I am back for season 2. I'll use the Porsche Cayman( yellow with red stripes). I think it's # 959.

Let's see a night race this season! During practice yesterday, we saw how the time of day has quite a big difference on how much performance the track really has to offer. It'll be great to take advantage of that and create a variety of different scenarios this season, to really test our variety of cars out.

Anybody want to run a practice race @ Zolder tomorrow evening?

from Doug 914 , car physics and AI,
Great Post, and yes we modeled these modern slicks exactly as they are in real life. Softs are rarely faster than Hards because with the rubber tech nowadays the fastest compound is the one that matches the heat conditions. That means unless it's really cold ambient temps, the Hards are the ones to use.

I'm no engineer by any measure but this seems to go against conventional wisdom for me, and that conventional wisdom tells me that softer rubber warm up faster than harder rubber, wear much quicker than harder rubber, and the end product is a more solid contact patch with the road/track resulting in more overall grip for a shorter duration. I mean, we're at a point now where in Formula 1 teams barely even show up with anything harder than a Medium compound anymore, listed all the way down to Ultrasoft, and I've yet to see anyone in Formula 1 qualify on anything harder than a Supersoft in the past couple of years. My guess is this theory isn't necessarily applicable for sportcar racing/road car applications? Or Pirelli is just incredibly loose ended when they refer to "soft" tires? I won't deny though that the Hards in PCars 2 are much more usable now than in PCars 1, I used them on my one and only race in the Huracan Corsa and set my fastest lap on them, but to claim outright that softs are rarely faster than hards seems a bit, out in left field...

Let me know what the average lap time is around Zolder so I can post the # of laps we will be running.

Thanks guys!
