It's not. I'm not sure you know what that word means.

It would be generalizing if I said something like "all Republicans are racist homophobes." It is also generalizing when you suggest that liberals are "never" open-minded. Taking the traits of a few, projecting them onto many, and using words like "all" or "never" is what makes a generalization.
You don't have to justify your beliefs, you're just telling it like you see it! Don't worry if people are offended by what you say, there's no need to be overly PC and beat around the bush just because some people have thin skin! :sly:

My observation was limited to a comparatively small group of people (Republican politicians), and focused on their actual actions rather than some assumed set of character traits. If you can't see the difference, I don't know what to tell you.
"The GOP" refers to the entire party. There are thousands and thousands of elected members of the GOP at federal, local and state levels so your very broad brush covers all of them. If that isn't generalizing I don't know what is. And your example that points towards generalizing on my part is nothing of the sort. I was clearly stating that in my personal experience I've never found being liberal = open minded. Surely you understand the difference.

Who is offended? Nice pc reply asking someone not to worry about being pc:lol:

Can I play the generalization game too? lol

All of D.C. has been fear mongering for many many years, funny how that's not really the case on the state level.

Yep. And this year is a fine example of why, at age 31, this is the first year I am voting. That is of course unless my choice drops out, then my streak will continue.
I have actually never voted for a winner. Every time I voted the candidate lost. I'm tempted to throw the vote away and go with Mickey Mouse this year. At least MM doesn't say stupid embarrassing things.

Leftist this, lefties that, PC this, PC that, but suddenly you're awfully sensitive about labels when the label is "conservative", "rich people", or..."NASCAR Fan". Even the Pope can't escape the leftist label.
The hypocrisy of the Pope's comments on walls are laughable. Typical leftist "do as I say not as I do" propoganda. The Pope should stick to tending his own flock and stay out of world politics.
This is emotional language. Perhaps you didn't mean to come off that way, but this reads very sarcastic and frustrated with the state of "leftist propaganda". Now of course, I know you weren't deeply offended by what the pope said, just merely frustrated and/or disagreeing with his sentiment. That's exactly how the "leftists" you decry feel about something they disagree with and are passionate about. I don't wake up in a fit of inconsolable sadness and offense because of what the Washington NFL team is called or what Donald Trump says. I just disagree with the way things are and have an opinion, and how strongly I hold that opinion depends on what I value. Same as you.

First, thanks for the measured response. Typical Canadian:lol: You'll note however that I did not call the Pope a leftist in that quote you used nor did I call the Catholic Church leftist as you asserted a couple of comments after mine. I said he was using leftist propoganda. One can be a slave to some leftist ideas and still be at heart quite conservative. Similar to the distinction of saying someone is stupid and saying someone has done something stupid. Big difference.

It came off the way I intended. The Pope should stay out of politics. Someone who is the head of a worldwide organization that doesn't fully accept the LGBT community, lives in a castle surrounded by armed guards, has few woman in the higher ranks, a long history of child sexual abuse among it's clergy etc. has no business lecturing a current or potential future foreign leader on how to run his country...IMHO of course.

One of the best things I'm loving so far about Trump's campaign(other than the fact he's inserting things into the immigration debate that need to be talked about) its the fact that he's scaring the neoconservatives and potentially could send them back the democratic party. That said one could only that Trump pushes the GOP back to its Old Right roots.

So I turn on CNN late last night & I see Don Lemon interviewing Jesse Ventura. Here's a guy who also made his living for years as a loud-mouthed blowhard in the entertainment industry. Unlike some people, however, he seems to have a clear understanding of the difference between fantasy & the real world. Listening to him talk was like listening to an intellectual, philosophical & moral giant compared to the GOP frontrunner ... or, in all honesty, any of the GOP candidates.

Trump and Bernie have exactly the same pose ...

Speaking of which, why is it that the Republican candidates are referred to by their surnames and the Democrats by their given names?
Did you see how it worked out for 'Jeb!'?

It makes sense in both Clinton's and Bush's case, maybe the dems like to appear more personable. There is also the term The Donald as well.

Probably most of us are not invested in stocks and bonds. But has anybody noticed how global markets seem to be in the process of going down? Some in fact are prognosticating very large deflation of the global debt bubble in the next year or so. Trump is one who has repeatedly warned of this, although public awareness and interest of the financial and economic issues seems low, especially here at GTP.

The sky has been falling for as long as I can remember

There are other boogie men people fall for, for whatever reason. Usually one's they feel they can actually affect such as global temperature.

The US has been rallying after a fairly long slump. S&P 500 is up 9% since Feb. 11th. The debt issue will necessarily manifest itself in inflation. If the US has less of a debt problem than the nations around it, it won't be so bad here (but probably gold or other neutral commodities would be a good place to lay low). I've been in gold for years expecting inflation, but the dollar keeps staying ahead of everyone else in the race to the bottom.

For Trump supporters, the sky has been falling since at least 1999. Should global markets actually crash, there will be many more angry, restive people. The best way to take the wind out of Trump's sails will be to engineer a boom which lifts markets higher in the short term.
