No I think he is just stupid.

Probably thinks the same thing about 30 fps, or 60 fps.

Never heard anything about 1080p though. Is that the new cool fact going around now?

You seriously thought that I think we see in pixels? And then to top it off I believe we see the same as High Definition tv's 1920X1080? Serious crowd in here.

Well the context of your post was misleading. You may not realize this but it's hard to tell a joke from a serious post online. Your post seemed to believe the lady in the DMV office that your eyes were 1080i.

Really? That post couldn't be more obvious as a sarcastic joke.

No one said anything about you...

The post you quoted from Simon referenced mine. I saw later that you were referring to a different part of his quote.👍

Also just be clear with what I was saying, I of course didn't mean that 1080p is a set vision level that you can see or not see at certain screen sizes/distances. What I meant was that if you have a TV set that is either very small or very far away or both you won't see the full benefit of 1080p over 720p. Not that you can sit and watch it and 1080p suddenly 'pops' into clarity as you get closer/bigger or something.

What you need is to start gathering cash for new playstation, call it ps4 or whatever orbis you like it 👍 :)

I'm starting now

Unless GT6 is just knock your socks off can't live without it I will probably pass. Rather put that money towards other endeavors.

I will live vicariously though you all though :, (

Interesting that you mentioned that I was thinking today that I was more excited about project cars than I am about gt6.

This mind you makes me sad about where gt6 is going

I am excited as well. I kind of have to limit myself and download it once every several weeks and avoid the WMD forums all together.
I don't want it to end up like "okay pCARS has just been released; I've been playing for the past year and more.... When's the next one?" lol.

I love seeing it developed, but hate that it is somewhat ruining that "wow" moment.

Hoping this is news worthy, not double fact checked btw.

1080p 60fps, a good start, but untill I hear 3,4,6,8GB of VRAM, I won't be totally assured, and 16GB of system ram could easily become little, but its an acceptable margin if released next year, especially if it's affordable, like this claims its aiming to be (hopefully not just compared to the $1000 PS3 launch price).

You don't need anything near 4,6,8 gb of Vram for 1920x1080.

2, sure. 3 by end if life okay; less if cloud computing is their true successor to next gen. 4,6,8 maybe in 10 years at a much higher resolution but there would be no point in providing that much because you don't have enough processing power to utilize it. It's wasted space and money.

GPU will matter more than ram, it is safe to assume it wont have less than 2GB of ram and expect to last 10 years..

Vram is the memory the GPU uses....

System ram doesn't really matter. 4/8 GB which are the rumored amounts are plenty.

8GB is more than enough for a game console, just look what they are currently doing with 256MB system RAM. 8GB is 32 times that.

Yes, I'd really like to see atleast 3-4GB of VRAM, more would be better, especially if they're going to be stupid enough to do another (planned) '10 year release cycle', especially since its worked so well with the PS3 *cough* Not at all *cough*. But I'm hoping despite it being excellent, being realistic, a 4-5 year release cycle seems about right for consoles.

Lets not confuse release cycle with life cycle..... Sony has done well carrying multiple consoles, Microsoft and Nintendo not so much the previous generation.

Many are too fixated on PC tech to see it this way as I do.

You don't need all of that VRAM (Or rather, it won't be of any use) if the GPU itself isn't super high end, which it isn't going to be. Hence why you only get 3GB or more on the 79xx range. It'd be pretty pointless on a HD7670, you wouldn't use it.

Compared to whats in the PS3 now its going to be much more powerful than the RSX. My old PC has a 7800GTX(same as the RSX) and can't run games like the PS3 can at similar resolution and less ram.

The optimization will be far Superior than what it can do for PC's.

You know that's a good point, but I'm really hopeful that what we'll see is something that can slaughter any PC graphics cards, well and truely for atleast a year. In the past the graphics of consoles were above, then on par, then for the majority of the time, be behind PCs, but if they started behind this time it would be a real shame and definately limit its life span (as their PS3 specs have... the only way they wouldn't is for Playstation to be stubborn and refuse not to stick to their 10 year dates).

Besides, AMD have the flexibility to really push their technology to the limit, because they won't (imo) really be competing with themselves much, in terms of their PC market concerns, it may have impacts initially, but after a while things should go back to normal in the PC market.

Sorry to say you're in a dreamworld.
