Police Interceptors in General

The county cops here are using the Caprice and Tahoe now. I have spoken with a few of them and they love the power. Most of the county cars are running fairly loud aftermarket exhaust, and they are intimidating to be beside or have behind you.

The writing on the quarter window appears to indicate the car was seized during a drug raid and gifted to the police thereafter.

Due to the high cost of the cars it will probably be a while before they see everyday use but the LAPD has seen it's potential.

I wound up having to talk to a police officer and later a judge about it when I was 17.

Would that happen to be related to the fact that those big bruiser Furys were one the fastest American cars of the late 1970s?

:P

I'd be pretty pissed if my local police force were dropping a hundred grand on a luxury sedan regardless of the potential.

Maybe a bit, even if it was a decade later when I was driving it. You know you're in trouble when Highway Patrol attempts to do a 180 to come after you. He didn't quite pull it off, though, so I stopped to wait for him, although part of my brain was yelling, "Go!" During the conversation, he looked over the car and asked, "What is this?" When I told him he whistled, said they didn't have anything like them now, and I could have easily gotten away from him. Anyway, some time later I was able to plea down to keep my license.

I was letting a friend drive my car one afternoon after meeting for lunch. He has a C3 Corvette and I have the C6 in my avatar. An Everett, Washington city car was a Dodge Charger. He didn't ticket us, just talked a little. When he pulled out he spun his tires getting up to speed on the roadway. I think the newer cars with more HP are being enjoyed a little more than the older average city cars.

Unfortunately most of the State Police in Oregon and Washington are SUV's with very trim light bars now. They look like an SUV with a roof rack is all, so they blend in really well with all the other SUV's on the road.

I am also seeing a lot more ex-police cars on the road that look like they could be current. As I approach them I am cautious, thinking I don't want a ticket. As I get up closer I see it's an older beat up POS and get back up to speed ;)

IMO, the Mustang looks pretty weak. It seems like they only put on a few stickers and antennas, then called it a day. At least put a lightbar on top and some other stuff to make it look tougher.

Must have been a seized car they repurposed. The lights are in the grill, probably.

No UK car. Oh the irony

I think these are more specialist models which will probably be purchased in addition to all the Vauxhall's they constantly buy. I don't see why they couldn't use high performance Jag's instead but I guess they cost too much.
