Pokémon Games Discussion Thread (Gotta Discuss 'Em All!)

Something random I was thinking of earlier today...you can play every generation of Pokemon on 3DS in some capacity by end of this year:

Gen 1 - Red, Blue, Yellow VC
Gen 2 - Gold, Silver VC
Gen 3 - Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire (Remakes)
Gen 4 - Diamond, Pearl and Platinum
Gen 5 - Black, White, B2, W2
Gen 6 - X and Y
Gen 7 - Sun, Moon, US, UM

That's pretty great all things considered. :D

If counting remakes then you could've already done that with Heart Gold and Soul Silver representing Gen 2.

You could have but at the prices it pulls nowadays it certainly wouldn't be cheap.

I always got them when they came out so I never realized HG and SS were so expensive nowadays.

All I want is a VC re-release of Pokemon XD, I don't want to pay an Arm and a Leg to get it.

Yeah it's crazy how expensive HG/SS is nowadays.

Varely rarely find a boxed copy for under £35 despite it's age!

You could... but the originals were better. :sly:

Disappointing that they're not also doing Crystal for the VC release.

The newest Mystery Gift is Mega Stones for the Hoenn starters, Camerupt & Banette, which you can get by entering the code "MATSUBUSA".

FINALLY, my Swampert can Mega Evolve again.

Which is great because when I transferred my Pelipper over from AS, it gained the Drizzle ability.

Guys, I'm looking for a Galvanize Geodude, Graveler or Golem.

If anyone has any lying around I will be willing to trade you. Don't care for IVs or Natures unless it is so contradictor to what they are, willing to take birth defects.

So apparently I missed the news of a Dusk form Lycanroc going to be in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon by using an event Rockruff.

Does anyone know when this supposed event is going to occur?

The way their handling Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is a bit worrying, this is the first bit of information since its announcement and we have 3 months left until it comes out.

November 17th of this year, by using existing Sun and Moon, more details on the Event should be seen in the coming months. Perhaps you're just not that up to date on your info. Because they've updated the fan base just fine, and from time to time they don't always hint at events very openly to keep it limited.

This is what happens when I decide to binge watch a long Anime series

Even still the sources I tend to use have only updated for the Dusk Form Lycanroc. What sources do you use for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon updates because I think I'm on the wrong ones?

Serebii, Bulbapedia, Redditcasualtrades and other reddit sub forums for pokemon games, and the official site Pokemon site. Serebii usually has news before anyone else because they get the CoroCoro stuff.

Also happy 1st Anniversary of the most disappointing moment of Poke Anime. You know what it is.

https://technewsspy.com/2017/09/04/game-freak-talks-pokemon-grey-upcoming-releases/

Interesting talk on why Grey never happened and possible remakes in the future.

However I don't quite agree with Masuda logic behind making B2/W2 instead of Grey, I think it was better to make sequels instead of a third version but the story/theme reason doesn't make much sense to me. I always thought Kyurem represented the concept of Wuji (the absence of Yin and Yang), the story of B2/W2 also seemed to do it anyway with Ghetsis (probably the most evil man in Pokemon games) using the Kyurem and calling it an "empty being", something a single Grey version could've done as well. Not to mention the Pokemon representing Wuji merging with the being of Yin OR Yang (as you can't do both) doesn't really fit into either concept of Yin and Yang or Wuji.

So Necrozma is just a Psychic-type Kyurem.

Also with Gumshoos, Alolan Raticate and now UB Assembly, I'm even more convince Game Freak are making political jokes

I'm guessing this is the 20th Anniversary movie? If so than yeah, the 20th movie is apparently set in a alternative universe so there are differences.

Pokemon has never been the paragon of continuity from season to season, hence pikachu being able to fight toe to toe with a latios and the another season getting bodied by a newly acquired snivy with no prior training.

True, and movies are in the worse case since some movies are seen as canon (1st, 2000 and the entire Sinnoh Trilogy) while others are not (Zoroark and Reshiram/Zekrom for example).

but at least according to Bulbapedia's trivia section of the movie, the Kunihiko Yuyama has stated in an interview that the 20th Anniversayr Movie is set in a Parallel World in which Ash gets the Rainbow Wing from Ho-oh

Okay, I mean I still don't believe they wouldn't update certain areas of the prime universe, I mean look at Oak's Lab from Kanto to now, that alone shows continuity isn't something they're interested in. Why should they when most of the original fans from early seasons have moved on for the most part.

I never said they shouldn't update it. That's all fine.
