There is still a chance cell will be for PS4's. The other rumours for other makes may still be true but for Sony to use as part of their new online game streaming service where no console is provided. Where they will play PC type code games on massive servers. Just a thought.

I don't see a reason why replace it (other than lowering costs) as it's still a capable CPU by today's standards!

I doubt devs will miss the Cell too much.

More power for less money, with a more common architecture, which should be easier on the developers... A total nobrainer, imho.

iirc, it was all but confirmed they would be ditching Cell for the next gen.

No they don't. Devs, Publisher don't want the Cell.

And i see many reasons to replace it.

For example
- difficult to develop
- bad Third Party Ports

and many others.

CELL, No CELL. dont think it would be to big a deal as nxtbox and PC dont use it so less work but if it does use one then there already used to it.
And for everyone that says the PS4 will cost less at retail, PSVita wasn't cheap but for me was worth it, Just wish games came thick and fast, but buy ps3 game and get vita game as free dlc is a bonus. Nothing stopping sony putting out a £500 console and keeping PS3 Super slim on the market at £250. Then Dropping price of PS4 the year after.

Im not sure I agree with mouse and keyboard support will have to think about it a little.

I can see the appeal when needing to enter text or move menus quicker.

I was thinking more for gaming

My daughter uses her bluetooth keyboard we bought her for her tablet on the ps3 in my living room and i am pretty sure a bluetooth mouse will work in browser already... i dont know tho as i dont use the browser at all.

If the PS4 doesn't have Cell, then PS3 backwards-compatibility is pretty much out of the question.

So... PS4 won't have Cell.

They probably gonna do this through the cloudservice, probably going to have the ps3 games there so you can play them over the net. Perhaps an authorization if you have the game by inserting the disc will give you access for free.

They more than likely wont be doing this through a cloud service too many potential customers dont have the bandwidth.

Remember they need time to integrate this into sony systems and this still doesnt address the lack of internet speeds in certain countries nor does it say its coming to ps4.

PS4 will most likely have a ten year shelf life (unless they provide a complete switch to the cloud for users).

So do I think within 10 years they will have utilized their $380 million dollar purchase? I would be a fool not to.

While earlier rumors by some sites claimed that only PS2 games would initially be streamed, or only PC-compatible games, the following images (taken from Gaikai’s redesigned site) show otherwise. In pictures we can see Mass Effect 3, Killzone 2/3, Metal Gear Rising, Modern Warfare, Uncharted 2, inFamous 2 and LittleBigPlanet, as well as the PS2 games God of War 2 and Killzone 1 (both of which are also on PS3).

I didnt say they wouldnt in the ten year timeframe.

But as it stands broadband speeds prohibit this working effectively so I doubt it will be a feature at launch but you have a good point it could come during the ps4 lifetime given development time and the worlds internet services improving.

Not to mention they need a huge network infrastructure themselves. Gaikai were still pretty small when Sony bought them and would have been serving a few hundred thousand people at most. If Sony brought cloud gaming to their next console in any form they're going to need a huge infrastructure to not cripple under the pressure of millions of people using it at any time. I highly doubt they do have that in place already and even once they do you can be sure you'll have to pay for it.

Thanks Simon another good point upgrading servers and preparing for it takes time.

At this stage cloud gaming isnt viable until preparations are made for the servers to handle it and when broadband is at a point to handle its requirements.

Who is lying? My opinion at first was it wont be coming at all then you posted and then I had another think on it and thought maybe in ps4 lifetime so you convinced me it could come in the ps4s lifetime.

Sony bought Gaikai. They can deliver PS3 games and earn extra money witht it.

I think PS4 will only play PS4 games and might use Gaikai for PS3.

Ergo, Disney buying Sony confirmed. Thus:

• Disney will totally milk the Playstation brand and make it meaningless, because Sony totally hasn't done that before.
• Disney will totally fire all of the talented people currently working there and make the future output a joke.
• PS4 officially more Princess Friendly than Wii-U.
• Sony will lose the rights to the Spiderman movies!

At least, I'm assuming this will happen. Seems to be the case based on recent reactions to other things.
