Random question, did all the US Type-R's come with that steering wheel? I think the JDM 3-spoke wheel looks a lot sportier than that one.

But, awesome awesome car nonetheless. I love it. What turbo are you upgrading to?

Looking good! 👍 I am looking forward to seeing some more updates.

thanks, Vash! Hopefully will be posting some MAJOR updates here soon.

Yep, that was the standard wheel, the JDM one definitely looks better. That is one that I'm considering, however I am looking at a personal wheel with a quick release also. Still deciding on that.

I'm going with a BorgWarner twin scroll 256-30r. It's between a 30r and a 35r.

Nice car dude. Thing is clean.

Do have any power figures with the mods?

appreciate it, silencer! Not tuned yet but I'm looking to hit 500+ when it's done. Not that I'll need that kind of power or anything but it will be nice to have :)

Those gauges are 52mm right? Electrical? Mechanical? How much, I fwiggen need some electrical 52mm for a din pod.

So you can finally show your front tyres how much you hate them. All the reason you need I think.
Once again, awesome project.

haha, true. I'm going to get some nice tires all around for the JDM 16's to sit on, but I'm going to get another pair of wheels and tires for the front that are strictly for the drag strip, they're going to be monsterous.

Niiice. Of course it'll be nice have, who wouldn't want 500+ hp? I know I wouldn't mind it.

My roommate decided to turbo his Type R also and is going to be running a turbo a bit larger than my sc61 I had initially so I'm really considering returning that turbo I just bought and getting something bigger. I can't have him one up me now can I? :)

yep, 52mm's. The standard electrical and mechanical guages from STACK are really cheap, like between $60-125 per gauge depending on which one you're looking at. The ones I'm using are the Professional Stepper Motor Analogue gauges. My boost ran me over $200 and the wideband was like $350, so after tax it came out to around $600 for the both of them. I still need to get my oil pressure one so that will tack on another $200+.

Is that the oil pressure one you are going to get? i'm prolly gonna get that and the oil temp one.

The wideband looks pretty neat tho, i'm sure i'll be wanting one of them down the line when I go with an ems.

Always wondered with turbo hondas the placement of the turbo hotside is always hecka close to the radiator. Don't you end up like melting crap around the hotside?

I envy you being able to run a large frontmount tho, i'm going a2w soon because it was either that or hack up my rear trunk.

yeah I think that's the same one I'm running. I need to find a place to mount my oil pressure but I'm not sure yet. The turbo does sit close to the radiator but I've never had any issue with the heat from it, the only thing I've done related to those two are bending some fins on the backside of the radiator trying to pull the turbo on or off the car.

here's my little car progress speedbump. Was driving to an Obama speech with a friend of mine, looking for parking when WHAM! Clipped on the driver side. Everyone was fine though, I got hit in the face with the curtain airbag that you can see in the pictures so my face is a bit marked up on the left side. The cop was cool though, he gave us a ride in his patrol car to the speech and he took a picture of us in the back of the car, really nice guy. Then we saw the paramedics that responded to our accident at the speech too, met some cool people today! Here's a couple pictures, enjoy!

and here's one of where I was standing at when he was giving his speech:

Thanks for your kind words and condolences everyone! :)

Funny story about this crash, I completely don't remember saying this though. Apparently seconds after we wrecked and I was still strapped in the car, I looked over at my coworker in the passenger seat and said "I've got another car at the house (referring to my Type R), wanna do it again??". Good to know I still have a sense of humor in clutch moments like that.

So I got a call from insurance today. The adjuster said he stopped counting after $14-15,000 in damage and just totaled it. Said it was going to be way more than that but he didn't even bother going on and adding more up, he basically said they'd have to chop the entire front half off the car and put a brand new one on the front. Apparently there was frame and motor damage!

Well there's your problem, silly.

Anyway, I estimate...$6,000. Thank god for insurance.

See above, you were WAY off ;)

 You call that a clip!

What would a crash be then!

hah, I guess it was a pretty good hit, I just don't recall it being that bad as we all walked away fine with no issue at all.

OW.

Man, that...that made me cry a little. Sorry, man.

Thanks, Jim. Sad to see her go but there's always something new on the horizon.

Damn, you're lucky he didn't have a front push bar on it!

No kidding right, I'd hate to see what something like that would do if a crumple zone on their car could do this much!

Bad omen ftw.

yeah, I've heard that a lot so far. I still am decided on my vote though! :)

Ouch. :nervous: Oh well. At least it shows how safe & sturdy BMWs can be.

It really is a safe car. I'm just glad it didn't contact around my door area as I'm sure I would be in slightly worse shape than how I came out from this one. Then again the car has airbags galore so I'd probably be fine, don't really want to test that theory though.

How fast was the guy going?? That sucks man. Good luck getting it all fixed up and perty again.

I'd say I was doing about 30 and they were between 30-40. But yeah it's done, no fixing that thing.
