Woe is me. Looks like I won't be able to make it tomorrow after all. Still getting sporadic issues with the Wi-Fi connection. Sometimes getting approx 20-22mbs download speed, other times as low as 10mbs. And that is speedtesting via the computer. And on the PS4 you can imagine what gives there as usually much lower.

Fired up the PS4 first time today to check whatever. Logged in fine via "which user...." (saw name and icon), went to PS4 settings to change Internet from wired (LAN) to Wi-Fi.... ("Easy" setup). Established Wi-Fi connection etc. Went to Settings "Test connection" and from there the drama started.
.....SSID modem = identified, Obtain IP Address = Successful, Internet Connection = Successful (initially, other times "Failed")
Playstation Network Sign-In = Failed (Cannot connect to Playstation Network within the time limit), NAT Type = Type 2, Connection Speed (Download and Upload) = Mostly Failed...Other times very low (eg: 308 kbps (Note: Not mbps).

Plus when I initially logged in there was a notification there was a Playstation System Update awaiting to be installed. Of course that went nowhere = Failed to even start downloading. (I recall seeing something saying "In order to sign in to PSN, your PS4 needs to have the latest version of the system software installed."
, so not too sure if that could be part cause or if compounded with the very low Wi-Fi speed (The modem is with the landlord on the upper/first floor of the house. My apartment is below his but of course separated by ceiling hence Internet via Wi-Fi. I believe his internet plan is 25mbs down/ 5 mbs up.

Considering options:
1. Have him run a wired connection from his modem to my apartment below (More stable connection)
OR
2. Put in my own Internet (wired) with the provider I was using prior to moving which was 60mbs down/ 30mbs up.
.......In which case will cost me more money to put out ($TT 390.00....approx $US 57.00 per month).
Now the apartment is a fairly expensive one (plus I already had to put out a bunch of money for deposit and first month rent, so brokes now) so would have really not liked to have to extend my budget further. Decisions, decisions.

That sucks man!! Feel for ya! And yeah, the PS4 won't update til you're signed in, and yeah, the connection is too slow... :irked:

Min rates for PS4 are:
3mbps Down
1mbps Up

Yeah it's a bummer. Was really looking forward to getting back on the saddle tomorrow. Guess I'll have to wait a lil bit longer. Should be sorted out soon though. Already spoke to the landlord about option 1: Wired connection from his modem. Said he'll attend to it promptly. Hoping the wired speed 25/5 approx will suffice. Other than that may need to consider Option 2: Putting in my own internet, which I prefer to avoid due to the additional cost per month.
BTW, I edited my post about my previous internet speed. Should have been 60mbs down/ 30up and not 30down/60up. Now corrected.

Well here's an update. I'm all settled in my new apartment and got internet tonight.
The landlord supplies internet and cable to his tenants. The thing is I've found the internet is very slow. I did a speed test and got 22-24 mbs download and 5 mbs upload which is much slower than I was accustomed to. And I'm getting internet via WiFi. Lord it's slow like ass. I think he has the lowest package. I don't know how I'll make out for online gaming with that speed.
Damn man. That should always be a priority when looking for a place to live. (Good internet). If you can get that option. But I've been there, take or leave it, I need a roof now.
One time at band camp. I let Verizon sale me on this little square box hot spot. Stuck in a contract and my speeds were only a little better. Couldn't see other players on track kinda thing. Sorry bud, dont have a meme for you're screwed when gaming online. You have to have a wire.

Whoops I was late. Handle it brother.

Weather will be:

Race 1 - Light rain / light rain / Heavy clouds / med clouds

Race 2 - med clouds / med clouds / clear / clear

I was just messing with 'ya. Bored here at work and it's raining like nuts here... I can't drive that car there to save my life - don't matter what the weather... looking forward to it though (masochist, I guess).

Sucker for punishment.

Just finished watching Alex stream of Race 1 in rain. That race was real kicksy boy. LOL.
Shoulda stuck with the rain tyres with 8 or so mins to go Alex. Must have wanted to kick yourself for changing to slicks.
Good fun watching.

If anyone is on later this evening, I'm gonna try and do a little practice around Snetterton, the next track up, to get used to the track/car combo.

:P btw, if anyone is wondering - MotoGP 19 is fantastic. Limited play last night, but a big improvement over 18 (which was really good).

Anyway, if you see me on, please shoot me an invite. 👍

Taking slicks was a huge mistake for me. I should have stayed on the old wets.

Hear'ya @Alex ONeill , I mistakenly left the wets on my setup to start race two - went to pit right before the caution and put slicks on. . . who would've guessed that would have been a mistake on a dry track with sunshine ?? Car was running great with the wets in the dry and only had about 20% wear on them when I pitted - wished I would've just left them on or pitted for a new set of rain tires.:lol::lol:

anyway, I'll just leave this here:

Thought I was going to hate this series, but it has been great so far !!

On a different note, what kind of specs do I need for a PC to run PCars 2, ACC, and Rfactor 2?? Asking for a friend. :mischievous: ;)
