If you make it to the finals, what will make you inelegible or unable to procede?

There needs to be another option........ having held a racing license in the past/present. I have a FIA grade C license.....but it was for a historic series so I don't know how they will view that.

Is it equivalent to the licenses that they have for the GT4 class?

Within the 512 that made round 2, there might be some sandbaggers.

I plan on making it to orlando. My Rnd.1 effort was definetly sub-par to say the least. Rnd.1 was girlfriend time. She's been pre-warned to leave me alone this week or learn to like watching me hot-lap.

I´ve played last year, and i´m playing this year again. I just love the competition. I didn´t put much time in round one, but now things start to get interesting.

I won´t be eligible because i lived in Florida for a while, but now i´m back in my home country. I´m just playing it for fun.

About inegibility, if i was doing this "for serious" i would be worried about top players qualifying friends or ghost accounts to make the last round easier. There´s really no way to know this, and unfortunately i´m sure someone is doing it.

If someone at the top does this, then when Orlando comes around there will be one slow ass dude and I guarantee he will have to answer some questions.

Looking at the leaderboards I see efoss28 at the top in the SE. Pretty sure that would equate to Eric Foss, once a driver in the SCCA professional MX5 Cup, among other series. He is also very fast on iracing.com. I think it's great to see an apparent pro race driver logging times but it would be a shame if he moved forward a spot and an eligible racer misses out.

They may grab alternate's for cases like this.

Correct but I think they do the alternates for the final round. If someone (like me) has to fight like heck to be in the top 16 for round 2 and doesn't make it (say 17th or 18th) they won't pull an alternate from round 2 once he makes it to round 3 (which I am pretty sure he will).

That's a valid point. They most likely won't check eligibility until it comes to going to orlando. Hence, if any internationals or race licensed drivers make it through round 2 AND round 3 only round 3 drivers will be pulled up as alternates.

Anyone know what happens if one of the final 16 or final 8 are found to be ineligible? Do they invite the next runner up from the previous round or do they just drop the ineligible competitor(s) and leave it at that?

EDIT: Nevermind. I'm retarded. Didn't see this was already discussed.

My next question: When does PD start checking eligibility? An ineligible driver that makes it all the way to round 4 would result in two other eligible people losing the opportunity to progress. That's going to be kind of ****** for the drivers just outside the bubble in Round 2 and 3 (and 4 depending on when eligibility comes into play).

So lets get this straight. You have the second fastest time on toscana in the SE and you think it's ok? You may just be playing it for fun but you're going to take one of the top 16's spots if you keep at that rate. And as they have no guarantee that once you are found to be ineligible they will get pulled up, you may be screwing someone over royally.

Man that sucks if it's true, I hope you will at least think about pulling yourself out. It sucks that one perso every round is gonna get the shaft. There are plenty of other ways to still be competitive at this game if that's what your looking for.

And then the other thing, I understand it may be fun for you, but that is kind of a douche move to compete knowing that you are ineligible. You really should be reported as you don't fit the qualifications.

Hey, you guys have his confession. Put together a logical argument and present it to Sony, PD, or Nissan (or all three). The rules are pretty specific regarding eligibility, so if he truly is ineligible, it should be clear cut. Then again, when dealing with Sony or PD, what should be clear is not always what is.

Noted, and posted to the Playstation forums with PSN name. Doubt much will happen with this though.

Chill out folks, they call the next person in. GT Academy Europe has plenty of cases like this one, specially in the Portuguese finals, since a lot of brazilians have a Portuguese PSN account registred.

I think four or five from that board were not eligible, and they just called 21st, 22nd and so on.

No one is going to miss the academy because of this.

To me the real shame was that if this academy was in 2007 i would be 100% eligible. (was living in Orlando back then).

The problem is you will end up taking the place that someone deserves in the 3rd round. That person get's screwed, but who cares right?

Yes somebody will miss a chance because of this, just because other people do things doesn't make it ok. There is a person out there busting there ass trying to make it to round three and they will NOT make it!

Same goes for the pro drivers playing right?

I kind of regret bringing this up, didn´t wanted to be perceived as a bad person.:dunce:

I'm in the Southeast too and I hope to make it to round 3. Currently I'm 6th (which I know won't stick), but if I end up 17th or 18th and get booted due to ineligible drivers it will be a real bummer.

Yup, they will be dq'd also if they are in violation of the existing license policy. Very sad indeed, especially about the poster above who this is spinning of "in regards to."

What about the professional racer that leads his region? No need to point the finger at one guy that just happens to be on these forums. I'm sure there's a bunch of them out there.

I'm not really "up to speed" with anyone one these forums other than the times that I see, but may I ask who you are refering to?

I guess there's some guy in one of the regions who is a professional racer. Has done the MX-5 Cup and some other things. I'll have to search for the posts about him...

^^^ That guy.

^^ Ok, well he would certainly seem to be dq'd per the rules eh? Shame.

Copy. No worries 1.6T, don't devote too much time I figured you may know off hand.. Nice for the "top qualified" runners to know they are ALREADY hanging with pro's for times, bummer for the ones who may be bumped because of these infractions.. Please don't be me, please don't be me :)

I am excited to put some seat time in, haven't done anything since the 31st. Just had an "epic" day boarding @ Mt. Hood Meadows with some friends in the beautiful sunshine of the Pacific NW. Now it's time for some seat time :) :) :) :)

Exactly.

I just got surprised because it happened A LOT last year, and it was never in discussion.

Guys were making Japanese and Australian profiles to chase Takeuchi01 and Holl and nobody said a thing. It messed up the standings completely.

I´m not stupid, i know it´s a bit of a douche move (just like the pro racers racing hard), but trust me, i have my reasons.

In the beggining of the competition i considered taking a leave from work and flying to Orlando for this. Since the rules doesn´t specify that you need to be born in the United States, all the other requirements i could fullfil, even the permanent home. It´s just too expensive to do this. I did not chose to go that route, but mentally i needed to do this.

In the end 32 people will be there in Orlando fighting for a chance to be a professional race driver, and some of us just want to sit back and say, like i did when Jordan Tresson won, "it could have been me". (he qualified with a time very close to mine and ended up winning the whole thing).

So basically you are saying that in order to satisfy your ego, you are willing to ruin someone else's chance to go to Orlando. They won't check eligibility until after the next round, so the guy that finishes 17th won't get a call to replace you when you get DQ'ed next round. And people wonder what is wrong with the world today...............

And it's another reason why I love the fact that we have to pay for our xbox live subscription. There are far more controls in place to prevent this sort of stuff from happening.

I miss the Hyundai challenge. It was such fun competing for the dusty old junk pulled out of the back of the T10 corporate closet. Hope Scooty is still loving Greenawalt's used sofa...hahahaha.

Anyways, I digress, back on topic, I'd be utterly shocked if there isn't all kinds of shenanigans being played on this. It's even easier to multitag on PS3 so I'm sure there's some people out there running multiple accounts just to lower the numbers of people they'll have to face off against in the later rounds. I'm sure there's people out there running times for their friends, or Chic's even..lol. Then I'm sure there's a fair number like the guy posting here who are not citizens of the US and ineligible. Then probably even a few people who have professional racing experience trying to slip through the cracks. Nothing shocks me when it comes to competitions like this.
