knowledge will than be put to use for the game's looks, and looking at the screenshots... it'll look good. ;)

Talking about how loud transmission whine can be...

BMW 320i STW of driver Rolf van Os on TT Circuit Assen
While transmission whine can get loud, on this recording it sounds like there's a high frequency resonance hitting the microphone through the mechanical structure, or the mic is placed right next to, and pointing at the transmission. The whine gets to drown out all other sound and clip. If it was that loud relative to the other sounds, at the position of the drivers ears, I don't think it would be possible for humans to sit in the cockpit ;)

That kind of realism isn't something I'd want! :ouch: Definitely needs to be toned down if that car ever makes it into P Cars.

EDIT:

Good point. 👍
