I found "The Gamer's Lounge" claustrophobic. All of the exits lead to a blank looking corridor. There are seats facing an empty room behind a wall of glass -- they just need a chair in the middle to turn the thing into an interrogation room. Some background music would be lovely, but I only had the sound of the bubble machines to keep me sane.

It's a nice start, but they really need more decoration. A Sonic statue and a big TV would go a long way.

As for my friend's list, potatobreath is at the top of the list with a time of 53:54, but GT4genius is close behind with a time of 57:66. 👍

 Since when was a gap of over 4 seconds 'close'??

Would love to be able to go on now and see the new stuff and try my luck at the competitions but I've no PSN until May. :(

When are the winners to the PSP competition suppose to be announced?

Digital-Nitrate - did you receive my pm about PSN content? If so, I'd be inerested to hear what you thought (in a pm, don't wish to derail this thread) ...

Geez... more exclusive content for Euro Home users... (but they won't want to talk about that when they complain how they are always being left out I bet) ;)

I'm trying to figure out why Europe is getting all the cool Watchmen stuff. Sure, Alan Moore is from England, but he's crazy.

Besides, the movie is being made in America, the story is based mostly in America, and I am going to a midnight showing of a movie for the first time ever.

Sounds to me like I should get this stuff.

I'm not complaining about the EU home (but I know many do) we have by far and away the best movie area in home and now we get all the lovely Watchmen stuff (we deserve it because Alan Moore is crazy - hell we should all get it - fingers crossed the US gets this stuff as well).

Damn... I was hoping for a proper release as they're seems to be a lot of mixed opinions on Home and I don't want to try something that's half finished.
It's free. What do you have to lose?

And this is coming from someone who doesn't like it because I am not a fan of social networking stuff.

curious to know too how long beta will last. I want to see a full version. i've been on and off home a few times this past week. It has it's moments but so far, i spend most of the time just staring at the screen waiting for something to happen. I like the create a club feature though. I'm thinking of starting a GT5 Club based from Home.

I think Home will stay in Beta till at least the end of this year. Im just glad we have the opportunity to use it whilst its all being built up. Yes its still lacking in many areas but something is better than nothing.

Robin.

What the? I am confused, so every other PS Home account in the world has some sort of exlcusive content and AU gets nothing?

By the way, I went on Home today for the first time in at least a month or 2. The only additons I seen were Red Bull Air Race and FARCRY rooms (which I guess aren't worth downloading if I don't have the game?). My Air Race time is 51sec.:) I also seen some of my furniture still goes missing.:grumpy:

Huh? Can you be more specific?

AU is among the same group of regions that make up the EU PSN... and so NO, AU/EU in fact has had and continues to have exclusive Home content missing from NA, JP, and Asian versions of Home.

You missed the VERY impressive PlayStation Events space... which I have still not heard why it was taken down.

The theater space has had updated content and there have also been a few Home event scavenger hunts and contests.

(which I guess aren't worth downloading if I don't have the game?).

It's a space (two actually), and if the spaces have no appeal to you, I suppose you might want to visit it if you want to play Mancala with others in Home.

I also seen some of my furniture still goes missing.:grumpy:

If you really have not been on in a month or two... you may want to test that out again. Over two months ago the patio furniture, arcade cabinets, and a lamp in my personal space all kept disappearing... but since they updated it over a month ago they stopped disappearing.

Fair enough. I don't know what Mancala is, but if it's worth visting I'll download it.:) Perhaps my furniture was still missing since I was on last, and that I'd never replaced it.:dunce: I'll get back on today and replace things.:)

So what exactly have I got that's exlcusive being in Australia? Just interested.:) I suppose the Watchmen stuff isn't out yet eh?

Edit: I watched the Star Trek ad in the theatre today and that movie is looking damn good.👍 I also dropped my Air Race time to 50.02sec.:)

Would it not have been taken down so as they could remove the plaques with the hidden codes and redo the room with the PSP competition, possibly with a completely different competition or game?

Maybe... but it seems so odd. Has there been any discussion about it in the official PS Home forums and/or EU PS forums?

Speaking of new spaces though, EA showed off their upcoming EA Sports Complex space at a recent event in New York.

Here is a preview of it:

A Tour Through The Surprisingly Impressive EA Sports ‘PlayStation Home’ Space
Posted on 2/19/09 by Stephen Totilo

One of the most impressive piece of software I tried at a recent EA event wasn’t a game — it was EA’s smartly designed sports hangout for the PlayStation 3.

Before or after gaming event in New York, I often contact other Manhattan-based reporters to discuss which games at the event are must-plays. Doing that is essential at events like EA’s which seldom include fewer than six games and included more than 20 at a spring line-up showcase week.

When I called a colleague to compare notes, I told him that the must-try piece of software at the EA event was EA’s PlayStation Home EA Sports Complex.

My friend thought I was kidding.

The EA Sports Complex has been shown to the world through official EA screenshots. It looks like so many game publisher Home spaces either already released or currently prototyped. It’s a high-ceilinged, fully-sponsored hangout that looks like a video game level made for brand awareness instead of intense fun.

Bemused to see such a thing made playable at the EA event in New York, I just had to try it.

The Sports Complex is an EA Sports shrine and gaming center. It is still being built, scheduled for a partial April opening. By the time it is launched, two of a planned three games will be available within it: racing and poker, with a golf game to follow.

What you see in this post is what the Sports Complex will get you, for free, through Home. But what’s hard to see is how it works. An EA rep walked me through it.

The most important thing to note for Home skeptics is that EA is trying to make boredom in this virtual place impossible. The space is designed to keep as many as 70 people busy with something, though Sony’s ‘Home’ service starts pulling people into duplicate ‘instances’ of its regions once about 50 people are in it.

The 70 or so stations are spread across the gaming activities and other hangout areas. For example, there will be eight golf stations, accommodating two groups of four people. There are three tiers of poker tables, each seating up to eight players, with slots for other ‘Home’ users to secure a spot in the next round.

The games are designed as feature attractions rather than as throwaways. The EA rep boasted to me that the poker game, for example, is as complete as the “Texas Hold’Em” game on Xbox Live, except that, through “Home,” it’s free. Doing well in poker earns players virtual money, which unlocks EA items for “Home” avatars and grants access to higher-stakes tables. TV screens hanging above the tables show who is playing and how the game is progressing, making it easy to decide if the game in session is one you want in on.

The racing game is presented as a row of arcade racing cabinets. Sitting at one produces a view of an “RC Pro-Am“-style track. The trick is that the track is rendered as part of the “Home” space, which allows other players to walk to a balcony that overlooks it and watch the player-controlled cars race around. (The balcony is designed to discourage players from stepping onto the track, in order to avoid a collision-detection disaster — but apparently it is possible in the non-final version of the space to get down there if you’re crafty).

Like the poker game, the racing game rewards skilled play. Gamers win points which they can cash in for optional speed boosts and other car add-ons. These add-ons aren’t permanent, so as to not perpetually imbalance the gameplay. Races are designed to last about two minutes, with up to four players racing at once, with staggered starts. The best time wins.

Golf was the least-finished of the games I discussed with the EA rep. The goal is for the ‘Home’ space to include a closest-to-pin competition as well as par three and par four holes.

The EA Sports space will also include a shop that sells items for real money, though the EA rep couldn’t name specific items that would be for sale. He said an EA Sports pro shop may open in Sony’s main “Home” mall as well.

In recent months, Sony reps have promoted “Home” primarily as a social space. They pitch it as a place for gamers to meet gamers. EA’s space may enable that, but in a fashion that has a more understandable potential. Say what you will about the likelihood that people will want to form bonds by loitering in a “Home” movie theater or by hanging out near a “Home” water fountain. But if EA’s space is as well-conceived as it seemed at first play, there’s a good chance people will find some new friends over games of poker and golf, games in which skill is rewarded — and where spectators may prove to be as entertained as the players themselves.

Consider this your phone call from me, everyone: if you have a PS3, check out EA’s Sports Complex in “Home” when it launches this spring.

Maybe... but it seems so odd. Has there been any discussion about it in the official PS Home forums and/or EU PS forums?

I do recall reading somewhere (and it may of been on the download screen for that space) that it was not a permanent space, but would open up from time to time as a sort of exhibition hall to promote and preview stuff.

Is there anyway way to delete rooms you have downloaded for PS Home? I downloaded a Far Cry room, and what a mistake, nothing to do at all in there. Now it's just taking up space on my hard drive.:grumpy:

Edit: The EA Game Space looks you beaut terrific.👍

If I'm not mistaken, Home reserves 3Gb no matter what, so I can see that there'd be any reason/way to do that, Paulie.

Anybody see a 'secret' ninja? I saw a few, but they were just standing around. Not very secret, to me.

I talked to two of them and they didn't have a message. I guess they weren't the actual ninjas I needed to find; but some guy looking for attention.

I heard from a different person, who was hanging around one of the fake ninjas, that the 'secret' was Warhawk coming Thursday. Huh?

Warhawk Command Center Goes Live in PlayStation Home Today!
Posted on Feb 26, 2009 by Chris Morell // Senior Specialist, Social Media

A couple days ago I visited with Incognito studio director Dylan Jobe (you know him well) about the Warhawk space that launches today in PlayStation Home. Dylan was nice enough to walk us through the Warhawk Command Center, and specifically through the Sand Table where you can lay out strategies for all Warhawk maps. It’s all really slick, and Dylan goes into some great detail about how it all works.

(click on link to see video)

Also, starting today you can purchase Warhawk for $19.99 on the PlayStation Store (that’s $10 off!) for two weeks, ending on March 11. Individual Warhawk Booster packs are dropping down to $4.99, and the Booster Combo (all three individual Booster packs) drops to $9.99. But remember, the special Warhawk pricing ends on March 11, so be quick about it!

Anyone checked it out yet?

New Street Fighter IV Virtual Items Announced
Posted on Feb 25, 2009 by Locust_Star // PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist

Hey Homelings,

Locust_Star here giving you a quick heads up about some rad going ons that will be going down in-world this week. As you may or may not know, Warhawk is getting its own game space in PlayStation Home on Thursday, February 26th. This space is a great example of the next level in Home’s development – boasting serious interactive features from tactical furniture to game launching. So on opening day we’re inviting you all out to the new space to meet new people, strategize your next attack (using the interactive sand table), launch into the game, and commence the carnage.

This event will run from dawn to dawn, so when you get out of work, class, or a well-deserved nap be sure to log in and meet up with old clan members and new teammates alike. You might even see me in there kicking some Eucadian butt (or Chernovan, depending on my mood). Look for a video walkthrough of the Warhawk Command Center with Dylan Jobe tomorrow morning!

If you were not yet aware, Capcom’s newly-released Street Fighter IV is tightly integrated with Home, offering unlockable virtual items when users perform certain actions in the game. To help you keep up with the Joneses, we’ll be dropping some hot new Street Fighter IV gear – specifically Chun Li, Ryu, Guile, and Ken costumes. So make sure you grab your favorite (and your second favorite) character’s attire if you want to hit the scene looking your sharpest. It’s a surefire way to get the attention of your fellow community members.

Does that apply to the EU for both the space and the price cut. (Not arguing that the EU get nothing, just curious, might bring my PS3 home just to get that price cut offer because its a game I've always considered getting)

BTW: Brilliant marketing for Warhawk, that games been out almost since PS3 launch and when other games of that age are slowly bowing out to newer editions, Warhawk is only just starting to hit its stride.

Anybody see a 'secret' ninja?

How about Frosty the Ninja...

Currently the Warhawk space is only available in the NA version of Home. It's pretty interesting. The information panels have helpful tips on general strategy, weapons, and such. There are also three interactive strategy maps, that allow you to display several different maps within Warhawk, and then place military units wherever you like to help strategize with fellow clan members.

NA also now has three free Resident Evil Degeneration T-shirts:
  • Claire Redfield T-shirt (male)
  • Leon Kennedy T-shirt (male)
  • g-Virus T-shirt (male & female)

And that's about all I noticed that was new for the NA version.

However, as a consolation prize , EU Home users get to enjoy the trailer for Lesbian Vampire Killers...

;)

OK... maybe that's not such a big deal... but for Watchmen fans, EU Home continues to get more exclusive Watchmen content, this time 14 (FREE) clothing items. 👍

Clothes:
  • Rorschach Hat & Mask
  • Rorschach Gloves
  • Rorschach Trenchcoat
  • Rorschach Pants
  • Rorschach Shoes
  • Nite Owl II Mask
  • Nite Owl II Gloves
  • Nite Owl II Torso Armor & Cape
  • Nite Owl II Pants
  • Nite Owl II Boots
  • Black Watchmen T-Shirt (male & female)
  • White Watchmen T-Shirt (male & female)
Movie Trailers:
  • Race to Witch Mountain
  • Lesbian Vampire Killers
  • X-Men Origins: Wolverine
  • Star Trek
  • The Boat that Rocked
Watchmen
  • BTS: Chapter 3 "Burn Baby Burn"
Hexus.TV
  • Pacemaker MP3
  • OLED Gamer Keyboard
  • JOG PS2/PS3 Controller
  • NVIDIA on 3D
  • HP Ultra Mobile Notebook
  • Antec Protype P1000 Chassis

I also checked both the Japanese and Asian Home spaces, and as far as I can tell they have had no changes other than a couple new promotional videos.

There are also three interactive strategy maps, that allow you to display several different maps within Warhawk, and then place military units wherever you like to help strategize with fellow clan members.
Can you confirm the one major complaint I have heard about these? Can someone not in the strategy group (like say an opposing clan member) watch?
I heard that and I think that if you are using Home to launch into a clan match this could defeat the benefit of these planning maps.

However, as a consolation prize , EU Home users get to enjoy the trailer for Lesbian Vampire Killers...
Time to load up Home.

OK... maybe that's not such a big deal... but for Watchmen fans, EU Home continues to get more exclusive Watchmen content, this time 14 (FREE) clothing items. 👍
Does Alan Moore have a PS3 or something? I don't get why this is only being done in the EU, unless they were trying to force him to pay attention.

OK, I understand licensing and whatnot, but I am coming from a fanboy perspective here, so bear with me on my impetuous journey of righteous annoyance.
