Question for you guys that have had yours for a while.
What's the best kid friendly (8 & 11 year old boys) game available at the moment?
Also is the camera a worthy purchase currently.

I would also suggest Minecraft once it's released. Im not sure if it's co-op but if they get some 1 player time they can be busy for hours.

Yes Minecraft is co-op. Currently on the 360 it is up to 8 player co-op. I wonder how many the PS4 and X1 will allow on Minecraft?

If anyone is interested in having another friend on their PSN, my username is AmazeCRAZE. Currently on the PS4 I'm playing:

Resogun
Battlefield 4
Killzone Shadow Fall
Need for Speed: Rivals

Also I'm actively playing on the PS3:
GTA V
Gran Turismo 6
The Last of Us
(I have more but those three are all I really play right now)

Is there any news on the backwards compatibility of PS4? I've been searching for it, and I have found no answer to the question whether there is a legal way for PS3 game discs to work on the PS4. Is there one?
I've been itching to buy the PS4, but I'm not interested in any of the PS4 games currently available. Neither do I want to buy the PS3, as I know the PS3's life cycle is coming to an end, and most of the games released in the future will be using PS4 as the running platform instead of the PS3. Most of the games I own are PS3 game discs, the PS3 I originally owned had a YLOD, and I threw it away almost 10 months ago...

Sony has a cloud service that eventually they will be able to stream all PS games from every gen. At least that's their hopes. As far as playing ps3 games the answer is no. It'll be awhile if ever we get to use the streaming service for older games.

Alright then, thanks for the reply.

Is there anything about when headsets for the PS3 will work on PS4? Very irritating that it doesn't at the moment :ouch:
There are many of them that do. I've been using the same one since socom 2 on ps2.

If you're talking about the Sony branded headsets, The product director of the Sony branded headsets (like the PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset) said an update would be available very soon after launch in a tweet and it is confirmed by the official PS4 FAQ from Sony that an update will enable their support. It's expected in early january.

Will Wireless Stereo Headset and PULSE wireless stereo headset, which are currently sold for the PS3 system, work on the PS4 system at launch? What about other wireless headsets?
The PS4 system will support the Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset and Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset following an upcoming PS4 system software update. Existing wireless headsets from third-party companies that use a Bluetooth connection will not be supported on the PS4 system, though most existing headsets that connect via USB will be supported following PS4 system software update 1.50.

I assume a lot since BF4 can do that too. Had a lot of fun on the Xbox playing Minecraft and even tried out the Pc version (and GTP server). I really hope Minecraft for the next gen console is more like the Pc version because this one was pretty simple. Had a lot of fun and can't remember the last time I played a game with friends on the couch for over 12 hours straight  so addicitive!

Just got my PS4 today for Christmas and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Been working through Call of Duty and started on NFS: Rivals.
I've activated my 90 day PS+ subscription and downloaded Killzone and hope to start that at some point.

A quick first impression:
The XMB is really nice, the console runs smoothly and allows you to have a lot of freedom. The controller is amazing, absolutely love it. Overall the console is great and well worth the purchase.

Couple of things i'm not liking that may be patched;
You can't edit your comment on your PSN (Unless I haven't found this or it's become redundant)
Upon turning on my PS3 my TV would turn on automatically (TV is sony brand) and the remote worked as a 'controller' for the PS3 system. The remote isn't working on the PS4 currently and my TV no longer turns on upon booting. (I may have to find out how to set it up manually if it's an option now).

I only have Warframe at the moment, kind of sucks being Australian and playing a game with only online capabilities. If there's any Aussies/New Zealanders that have a PS4 and Warframe feel free to add me: Sweet-Shoogar. I'll gladly team up with some of you and learn the game some more.

Also, does anyone know the release date for the YouTube app for the PS4?

That my friend is HDMI control. You can turn this off in the settings on your PS4 and TV. It's sodding annoying.

Got a PS4, but it randomly decides to turn itself off no matter what's running.
There's no beep, no light, no slow shutdown, it simply goes black as if somebody would pull the power cable... truly awesome...

I heard they have a few consoles for replacement left in their store, still a bit hope.

Can anyone shed some light ontv compatiblity? I am confused as to why some tvs just flat out do not work with the ps4 ( yes hdmi tvs)

What models have you seen it not work on? maybe we could look up the specs and know why.

Just doing some research before i pick one up. A friends samsung wont read the ps4 but another tv in his house works fine. On the samsung he has tried all 4 hdmi ports ( which work with his ps3, cable box and other devices) and multiple hdmi cables.
Scanning around online, it seems to be a minority who have the issue, but there are many reports of it.
Most have been able to fix it with a tv firmware update, which is what sony says to do, but i was curious if anyone knew what was missing from older tv firmware to cause the issue.

The main tv in my house is 65 mitsu dlp from 2008, it does have usb ports so i know if i have problems i can uploD a newer firmware into it. The other tv which is what i generally play on is a 46 sanyo thats 2 years old. My main concern is the mitsu because i will need to be able to hook the ps4 to that for my wife and daughter to use.

Cool, thanks for that. I personally like it, but my TV doesn't have a signal, so it's only used for gaming. I can see where it would be annoying in other instances.

EDIT: Does anyone else's PS4 click once when you turn it on? It could be mine checking for a disc since there isn't one in it, just curious.

My friend bought a PS4 and he was happy enough with it until he realised he can't play his collection of 3D movies, or music on it.
Does anyone know if this is something that's just not been added yet, or is this really the way the PS4 is going to stay?

He just assumed the PS4 would do everything the PS3 could do and sold his PS3. He's going to sell it and I'll help him build a PC that can do everything he wants, if Sony aren't planing to change this.

Is this shutting down whilst you are actually doing something? I ask this as the shut-down mode is quite brief by default. I found I had to set the sleep/shut-down times to an hour instead of 20 minutes.

Sony are looking into the MP3 side of things, though I'm not sure about CDs. Not sure when either, but they did say they have the tech guys looking at it.

My Samsung works just fine! Have a 46 inch one in my game room, that my PS4 is hooked upto!

It's definitely not the power saving feature.

The console turns off as if someone would be pulling the power cable, and yes, while being actively using the system.
It is not the cable and it definitely is not the electricity. Had 3 HDDs in it so this can't be the problem.
Application doesn't matter either, it turns off anyway after a random time. Sometimes a few seconds after turning it on, sometimes up to 20min.

Corrupted already a gamesave and gamedata, that's never on earth a regular shutdown. There's also no beeping or light, it simply goes dark (EDIT: the console)...

It is a crappy unit, no doubt.

EDIT: Gave it back, waiting for replacement...

Driveclub man.

This thing is a pretty piece of appliance, but that thing needs to be out ASAP, could have sold thousands of PS4s.
I got the impression they sold all they had as it was - but agreed, DriveClub will be welcome when it arrives and it will sell more systems.

Whoa that would be terrible. Hopefully that gets resolved. I also assumed all the 3d movies would work.
