Im surprised Dark Souls 2 wasn't release on PS4. Mine comes some time next week, keeping the PS3 hooked up as well for similar reasons.

Mine too supposedly, not holding my breath though to be honest.

Did you find a lot of retailers were asking for pre-orders for 2014? A lot of the EB games in my area weren't taking any more orders for 2013. It certainly hyped sales up.

Everywhere I called said that they could only fill orders in 2014. This was a few months back mind you.
In the end I went the lazy option and just ordered it online from Harvey Norman (lazy meaning it's the closest physical store to me) expecting to get it some time in early 2014.
Anyway on release day I called the store in the off chance some people cancelled their order and I was bumped up the list. The guy told me I was number 33 on the list and they received 9 PS4's, this is a large HN by the way so I was surprised they could only get that many.

After a chat with the guy on the phone he told me he was very confident of filling all their orders prior to Xmas and actually gave me a date that I would get mine, 18th Dec.
Still I'm not getting my hopes up and if it happens it happens. đź‘Ť

After visiting a few stores a JB Hi-Fi in the city told me that they were doing pre-orders for Dec 18th as well. The only thing really stopping me from being really excited is the lack of release titles.

Yeah apart from BF4 there isn't too much that interests me neither hence I wont be too disappointed if I have to wait a bit longer.
My kids might not see it that way though which makes me glad I didn't specify to them when I was going to get one.
I'm kinda thinking that if I do get it before Xmas I wont bring it out until the day and it can be a combined present for my two boys and myself also. Although that theory will probably go out the window when/if I have the box in my hands.

My small local gameshop now has a waiting list until March 2014.
On 29 November it received 81 of 183 pre orders...
Funny thing is that there is PS4 advertising on TV and newspaper, but no PS4's to be found.
Hope you guys have more luck!

I've had two PS4's one had the dreaded HDMI problem and they sent me a brand new one that has not had any issues at all. It's ironic though that I have been playing the downloadable titles more than anything else, Resogun, Contrast and Warframe are all pretty interesting and entertaining games!

Just got my PS4 Killzone Edition today.

And i've just finished putting in up and just browsing the menu's while it's downloading a update.

My brother went searching for a PlayStation 4 yesterday and actually found one. He called every GameStop, Target, Costco, WalMart, Best Buy and any other electronic store we have in our area. After about 2 or 3 hours of calling places he found a hole in the wall store that had 5 PS4 systems left so he drove the hour and 15 minutes or so to pick it up.

Funnily enough over half of the stores he called said they had Xbox One systems in stock and they all tried to sell him one of those. That is awesome news for me because hopefully that means it will be easy to find one in a few months when I plan on making a purchase.

My PS4 has been 100% trouble free. It has never had a freeze and all the games (even Battlefield 4 lately) have been running flawlessly. It may not seem like it but these new consoles are a huge step up from the 360 and PS3.

I agree, the speed at which you can move from a game to the Playstation Store and then back to the game from where you last left off, all while downloading a 15 Gb+ game is very impressive after playing the PS3 for years đź‘Ť.
That process would have taken a few minutes with the PS3, plus you wouldn't be able to resume the game from where you left it AND the 15 Gb download would be paused whilst playing the game.

My nephew that missed out on a PS4 during the Australian release (Nov 29th) just managed to get one as Big W stores just got their second batch in. They were very cautious handing it over even requiring ID.

Yeah apparently a big delivery was made yesterday as I got a call from Harvey Norman and picked mine up last night.

I can confirm the second batch has arrived. Received my text message from JB HiFi saying I can come and pick it up. Only allowed a 4 day holding period though, there still must be a lot of orders for them.

The guy at HN said I had 48hrs to pick mine up.
Upon inquiring he told me they would just fill their second wave of orders with none left for the shelves.
He seemed to think they wouldn't get any more until about March.

Looks like there is going to be a lot of dissapointed gamers and kids at Christmas.

Anyway I might get a chance to give it a decent go tonight after setting it up last night and downloading BF4 overnight.

Nice to see you guys getting yours. Anyone getting theirs in 2013 is lucky.

Question for you guys that have had yours for a while.
What's the best kid friendly (8 & 11 year old boys) game available at the moment?
Also is the camera a worthy purchase currently.

Lego: Marvel Super Heroes and Knack would be a good choice for kids. Angry Bids: Star Wars, Just Dance 2014 and Doki Doki Universe could be good for kids as well though I haven't played them.

PS4 has advantage in power efficiency, consumes less power.

The PS4 consumes more power than the Xbox One in every mode except Connected Standby, where the Xbox One chews threw 18W compared to Sony’s 8.8W. Since both consoles are expected to spend much of their time in this mode, the Xbox One ends up actually using more electricity than Sony’s system. In other words, the PS4′s higher performance and power consumption in gaming is more than offset.

I've read several articles saying It looks like the Xbox one isn't using dedicated servers for all games like they claimed before release.

Does anyone know if any ps4 games are using dedicated servers?

Also I thought battlefield was always dedicated servers on all consoles. The stories I read both claimed forza 5 is the only one using them but doesn't battlefield use dedicated servers on the Xbox?
